wow... I fall in love with the Catholic Liturgy all over again when I hear such a beautiful performance... thank you! As an organist for a small chapel where hardly any of the congregation sing, these kind of youtubers keep my spirits up!!! :D
Actually yes it is. It is sung during the Easter season. Sung usually on Easter Sunday after the renewal of baptismal promises. I know this for I do work in the church and ever since I can remember we've used it then.
You may use it, but it is certainly inapropriate. As I said before, in Paschal time (including the Easter Sunday itself) the Church sings the Vidi Aquam during aspersion before Mass.
You can confirm this by looking at a Missale Romanum.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. (Asperges me, Domine, hysoppo, et mundabor: lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor.)
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion ...
..very talented musician...god bless him...i would love to hear vidi aquam which is sung instead during paschal time ....please let me know someone ...
This is a friend of mine Eric Ramos, he is the music director at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Peoria,Az. This is him warming up for schola practice. There are a couple of rough spots since he's making up the organ accompaniment as he's playing from chant notation. I'm hoping to get him to do chant instruction videos that I can post here.
That would be great, information like this is needed. If he knows of any good books for organ accompaniment that would help us all too! Chant books are easy to find but not organ.
Going forward, after each chant Eric will comment on the accompaniment. He'll get some resources together for the organ. Unfortunately there's not a lot out there, most of what Eric has are out of print stuff given to him by old Priests and nuns. I hope to post some performance level chant by Eric soon, with a very good organist accompanying him.
What a coincidence. The St. Carrolus Boromeus church in Antwerp/Belgium (where the famoius painter Rubens lies buried) also still celebrates the real Roman Mass.
