  • I am going to transpose the violin parts to clarinet.

    It shall be awesome.

  • this is no much for the original

  • great..it takes me to that place i thought only i knew

  • I love this group!

  • This is an incredible song. It has one HELL of alot to say about religions.

  • @ArchangelAzrael13 Ever consider it might be about celebrities? Heh.

  • I selected this thinking it would be a Bauhaus cover, but this is good too!

  • One sad, sorry, bitter little punk signed in under three different names just to dislike something the rest of the world knows is truly awesome.

  • I swear, this band was sent down by Odin to remind us that our one god idea really sucks.

  • I think the song is about more than Jesus, it's about how fickle we are with our gods/idols/celebrities, etc. There's the obvious example of us crucifying Jesus, but he's not the only person we've celebrated then destroyed. We "throw stones" when they do something we dont like/approve of.

Example: Michael Jackson. Everyone loved his music & talents in the 80s. When his appearance changed, we disapproved. When 1 lady sprouted lies about him, we dragged his name through the mud & trusted tabloids

  • ...ME GUSTA...

  • @AlecSierra Talking crap? Do my words mean nothing to you? If someone DOESN'T like the song then why go to it in the first place. Are you so dull as to not see that? And no a song is only good if the person listens to it likes it; if you do not like it then, oh well. Do not comment on it. Makes sense, right? It should. unless you are a complete and total moron. Also a song is only as good as the people who listen to it think it is.

  • her voice is so highpitched and young sounding :O different from the other female singers ive heard for them!

  • *expects Bauhaus cover*

    Nope. Ah, great song.

  • BEST. SONG. EVER.

  • Saw them perform this live. Was pretty great. :) Kinda mysterious and middle eastern... with a splash of otherworldly

  • @skincutter666 You sir are a true dumbass. You you do not like a song then please do not comment on such an awesome song. If you can't tell more people love it then dislike it, so you and your stupid opinion are invalid.

  • great song .

  • This one sounds differen than my version... O.oa Mine doesn't have a female singer, or at least it's not as obvious as it is in this version.

  • I really like this song. It have a cool middleeastern touch to it, especialy at 1:43 - 2:00

  • plz flag the troller's spam

  • @happyorks

    Done, and done.

  • Lol at the two losers argueing in the comments.

  • @whowantsabighug

    Only one now.

  • The instrumentals are perfect, just have the lead stick to drums or whatever and get someone who doesn't make me want to jab pencils into my eardrums to replace him and they'd have their demo

  • would It be weird if I said this song makes me want to run my hands over a beautiful woman's smooth body?

  • @XanderHunts not at all

  • @XanderHunts I don't think so. I think it's very sexy sounding.

  • @XanderHunts Ive come to think that a lot of their songs are like that...

  • this band is full of awesome

  • If you guys have any questions about what the song means just ask me.

  • @TheFlyingAtheist

Yeah, you obviously think it's an anti-religion song right?

Sorry, but this has nothing to do with religion. It's about hate propaganda manipulating the masses into turning against people they admire.

  • @Paramud

Look again. That is merely the application of the Jesus metaphor. A lot of authors use it for people/groups of people who have been betrayed by their followers and unjustly executed. Religious metaphors abound in all forms of art, and barely half of them are directly referring to religion.

  • @BTIsaac And obviously, Jesus had nothing to do with religion.

  • @Paramud

You don't understand do you. I said it's called the 'Jesus Metaphor'. As in invoking biblical motives, and drawing parallels with Jesus or any other religious lore, in a work that normally has nothing to do with religion.

  • @BTIsaac Right, so it has to do with Jesus and biblical motives, but it doesn't have anything to do with religion.

  • @Paramud

    Tell me...

How come you've been on the internet for over 4 years, without ever learning what "metaphor" means. You either lack High School, or you're intentionally pulling my nerves.

  • @BTIsaac Tell me how it being a metaphor makes it any less connected with religion.

  • @Paramud

For one, the religious parallels are there, but it's not meant to be ABOUT religion. It's a comparison. You know, artistic expression. That's what I'm saying.

  • @BTIsaac Why would you assume that he thinks it's an anti-religion song. Saying that would be like me assuming someone with a name referring to Islam thought the song was referring to Muhammed. Don't assume things based on people's beliefs, you ignorant douchebag.

  • @ZavTheInsane

Yes, look here. The song is heavily laden with religious simbolism and uses Godslaying as an allegory. If a guy who puts 'atheist' in his name shows up saying he knows what the song is about, it's not hard to guess what he's thinking.

  • @BTIsaac You're being a pretentious cunt about it though. If he wants to read differently into a piece of art than you do, well, that's the nature of all music/art/literature. You're just as wrong as he is to think there is "one meaning" of the song.

  • @BTIsaac I call them how I see them. You're a self-important bitch and you need to be called on your shit.

  • @BTIsaac You know you've lost the argument so you just cut and run. Nice.

  • Comment removed

  • @BTIsaac You desperately try to find a way out of the argument and BEHOLD! You can pretend to be offended by insults... INSULTS, YOU SAY!? ON THE INTERNET!!? You don't say.

This argument was over before it began, you pathetic little piece of trash.

    Cheers,

    Zav

  • @BTIsaac For someone with nothing to say you sure do talk a lot.

  • Comment removed

  • @BTIsaac Apparently you didn't get the memo that telling someone who is kicking you in the teeth that you like being kicked in the teeth doesn't make them stop kicking you. Are you going to address the issue or keep dancing around, if you're not going to say anything useful please shut the fuck up so I can stop replying to your insipid comments.

  • This might be my favorite song from them.

  • that chorus is something else.

  • Now I understand what this is about. History!

  • My favorite...one of the best songs from Abney Park....well....but all songs are great *_*

  • I found this group and went: "Hmmm."

In any case they're added to my playlist. Pretty good stuff. Weird genre. Good sound. No arguments from me.

    5/5

  • The chorus goes like:

We don't cry for the gods that die by our hands,

We throw stones if our gods take a stand

We create and destroy our stigmata martyrs, stigmata martyrs
