For a non smoker, that cigar sure was short :D Great video! As a food lover, I'm definitely going to employ these techniques next time I make a meal worth photographing.
@xmtsystems I was really dizzy after all that smoke. O am glad you liked the video. Post your shot on our site when you get it. (find this tut via browse lessons... you can post images in comments)
I wish more photography tutorials where like this... that was hilarious, simple, fun to watch, and that dude is a trip! Opal tough frost ftw! Nice studio space to, I wants!!
Nice funny video, in the beguinner I was not sure if it was a food recipes or photo tutorial , in my opinion you must tell us your camera seting -up before you take shot. but anyway was cool
@zhatdude hey dude, thanks for your comment can you please tell me what was confusing, i personally though it was a master piece (bias opinion) but it got not so great response as other videos.... I am just trying to improve presentation for the future videos.
@LearnMyShot If you could just make the explanations a little more simple and clear, it would be a bit more focused. Also, the many cuts between what you say can be a little distracting. Please don't take this as a super-negative remark, just a little bit of constructive criticism. I enjoyed your sarcastic humor about the camera stand, though :)
@UmmNuwayra i did taste the soup, involuntarily at the end. It was actually fine. Food photography can be wasteful at times , but we minimize disposal at much as possible. Soup bowl was 80% full of clear marbles so soup and ingredients just on top, this also prevents key ingredients from sinking. These techniques are only used in commercial photography when food items have to stay long time on set. This job was actually for motion footage I shot a still just for tutorial purposes.
Warning: do not watch this video when hungry for lunch! That's a great looking gumbo! Not sure I like the smoke on the food, but that's probably only because I know how it was created. Good video, and loved the outtakes. ;)
u'r clown and you are NOT interesting

@zhatdude I see, your point. Usually we do have some sort of script. this time it was a bit impromptu. Thanks for your feedback

@LearnMyShot Also, I wish you would've explained the marbles part in the video. That would have been very helpful!

Did you eat the soup or did you just throw it away, after you put the smoke of the cigar in it?

This was comical(in a good way), but I learned something. I used to live in Brooklyn and never went to the Empire Bldg.

@MDCCCLXXIV Why don't you select another video to watch? Better yet, try making a tutorial that helps people, like this guy!

About the final shot. Just a tad to much smoke there, makes it unrealistic in my opinion. The vid itself was good and aducational :-)
StevenGraaf 3 months ago
@StevenGraaf there were a number of shots with various degree of steam. If you try this you can control ow much to show.

If my soup smoked like that when served there must be something wrong :P thnx 4 tha vid! ;-)

@StevenGraaf are talking about final shot, or soup smoking in general ?
