google 'phajaan', the abuse and torture elephants go through to be trained to perform stupid tricks. no elephants paints magically of its own free will exactly how a human would. this is sick.
Why isnt this on the news? Why is it that most people from around the world seem to care about is making lots of money and buying the latest cars, and attaining status whilst their kids are being fed crap from school. why are people so obsessed about money and power? Im happy with just my arms and legs. Ive never been obsessed about making millions and gaining power over others. It takes most people to see the brink of death to wake up though i think, not all but most. Its pathetic.
it a different thing, here they use tactics that we wouldn´t use with our children: pain. Please stop abuse, anything related to humans, concerning animals, is overpowering.
Not necessarily. Ever heard of positive reinforcement? Elephant trainers in zoos rarely use pain, simply because it puts their lives at risk. Circuses are a different story. But if this elephant wants to paint, which I know from personal experience many higher mammals do enjoy doing, it wouldn't even be training. And if the animal was abused, first of all we'd all hear about it because this is a world-class facility, and second of all they would be reluctant to interact with the elephant.
People! Everybody's arguing whether this is abuse or not. Some people feel uncomfortable, whithout quite knowing why, to see elephants paint. They are right; for an elephant to paint requires 2 things: that it be held captive, and that it be "broken" so it interacts with humans, both unethical. Also, the painting itself, while amazing, is a trick for tourists, and to make animals as noble and magnificent as elephants to perform, in any whay, for gawking humans, is also unethical. Sound good?
Get over yourself, these animals are way more inteligent than us, if they don't want to paint then they wouldn't do it. They would just not hold the brush. Plus the fact that they can paint pictures far better than most people can means that they have creative and artistic minds. Personally i think elephants painting is a great gift for PEOPLE to see how creative and smart they are.
Wow, you are so dumb, you actually think that elephants are smarter then us...? ROFL you are just as dumb as they are... I do however agree that they are smarter then we give credit, but no, sorry they are not nearly as smart as a human...
The Indianapolis Zoo does not support the abuse of animals. If any of you lived in Indianapolis you would know that the elephants are visible almost 24/7 even during training and cleaning.
maybe they enjoy painting.

About the animal abuse issue, for the same argument, one can say that putting children through school is also a form of abuse.
