  • @Shappyism

    me!! (of course:))

  • @Shappyism Hell no!!! you crazy?

  • @Shappyism me.. I love this..

  • There is not a truth existing which I fear, or would wish unknown to the whole world.

  • I like history but some facts about the Trojan war have been distorted by some "historians" and are against the ancient sources.

  • @SPARTANsenator7 Like what facts?

  • @Imperator88vis

Like the facts that they have mistranslated many texts. i have a video about it, you can watch it! For example the translation of the phrase "Beware of the Greek bearing gifts" is false, the text says ΦΟΒΟΥ ΤΟΥΣ ΔΑΝΑΟΥΣ ΚΑΙ ΔΩΡΑ ΦΕΡΟΝΤΕΣ whis is "Beware of the Danaans bearing gifts". Danaans were a part of the Greek nation but by replacing the word Danaans with the word Greeks, they imply that Trojans were not of the same origin!

    i hope i was clear :)

  • @SPARTANsenator7 Oh.. actually I already understood that! Troy was an Ionian colony of "Greece" and it was indeed "kind've" a civil war. Greece originated from many separate city states that often fought one another, did it not? It is only over time that their culture and direction unified them as a definable nation - Greece.

  • @Imperator88vis

Yes, that's true, ancient Greece like ancient China, India, Gaule etc consisted of many separate states that streched all over the Mediteranean and often fough each other for dominance among the rest like Sparta vs Athens or Macedonia vs Theba. They all united when they had to face a foreign nation. In Thermopylae they began to think about unification which came with Philip and Alexander the Great!

  • @SPARTANsenator7 I understand pretextes that wars may be fought under, but the Helen concept really is classic and is something I like - besides it made for a great line in an 80s song: "Wars have been fought over women like her"! :)

  • @Imperator88vis

I see what u mean but in this case that was a romantic pretext that envailed the main reasons :)))

  • @SPARTANsenator7 Did the siege of Troy really last ten years? TEN YEARS to siege one city??? I would've totally lost my patience after about a month and entreated the Olympian gods - "LET LOOSE THE KRAKEN!!" (Hey they were near the coast after all.. :))

  • @Imperator88vis

Illiad and Odyssey are in fact codified history and just like all ancient Greek mythology, it's a source of info about the distant past envailed as myths. As for the siege, the sources speak about 10 years!

  • Rufus Sewell was awesome in this mini-series!

  • @HistoryLover1550
