  • If you have ever seen Kirby live this is a standard takeoff for him.

    He flies RC as well and that is a 3D move we do with 40% models. It's called a wall in RC world and a cobra in full scale

    In full scale hold the brakes, go to full power, release the brakes and go

    In RC, full power takeoff straight up into the wall

    Cool stuff when done right and he certainly does it right

  • Sure it's a stunt! The whole Red Bull Air Race is a stunt. But can't anybody be entertained and amused by stunts anymore? Kirby put nobody at risk, and it was kind of fun to watch. Enjoy life more. Don't stress over people doing stunts.

  • So, he didn't "put anyone at risk"? ANYTIME you do a STUNT you put at least yourself and anyone who happens to be around AT RISK! Something could have happened mechanically to the plane to make it lose control, smash into the other planes on the deck killing himself and some other people, or lose an engine, careen off the deck and plow into the folks on the pier. Or, is St.Kiryby immune from that!?

  • first off, thats a 300 Extra with a 300hp Lycoming 540 in a 2,095lb max gross plane...

    secondly its an aerobatic plane designed for that kind of maneuver...
