i am studying underaged drinking. and here in america you can't drink till your 21. because the brain is not yet developed all the way and alochol ruins the brain function.
part of the reason for teen drinking is that there is lack of facilities for us all!even if you put up the price of alcohol tenagers will still get their hands on it! give us all something to do with our time and the drinking will decrease
I agree alccohol is too cheap in supermarkets. It should only be allowed to be sold in off licences. If you are going to tax alchohol then tax it through these out lets and not pubs. All the goverment do is tax alcohol in pubs and restaurants which is killing the trade, when these places control who they serve alcohhol to.
I hate drinking on the street in general, make it illegal for all ages, walking along with a can of beer is not necessary. Also prosecute children who also ask someone who's old enough "if they say will you go in the shop for me" make that an offence. Also theres never any police out patrolling to enfoce laws as their either tied up in paper work or sitting on the roads picking on motorists. This is my third comment now APPROVE IT PLEASE (un-edited) this is a democratic country so I want this up
it is but this law isn't clamped well i mean police can't be everywhere, and that is understandable, but the trouble is people don't report it, I think labour should make it easier for people to report drinkers and make them pay. not only does it dirty our streets with foul language and set a bad exaple to the younger population it also increases the crime rate. That IS disgussting
Part of the problem is alcohol is so cheap. In my local supermarket they are selling 20 bottles of beer for £10, or you can buy 2 boxes (40 bottles) for £16. These offers encourage people to drink. I don't think alcohol needs to be taxed more but I do think that under the licensing laws it should be illegal to allow any business be it a corner shop/supermarket to make these kinds of offers. Reduce the amount of cheap alcohol in peoples hands and you reduce the problems that consuming it causes
With all due respect to the government, how do you propose to actually stop this and other culture changes happening? Whilst I agree that binge drinking is a real problem, as far as I can see, you are going to hold parents responsible for the children. You say parents bring up the kids, not the government, but it is the government that has removed the parents rights to discipline children and the human rights acts, that have taken away any authority that we once had. Good luck but no cigars :)
Proper family life need to be restored but this labour have continued to pamper to the greedy needs of the rich and big business and as a result life and standards will continue to sink. Business understands nothing other than profit!
Alcohol and cigarettes are in the top 10 dangerous drugs list at about 4th most dangerous are cigs and about 7th for alcohol. Cannabis is about 13th on the list and not a single death has been associated with its use where social factors have not also been evident. What we need is the damages of all drugs and substances taught at around the 1st year of comprehensive school and make sure it is taken in by the young. Then we can legalise all drugs and treat addiction as an illness like alcoholism.
If Government could change culture and society the world would be a safer place but sadly Britain is out of control now, for all the talk in Westminster I doubt we'll see any change on the ground.

I can't believe that Labour calls itself a socialist party on its youtube userpage. Yes, Labour, and I'm a banana.

Is it a good role model to have a bar where you work, namely the houses of parliament?
Shouldn't our M.P's lead by example?

Good luck, the social climate for teenagers, due to the broken families is responsible for the increase in drug-taking and alcohol-abuse in public.
To Sort out these issues
You have to make sure adults come into parenthood responsible and aware of what their actions can do on the child.
