I have never owned a dog more friendly to other children than my Siberian Husky, adults are very weary (maybe past bad dog experience n all) but children can just sense the gentleness of them and they walk right up to her and she just melts with excitement to meet them, its an awesome site.

@filipinay100 A minature husky is about 5-10 lbs at most...... PURE siberian huskies are no more than 65lbs. If someone tells you they have a purebreed sibe and its over 70lbs, its not pure WHAT-SO-EVER! Sibes were breed to be no more than 60-65lbs. True Fact

If any of you young folks think about getting a dog please research them first. They are fabulous but a responsibility like having a child. They will live at least 15-17 yrs if healthy. I have had many breeds and I love my husky female best. All dogs deserve good homes. I hate seeing a husky in the pound. If any of you get dogs....pleaz love them their whole lives.

Well it always depends how you raise your dog. I know i can leave a nice t-Bone Steak on the table all day long, and he would look at it, but never snatch it. Tried this several times, when i told him that´s a nono, it was a nono. He would never take anything from the table or so. Looking at it, ok. Talking to it, ok. But never touching it. He is just an incredible good boy. Most things i hear from husky owners are telling me, that they can´t communicate right with their dogs. Watch em and learn

@lakotha I would bet money that if you left the house with the dog remaining alone knowing the steak was there, you would get home to no steak. My dogs wouldn't do it either while I am there, they know who's the boss. My husky is a bit of an opportunist and I think that's partly the beauty of husky's. They are survivors, they have certain instincts that other dogs lack. They don't stop being smart just because you train them to be obedient, and I don't blame them for that, they are not lap dogs.

@123backinyerface I agree with lakotha. I leave food out in our kitchen all the time, often for hours at a time when I'm at school, and my husky has never taken anything off the counters or tables. He gets enough treats when I'm around that he probably doesn't feel like he has to resort to stealing food that he knows isn't for him. He is smart enough to weigh his options, and decide whether it's a worthwhile endeavor. More often then not, he will decide to be obedient. It pays better in the end.

@jojoPANDA1122 That's actually irrelevant, if its hungry it will eat whatever is there. If you didn't return home for say 3 days would you still expect the food to be sitting there untouched? I agree for the most part when a dog is well fed and knows what it can and can't do then its longer before it will resort to stealing food. But there is no way on earth you can train that out of any dog, let alone a Husky.

I find that fascinating about them, they are almost in the same category as cats, instinct wise. Maybe that's what makes them so playful, mine is pure white and in the snow she stalks my other dogs like a lioness and freaks them out.

By any chance does you husky ever sleep with one paw behind its ear? I don't know if that is a weird habit she has or if its common.

I had a Siberian Husky until about three years ago, for about 17 years. A very sweet and loyal companion, and also one of the most goofy dogs I'd ever met.

I live in Florida, which has an oddly high population of Huskies, despite the temperature.

We'd let her go outside, and she'd lie down on the driveway with her eyes to her nose in the shade of the house, and the rest of her body in the sun. As the day went on, she'd move to match the new sun-line.

Love your boy! He's beautiful, and brilliant, no doubt. I, too, had a Siberian named Blue (official AKC name was "Blue Steel Sweet Fire". My Blue was red and white w/blue eyes. He lived until he was 16, and was running up until 2 weeks before his passing. I loved him so and feel very lucky to have shared life with him, but I miss him as if part of me left with him.
