  • i'll give you 5 dollars and subpar BJ for your drum kit and mics

  • Fucken niice!!

  • hey man, before your vids, i HATEDDD mapex. hated them. now, i gained a good amount of respect for them. the only thing i didnt like was the sound of the bass drums, theres no fundimental pitch. but everything else was really good. i'd like to hear back from you, what are your views on the kit and all that?

    cheers, Mike

  • @killu626 if you listen at 4:50 with decent phones when its just hats and kick i think the bass drum sounds sounds pretty good, low and resonant. but, each to their own

  • Amazing! How do you make the toms sound that deep and basy? And how do you tune and mic the snare? I'm thinking of buying a Mapex Black Panther kit and micing it just like you.

  • Simply Amazing! How to you make the toms sound that bassy and deep? I'm thinking of buying a Mapex Black Panther kit and miking it like you do.

  • what are your crashes from left to right?

  • Solid drummin' and a great sounding kit! What kind of Paiste hi hats?

  • wat heads?

  • what is the model of snare?

  • Honestly, the toms sound rubbish.. Not trying to knock you, the snare and cymbals sound amazing, but to me, the toms sound way to compressed! They sound like an electric kit. Maybe it was the sound you're looking for but there's no attitude to them. Good job anyway! :)

  • duuddee nice setup! i play mapex and paistes too! i have a mapex QR and paiste alphas. i still have an aqazarian china and solar hihats, but those will be replaced shortly. awesome drumming! check out my channel when i have some videos up (should be in about a few weeks :)

  • HOLY FREAKIN SHIT THIS IS AMAZING

  • does the snare have die-cast hoops on it like the current orion models?

  • The toms sound fucking amazing... Are you lefty playing a right handed kit?

  • @Anonymous122131 I think he is just using a technique called open - hand drumming, where the arms don't cross.

  • @JudgeMeUp Thing is, he leads with his left hand, on both crashes and tom rolls.

  • @Anonymous122131 shit, i didn't notice that, sorry man

  • What is the cymbal you hit at 0:56? I want one!

  • good job dude, solid.... 57's on the toms?

  • @iamcraiger me thinks there the audix equivalent of those if im not mistaken they are i5's or 5i's

  • @drumclanc how do you tune your toms? they sound fantastic, i mean i know its mic'd but still!

  • Him n Dave Weckl should battle

  • Cheers dude, to play with a master like Dave Weckl would be a dream come true! He is such a great player, I love the first Electric band record, really liked how he combined electronics with acoustic drums!

  • 2:04 - 2:06 sounds like Vendetta by Slipknot

  • this is my favorite video

  • Cheers dude, really glad you like it!

  • AWESOME

  • Cheers dude, glad you like it

  • sounds really good, but why are the lower toms paned to the left ear? i thought that you pan them according to how the kit is set up. im new at recordin drums though.

  • Each engineer has their own opinion on the matter. I pan mine from the drummers point of view. Most FOH guys and engineers I've worked with do it from the crowd point of view. This kit does sound great and wonderful playing also!

  • Cheers dude! Yes I have panned the drums from the engineers and audience perspective

  • nice kit...

  • Cheers dude glad you like it

  • im steeling those drums =) lol not really nice job man

  • Cheers dude

  • the toms sound fucking amazing..and the room sounds good to

  • Cheers dude, yeah it's a good sounding room.

  • i like the orion, but i prefer the saturn :)

  • i have the pro m. and it sounds pretty much the same as the orion but the finishes are no was as good :)

  • umm the pro m is no where near the sound quality.

  • different people have different prefrences to sound.

dont judge till youve tried every kit there is and know what you like in a drum.

  • lovely chinas

  • Cheers dude, Paiste make great cymbals.

  • What kind of drum sticks are being used in this video?

  • Hi, I use Promark 747 (the Neil Peart model). I also really like using the Vic Firth Steve Gadd model.

  • that sounds really really good man

  • Cheers dude, thanks very much, appreciated.

  • Do you use pro tools?

  • Hi there, yes I do use PT

  • wow that sound is awesome great drumming what kind of pedal are you using?

  • Cheers dude, thanks very much for your kind words. At the moment I am using two Tama Chrome Iron Cobra pedals.

  • sounds good very well recorded and mixed .did you add any reverb on the overH mics ? thanks

  • Cheers dude, to be honest I can't exactly remember if I did add any very to the OH's. There is some verb though on the snare and toms.

  • Did that snare come with the kit or did you buy it seprate.

  • Hi dude, I got the Snare with the kit.

  • wow, good sound!

  • Cheers dude.

  • look like sm57

  • Fantastic tom sounds. How did you do it? What mics?

  • Cheers dude, the mic's on the toms are Shure 58's with the grills removed.

  • What is the throne you have, i need to buy a new one with a back rest that isnt to expensive, Great playing btw. :D

  • Cheers dude. It's a Roc 'n' Soc. The seat is nice but the hardware base isn't very good!

  • are those 2002 power crashes or wild and is that a power ride??

  • Cheers dude.

  • Sick Playing!

and just out of curiosity, what cymbals r those?

    They sound amazing

  • i think they are paiste for the most part. I can say for sure the crash immediatley above the hats is a Paiste Rude and the China next to that is a Paiste 2002 series. only series to my knowledge with red lettering. hope this helps.

  • Cheers dude. Yes they are all Paiste (2002, Signature and Rude)

  • are u sponsored?

  • Hi, Mapex UK have been kind enough to support me.

  • nice

  • What Heads? Any Dampening U ROCK

  • Remo clear and ambassador coated. Cheers dude.

  • Cheers dude, they are all Paiste except for the splash which is a Ufip.

  • I think i might have posted this comment before, but HELL YEAH! Left Handedness! Great drumming!

  • strange seeing the performance from the stage but hearing the panning from the audience perspective.

wicked drum sounds though what are the mics?

  • Cheers dude! I have listed the mic's on the first video. Yes it's panned from the audience/ engineers view.

  • nice video

  • Cheers dude!

  • Hey I was just wondering how you got your toms to sound like that? plaese reply!

  • *please

  • Probably Evans Heads Withs O/E-Rings And Just Above Wrinkles(tightness)

  • Thanks for your help! I will probably just stick to Remo heads though. I bought a Coated Emperor X and it makes my snare sound like a beast!

  • Remo heads with O rings. Cheers

  • There's not much too it really, I tune both heads to the same pitch and I have used a little EQ on the console and I have gated them as well.

  • Thanks for replying! I am a huge fan of Joey Jordison and I want my toms to sound ike his. I know this makes me sound like a newbie to the drums (I am, since I got my kit at christmas) but what does "gate" mean on drums?

  • Hi dude, I suggest you read a little about Noisegates and compressors.Try looking at the Sound on Sound website. Cheers JC

  • Thank you! I will check it out

  • I have a 7 piece with 14 inch hi-hats, 16" 18" 19" crashes, 18" china and a 20" ride. I can only use 4 mics with my recording set up. I was just wondering what 4 mic types i should get.

  • Hi there, that's a difficult one as there are many different things I could suggest. Kick (RE-20, Shure 52, Beyer 88, Sennheiser 421, AKG D112) Snare (57, Beyer M201, Sennheiser 441 etc) OH's (414's, 451's, KM84's). 4 mic's try the Glyn John's technique? A cheap suggestion would be AKG D112 for the kick, Shure 57 on the Snare, Sontronics CT1 matched pair for overheads or 2 AKG C1000 mics. All the best, Joe

  • Thank you. I recently just bought a mixer with 8 mic inputs so i am looking into a kit like audix d4

  • from 2,59 onwards some examples for the "up and coming" drummer. Very good for teaching purposes!!!!

  • Cheers dude, glad you liked the video.

  • Nice playing and drum sound. The toms sound a little choked...did you gate them?

  • Cheers dude! Yeah I have gated them, perhaps a little over cooked! Anyway will be embarking on a new vid soon and stereo mic techniques and ambience will be a key factor.

  • hey man, I got a pretty small drum set compared to you, I got the usual drums, 1 snare , 1 bassdrum, 2 toms, and 1 floor tom, 14" hi hat,8" and 12" splash, 14" fast crash, 22" ride, 18" china and 20" projection crash. And I want to buy some set of mics, what would you recommend?

  • AKG, Shure and sennheiser all do good Microphone packs. I would recommend Sennheiser 421's for your toms, a Shure 57 or Beyer M201 for the snare, Beyer M88, Shure 52 or AKG D112 for your kick and AKG C451's for your Overheads and a Neumann KM84 for the hats. Though this will be costly i'm afraid.

  • i love the flam. its awesome.

  • Cheers dude, kind words appreciated.

  • dude ur seriously amazing do u play in a band or something/?

  • Cheers dude. I do bits here and there but not playing in a specific band at present.
