When my grandmother was a teenager people thought a 16 year old girl who wasn't married or engaged yet had something wrong with her. Times were rougher, the economy and technology wasn't as great yet. People had responsibilities earlier, thus had to mature faster. Our economy and freedoms have created a more luxurious, relaxed way of life here in America where people don't have to grow up as fast. Age is relative.
