But you can't plant ENOUGH beats to get as much energy as oil forever for $1.90 a liter. You'll run out of fucking space. Not to mention you can do it for that price now with oil based machines. If you are running the tractor on ethanol it'll cost even more. lol Yes, there will be energy for only 1 billion people who can afford it because there won't be the VOLUME of energy that oil produces.

Nevertheless, we have to cut down on oil use now because if we don't a catastrophic collapse in oil production will occur, so the pain can be delayed but only at the cost of even more pain later. As it is now, there is no infrastructure to produce an oil alternative, or a sufficient number of electric vehicles.
I think there's some more realization out there, but it's hard to get people's attention and to change their habits, and let's face it, if people consume less, then some businesses maybe forced to close down, there's no way around it, people will get thrown out of work.
I am just about at the point that I am giving up. But, don't forget that when I tell people that I am moving to a farm and installing solar panels - then they suddenly have an opinion again.
They won't listen to what I have to say, but when I tell them I am stocking up on sugar, salt, seeds, and learning how to can vegatables they get offended and suddenly then they want to take me down.

I have come to the understanding people chose to remain stupid and uninformed. Nick admitting he would/could 'give me' 10 minutes is way more than most, but I am sure he didn't even do that much . The modern way of life in this country hangs by a thread in my opinion.
We are just like the states in the way we relie to heavily on foreign oil.
The sooner society gets back to the basics and stops doing idiotic things like burnout competitions etc the better.
