  • I got to try my friends Mutant Cell, and man it has a great hook. Very controllable backend, yet very strong one as well. It handled great in the oil, then gave a good snap to the pocket. I got more hook throwing his Mutant Cell than throwing his Nano.

  • i've had this ball well over a year now, have no issues with it "dying" still reacts just fine. love it

  • i just bought a hammer areson from you guys and from bowling on a drenched lane the muntant cell reacts but the hammer just opened my mistake margin by 5 or six boards. though i thinkn the muntant has started to loose its touch.

  • this ball is really killing.. it burst up the pin as strong as the lighting strike.. i get an average 230 with this roto grip mutant cell... i love this ball so so so so so much... many game i have won with this ball.. :)

  • mutant > rogue?

    just wondering

  • This ball dies fast

  • this ball seems to be weak on carrying those bastard corner pins...

  • @BSCEnVy Exactlyyyy! But still, a damn good ball nonetheless.

  • How would you compare the Mutant Cell to the Virtual Gravity and the Virtual Gravity Nano?

  • how does this compare to the storm reign supreme? i won this ball in a raffle and wanna know if it is compared close to the reign supreme, i average a 192 and im trying to find a ball where i can get an aggressive hit in the pocket so i can hopefully get to a 200 average before the leagues over

  • @sortonator123 This ball will be more aggressive and hook earlier than the Reign Supreme. Keep practicing spares, that's the key to averaging 200 :)

  • Got this ball a year ago and it was awesome. The reason I say it "was" awesome is because it died after about 3 months because I never cleaned it, there was nothing wrong with the ball. If you get this ball, make sure you clean it every time after you are done bowling or else it will die.

  • @OpTicVII yeah i got this ball a year ago and i cleaned it every time i threw it but it still died after a few months, its a super high maintenance ball... the thing is like a fucking sponge... it made we weary about buying the mutant cell pearl but i did it anyways and so far so good!

  • Whats the pattern in these videos?

  • the ball should be drilled with the thumb and ring finger straight up and down from the center side relief, pointy finger pointing out or away. The pin should be by the center of the Y between the ring and thumb and the relief hole. but that's how i throw it. You could bring the pin up to the fingers but I like the roll I get from the weight of the unbalance.

  • Trust the ball slow your swing extend your swing I've thought about bowling since 2001 I got my 300 757 a lot of other 7's I was 24 and I haven't bowled on league since. I love the sport but it's way to easy to stop because of the cost. And I'm not gettin any younger! but who cares.

  • where was brian on the theory video?

  • i think i just found my next ball!

  • I have the Big Curve by Lane 1 and have way impressed, shot my first 2 300 games in the last month with it.

  • I have the Lane 1 time bomb...does anyone know how they compare?...Also considering the ELITE "red Alien"..HELP ME!!!! I average 222 with the Time bomb, but have yet to shoot that big 300..I want something more agressive to simplify my life..

  • @SHEEF07 The Lane #1 Big Curve would be a great choice. It is more aggressive and will give you a different look than the Time Bomb.

  • I got a 4 x 4 drilling... with the pin under... but i get only a weak reaction on long oil... just doesnt work... cant get it... insane reaction at most people.... think should get another drilling?

  • @DaveBais absolutely! The layout can be the diff between a ball that comes off your hand naturally, and hooks the way you intend to, or a ball that falls off your hand and has absolutely no hook or power. My suggestion: bowl with a ball that works for you and have a friend make a video of you bowling, showing your release, ball speed and target arrows, etc. Show the pro-shop driller, and then he'll be able to lay out a ball that will work for you.

  • Wow for Brians Mutant being negative pin it sure hits good.

  • this ball is great, i like it but i dont love it, at least not yet. drilled with 6x5 layouts, its pretty much a straight shot to the pocket, very speed sensitive. professionally sanded with 1000 abralon, hook is more consistent now. now i just need to be more consistent

  • this, Jigsaw corner or somthing else?

  • @GoPackers212 THIS MAN , IT KICKS ASSSSS

  • @GoPackers212 Highly recommend this over a lot of balls out there right now... This the Invasion and the Hyroad are in my line up and this is my go to for starting matches.

  • @612Lucky yea i actually just bought a Mutant Cell Pearl because i got a really good deal on it

  • @GoPackers212 the hits that come off of it are simply phenomenal. Very hard hitting ball

  • i wish my cell had that much backend!

  • Love the ball, my layout has OUTSTANDING backend reaction!!! 5 out of 5!!!

  • i love my mutant cell and i want to get the peral

  • @eastezac000 just got the peral love it.

  • @the300man Storm is Roto

  • @jarvin007 They may be owned by the same people but they have different lines of bowling balls. Wow nice one.

  • u guys should do the complete bedlam!!!! the video they got doesnt show its true potential!

  • rotogrip is better than storm

  • @the300man roto grip and storm are the same people

  • @the300man

    roto grip is storm

  • @the300man wow u fail

  • @Drazorw0w I'm sure they'd be legit, probably knock 10-20 pins off each of their averages. But they use the same pattern every time just as a frame of reference. When you shoot sport, a minor change in ball dynamics could result in a disproportionately large adjustment on the lane. To compare different bowling balls, house shot is definitely ideal. Plus 98% of people watching this don't shoot on sport with any regularity.

  • Someone please answer this for me which hooks more backend and all. Massacre red death or the mutant cell my freind an me are arguing about it

  • @Gryphondude2007 mutant cell

  • really good ball dies out really fast though, in about 2-3 weeks.

  • got this ball today, All I have to say is that this ball rolls. It doesn't skid then snap, it goes for a moderate amount of time then it rolls mid lane and has a very smooth reaction

  • @Drazorw0w me to every time the same dry lane 38 feet woww

  • @Drazorw0w I agree. They should lay out the shark or scorpion pattern since this is a heavy oil ball lol

  • IF i had lanes in my house id be like 900 every week lol how sweet wuld it be to wake up, walk down stairs and throw a game or two.

  • how much would this cost?

  • ive watched a bunch of these videos, what kinds of oil patterns do the use

  • I got this ball last week it's amazing, I predict my 2nd 300 this month or next with it

  • how do you lay it down so smoothly, i have a little bit of lob and that causes me to lose some length?

  • wipe it down a whole lot after you finish bowling.

  • it doesnt seem to have that same drive for the crankers

  • Comment removed

  • you bowl jv so it must not help you enough

Im a freshman bowling anchor lol

  • Comment removed

  • this is my second year of bowling lol

  • lmao sorry meant to say "can't keep up"

  • one of the top 3 baddest balls on the market right now.pushes great down the lane.

  • what would u say the other two are?

i would deffenitly say this ball and the black widow nasty. what about the other one

  • o and if possibly why?

  • which is better roto grip cell or cell or the Mutant cell and when did the Mutant cell come out.

  • I think may favorite thing is the timing on those A2s. Wish the houses here in Montana were setup like that. The place where I bowl has tons dead wood due to the rake dropping so slowly.

Awesome ball. One of the guys on our team has one and it is phenomenal. Really looking at getting one for myself.

  • whats the song btw love the ball

  • @madman102792

I HAD A regular cell before the mutant and my hook is sick

  • hmm this or the Virtual Gravity in hook potential and strength?

  • I would say that virtual gravity has more strength but if I was to pick between those two I would grab the mutant cell in a heart beat. It is a beautiful rolling ball and is much more consistent than the Virtual Gravity

  • i've had this ball for a month and i love it, and its only drilled as a full roller so theres not an insane amount of hook like this video shows. i average 180-190 on regular house shot but i've been shooting 220-240 consitently and even a few 250-270. This ball replaced my storm supercharged(bought in 2005)

  • if ur a beginner suggest starting out with a plastic not such a reactive resin

  • @ribread97 well if ur starting bowling for the first time ur probably not gonna know how to hook a ball anyways lol

  • would you guys recommend this ball to a beginner? thanks!

  • this ball is too strong for a beginner to handle. I would suggest starting with something like the storm reign.

  • you are only as goood as you want to be......bowling balls are like golf clubs..if you learn to bowl with the best out there you will get that much better....you cannot learn to control a ball that hooks with a plastic ball......I first picked up a bowling and it was the ultimate inferno...never had bowled before.....went from a 124 starting hte year to a 154....the next year was 179 now just 3 years later I am carrying a 213...i would never have gotten this far with a plastic ball

  • yeah. starting with plastic will not teach you how to hook the ball, you need to start with an average reactive ball until you have some experience. I started with a brunswick power groove and then progressed upward from there.

  • @leogawgaw

perhaps a Tropical storm or The Link by 900 global

  • hmmm it would be wayy to strong for a beginner, i think you should go for a brunswick ball, like the avalanche sold, that was my first reactive ball and i bowled a 258 with it......

  • what people are forgetting is that this ball is made for heavy oil and thats why i think its a ball. i play a shot similar to the 2nd guy and i need something to react like this on heavy oil...

  • @AYObrody101

Yeah, I have this ball and a Mars. The Mars just slides straight down the lane on heavy oil.

  • @sl0re10 well thats because the mars is mid performance polished ball, madium dry conditions.

  • just purchased one from u guys a few minutes ago it looks sick i've never bowled with one before

  • Keep us updated! :D

  • i just got this ball like 2 weeks ago and i absolutely love it

  • mine comes in on monday!!!! its been in town since the 30th on December but i guess ups doesn't ship on new years eve... they're torturing me!!

  • Comment removed

  • i got my mutant cell last week and i LOVE it! its an amazing bowling ball

  • could u guys get someone to bein ur vids without a massiverev rate or a tiny revrate

  • @jgiv12345678 yeah it's not a hooking contest and it makes every ball look too similar.

  • thank god someone agrees for once

  • yeah. it would be easier to compare if all of thee balls were drilled similar as well, instead of have different layouts on different balls.

  • btw this has to be the most angle i've ever seen john play.

  • i want this ball so bad! my rogue isn't as strong as i want it to be at the house i bowl league in. i had the original cell but it was my first high performance ball and it's a pound lighter than what i throw now. i also have the cell pearl but i use it as a spare ball in my league. i think this will be my personal christmas present.

  • 2:40 would have counted. If you watch, the pin was already falling. So why cant you count it. You pretty much have to.

  • @Bowling2013

No, it dousnt count, if the pin setter makes contact with the pin, no matter what, the pin is to stay up. same ting happened to me last week. they had to change the score, and go back and set the pin up.

  • pba rules... if it falls before the pinsetter comes down than it counts... if the pinsetter touches it, it does not count and has to be reset. but this pinsetter drops pretty fast.

  • Just got my new Mutant Cell today. Lanes had been freshly oiled and I was the first to bowl on it. threw it at the third arrow and got a strike right off the bat. This ball is awesome. Has a lot of power in the backend.

  • 2:40 - Would not have counted!!!

  • i think these pin-setters come down to fast.

  • Mutant Cell of VG??? which is a better ball for a rhino page type player like myself.. above avg rev rate and speed but i love to play that outside part of the lane like rhino in the king of bowling series.. i need some help in this decision

  • @wessyweezy09

i would go with this bowling ball. the mutant gets very far down the lane before it snaps especially if u go pin up with this ball. it will allow u to play outside because it gets so far down the lane and then snaps hard but still is very continuous.

  • should i get this or the Jigsaw?

  • @SuperFunnyman13

Get this!!! jigsaw is alot less consistent and gets alot of over under on alot of patterns

  • jigsaw sucks go rotogrip all the way!

  • i've heard from most people that the jigsaw is condition specific

  • What's this compared to Brunswick Siege?

    Thanks

  • the siege hooks early and the mutant is a very consistent shot and i love the mutant get the mutant it will rock your world!

  • This bowling ball is a great bowling ball for almost any shot that is put down for leagues. i myself put a stacked layout on this bowling ball forcing it to get down the lane and snap. i love it. i have thrown it on a couple kegel patterns and his was always the ball of choice.

  • How did you drill it?

  • wowconventional ona cell hmh might b a good idea cant tell with his crappy bowling style

  • im trying to find a ball w/ a big weight block since i bowl about 22 mph on avg. but i dont put much revs bout twice of john and i love strong backend reactions..basically a ball that hooks all the way off the pin deck...i bowl to fast for my virtual gravity because its set up for midlane reaction but my track powermachine is set up for strong backend and it hooks like a mofo...im thinking of getting a rotogrip because they averagly have a big weight block this or im looking at hammer sting...

  • bought a cell last week today threw a 196,203,213 ball is awesome!

  • just bowled 254-267-217, first series with the new cell. Love this thing.

  • @14jordan94 im sorry but 300 rpms is not high....im willing to bet your ball speed is about 16mph or less and thats why you can hook it so much.

  • Is Tony's layout Stracked w/ a smoother backend? since it's pin under.

  • is it just me or are those the fastest pinsetters out there? those things are crazy fast

  • seeing as hank helped designing the ball i figured it would be similar to the virtual and it looks pretty close of course depending on your drilling, the way tony has his set up reacts like my virtual, im thinking of getting this and having it compliment the virtual by going a bit farther down the lane, this ball looks outstanding

  • From looking at this vid. I don't wont this ball, looks like it is going to out hook my original Cell, lol my cell is defiantly strong enough.

  • The Rogue Cell was a hybrid. It was supposed to carry down the lane just a bit further than the original, but short of the Cell Pearl. It was made to let you continue use of it when the lane started breaking down. This, the Mutant Cell, is supposed to be Roto's new hook machine. Just imagine the original Cell and add a little more angular motion and back end and this is what you get. I'll buy it because the Cell line has carried me throughout the years and it will continue to do so with this one

  • The Rogue was a hunk of junk

  • How would this compare to a virtual gravity? I dont want another ball that will do the same thing. I want something to add to my arsenal.

  • This ball i a lot more angular with more hook.

  • Honestly i'm kinda bummed, I mean the ball looks good and all, but it just doesn't have that "Trademark Cell" roll through the pocket. I can appreciate how angular the mutant is but what i loved about my original cell is its crazy amount of carry due to that backend continuation. This thing just kinda looks like every other ball that hooks a lot. Compare Cell, Cell Pearl, and Mutant Cell Videos and you'll see what i mean.

  • @DAHensel it looks good when it hits a little high, and i mean a little, but with the cell you can come in lighter, with this one, it looks as though your supposed to hit the pocket, or a little high, lol

  • ive never thrown a roto grip ball but, this thing looks like a beast indeed.

now if i could only rev a little bit higher....

whats the name of the song playing btw?

  • O.K. so after taking some heat on the side weight comment, let me say this...I still truly believe that ball the guy in the green shirt is throwing wobbles badly. If that is what to truly expect from this ball, I won't be buying it.

Just purchased a Roto Grip Cell to save for a rainy day. I have an Epic Battle and the SD-73 Classic. They don't roll that erratic. If anyone drilled a ball for me and it wobbled like that, they would be eating the cost of the ball for poor drilling. I won't buy

  • It looks like its wobbling because as it changes axis the yellow comes into view, that's all. There is no wobble there at all.

  • well u obviously dont need something this aggressive on these lane conditions but this ball could be very useful on certain patterns

  • and with tony and brians's pin buffer on the ball they drilled the reaction to friction won't be as fast so it doesn't give the really snappy look either..

  • looks stupid strong. rhino page told my friend it was the best ball hes ever thorwn. (not a rhino page fan tho)

  • well let me tell you something. i couldnt agree more.

  • It has a lot more backend than the rogue cell and hooks a little earlier

  • this ball has a nice smooth reaction looks good

  • nice nice butttt the ball hookss and then stops hooks i was in japan and i saw some pro's throwe it if you want a really great ball for heavy oil and for shark pattern the jigsaw and the virtual energy is the ball

  • the strike at 2:38 was not a strike the pinsetter touched the pin

  • no one cars

  • hey john. has your rev rate gotten higher? of is that the ball really revving up on its own? your ball didnt look like it spun as much in your virtual gravity video.

  • man the rack comes down quick compared to the AMF i bowl at, half as quick, if that

  • Its a A-2.....

  • would this ball be suitable for house patterns?

  • yes of course if the patterns fresh. its its burnt out then i dont know. haha

  • suitable yes but would you need to throw it no..

  • you could easily throw something a lot less aggressive and score well

  • i want it!

  • lot more revs than the original, very aggressive... Mutant Cell to me is RG's version of the VGravity...that ball is a huge success for storm

  • The cell line was more of a control piece than the gravity line.. It won't be as violent at the end of the patter

  • ya true, but everyone has been trying to copy the success of first the cell, and then the vgravity... the virtual led hammer to the jigsaw. I just talked to a rep at RG and he says that this ball is a TEST ball, if they like the core shape they will start a new line of balls with it and get away from the CELL name/series

  • eyah thats true but the

Jigsaw isn't going over too well.. Eveeryone thought the Rogue was gonna be roto's virtual, but it's just not in the cores charecteristics to make a sharp turn.. I don't think this 1 either honestly..

  • This ball rolls like a Virtual Gravity on steroids and is in a cheaper price point. In comparison to the Rogue, I was 6 and 3 left on Shark with more belly room right and more ball speed. This thing is gonna be a complete MONSTER.

  • Iono what rep you're talking to superdutch, but they aren't accurate here. This ball is just a shifting of the mass in the Cell core and it is far past testing, it's in production and slated to be released November 19th (tentatively). I doubt they get away from the Cell series name as well, considering it has been the biggest selling line on the market for 2 years (or so). the name alone sells these balls and I can assure you, this one is gonna knock the socks off of folks.

  • i think its more just the rotogrip name but yea being a cell is a good "celling" point aswell haha

  • nice nice butt it leaves allot of 10 pin if your lucky youll get the messenger i still like the jigsaw more than that ball the gives you all angles you want

  • its coming out November 19th, not the 20th. Can't wait, im getting one :D. I love the colors.

  • Same here. I use Storm balls exclusively, but being that R.G. is the sister company; I'll give it a try...

  • On the forums you mentioned putting down a "heavier' volume of oil" for the Mutant testing, I was curious as to how much more oil this is compared to most of your other video reviews?

  • You got some fast racks! I would hate to bowl there.

  • at the end of the video, what shoes are tony wearing?

  • Look like Dexter SST8's to me.

  • Ball rolls good but the color is ugly as hell.

  • i kinda like it. looks cool rolling down the lane

  • Is it my imagination or does this ball (the second guy to throw it) appear not to be "balanced". Wobbles quite a bit before it makes its turn. Would love to hear a comment from the person who threw that ball. Looks like it might be slightly over the limit on side weights

  • proabaly color variation, these guys are professionals with drlling.

  • its just u its the green on the other side of the ball that makes it look like it wobbles and how can you say it looks like its "slightly over the limit on side weight"

  • I know this is a Japan release ball. Are they gonna release this in the US as well?

  • This is a U.S. release. Sometime in November I do believe.

  • i dont think this is a japan release man. japan releases were cubic cell and hybrid cell,

  • and plasma cell.

  • <
