The BBC may well of focused on the most retarded students there, but I find it difficult to believe that this a masters in fine art course. How did they get on to it? 1st year BA students are more competent and have more passion than this. Roisin Byrne's conceptual what is art nonsense is utterly vacuous and tedious, Blue Curry is an idiot, Paint ball guy doesn't seem to understand first principals or why he is there, the tutors seem clueless failures. The painter is the one with any integrity.
The bbc chose to seek out those students who appeared to not know wtf they were doing, or who appeared (or who actually were) making art with little actual content, or art where the content was b.s. The bbc wanted to pander to the public's perception that contemporary art is a load of clap trap and so that's what they made a documentary about. A couple of idiots on one course isn't representative of the whole of contemporary art, or of all art students.
I'm all for having a concept or an idea behind the physical product of art, but you need more of it than just that. I do art, but I like to make it complex and intriguing, not self indulgent. Things like this just get me angry and wonder how much bullshitting you need to do or get away with in the art world.
typical bbc. they spend the whole thing talking to a bunch of morons and only show four seconds the only artist who has actually achieved something since graduating (luke rudolf at 1:00).
when i saw this on tv i genuinely thought it was a joke. and i'd love to find out where that irish girl lives and steal everything in her house, including the dust.
This isn't about expressing yourself or having something to say.. it is about "How can I get people to buy my stuff". Most of them are not artists, they are spoiled kids.
i want to make a stance against modern art and create the most time consuming, tedious, aesthetically pleasing artwork ever created, and sell it for a reasonable price.
Thankyou so much for uploading this I watched it when came it on the BBC an ever since I've been searching for it online, its just nice to watch other people going through the same thing you are and it's relaxing.
this says nothing negative about Goldsmiths itself, just the art students who go there. im sure the art students in other unis are equally frustrated. as for the staff and teachers, their quite nice

That girl hasn't got a clue what art is. What a naive person using art as an excuse to steal.

If you aren't focused on the creative aspect of the artwork, YOU ARE NOT MAKING ART.
You are literally showcasing NOTHING.
Dear god, why am I still in art school.

I want to go to that girl's exhibit and steal all her stuff before anybody else gets a chance to see it. It would be my artistic statement.
