In the book, he is called Tristran Thorn. In the film, the 'r' was dropped so to make the pronounciation of his name easier for scenes where the dialogue moved quickly.
If you pay close attention at the scene where Charlie Cox's character says 'Is it they know exactly how to annoy a boy called Tristan Thorn?' right before they see the 'The Wall 60 Miles' sign, he pronounces it as TristRan.
The book and the movie were sooo different! They were practically two different stories. But I liked them both. The book had more action and the movie had a better love story. But the book's ending was incredibly suckish, which makes the movie slightly better. Ha.
yeah the book ending was pretty sad i think. but on the other hand it was one of the reasons why i liked the book so much, because it wasn't (not completely) a happy ending like in almost every other story.
Just one series of notes is really all that's similar. In today's world, any tune is bound to be similar to something, usually completely unintentionally.
sevencats is right!! It isn't just the same instruments, it's nearly the same tune! But so what... Such tunes are always used to create an athmosphere full of peace and love. The listeners ought to feel comfortly and such things...
It doesn't belittle the grandios music and the movie.
Maybe the same instruments were used but the atmosphere and the emotion of that track is absolutely different to the Lord of the rings Soundtrack "Concerning Hobbits"
The beginning is very similar to "Concerning hobbits"... I don't know what to think about it 'cause I actually like the movie (both LotR and Stardust) but I don't like when they make the music similar, especially when it's so obvious like here.
I LOVE THIS ONE! It's such a beautiful melody. So lovely and I like to tell that I'm glad such a nice soundtrack is about the BEST couple : Tristan & Yvaine.
This song sounds a lot like 'The Shire' track from LoTR, in the beginning ;) Ya know what I mean.

Nah.

Tristain and Yvaine traveled some years through the land behind the wall and than became king and queen.
The captain and his gay attitudes weren´t in the book, there is nothing about them. One of the reasons why I don´t like the book.
Also you don´t notice anything of love between T. and Y. untill they finally kiss eachother in the rain..
