I have never seen this film, infact it was shown on the BBC a couple of weeks back and im gutted that i missed it, is it worth a watch? it looks pretty unusual in these videos, right up my alley!
i think Vangelis made this for first Rachel...the wife of Jacob, cause the singer here seem to cry just like Rachel did when her children wore killed !
My name is Rachel and this song speaks me to me...there is a town outside Area 51 Nevada called Rachel on the interstellar highway 375 where there are only 98 residents... where do you think they work?
It's a beautiful & haunting piece but I think it would have been out of place in the movie. The majority of the music track was fairly neutral emotionally (which was a good thing, I think) whereas this is very sentimental. The use of the vocal is also much different than the rest of the score.
The simple piano solo Rachel plays in the movie was more effective, especially given the visuals it played over.
Very sensual symbolism through Sean Young liberating her hair , ready for love andthose crackers blowing up their fumes like an ejac ! + allusion to this tapestry in the middle ages coinciding with the singer piece : la dame à la licorne.
Original Cut: She escapes with Deckard; pans to vast mountain side road (possibly long past the city limits; maybe cross country) of them driving up north to Canada.
@blackicewr ikr! They couldn't have chosen better. She looks perfect like a doll yet different. Not your typical beauty. And this was before it was possible to digitally enhance the skin, eyes and other features to give that vague feeling of plastic (e.g. Surrogates). Thumbs up. I love this movie.
je l'ai vu au ciné quand j'étais môme, le film n'est pas terrible avec le recul et au vu des autres films de ford, mais bon sang cette BO n'a jamais été égalée
@TwilightFire I've wondered alot about why this song was not used in the film... but after seeing a recent 1.1/2 hour documentary about the film, now I understand. It was a miracle that the film ever reached the big screen..it was meant to be a medium buget film..R. Scott went ove time for the film....which caused panic in the final scenes. They even tried to pull the plug and remove him at the end of shooting the film.
The final film was made on a shoe string buget compared to todays films.
Don't be silly, I had to check it myself to make sure I was right! You are right in saying that they have very impressive equipment and skill to create what they did with the original sample.
I really enjoyed the music with the scenes... I also like Memories of Green and Psalmus Ode... The first two ones are TIMELESS, intemporales si queremos decirlo en español...
Outstanding! I have the Blade Runner soundtrack and this is my favourite. It is so moving; this is what it is to be human (something we take for granted). I'm going to have this played at my funeral.
Such a sad and moving song... it affects me like nothing else I've heard. Rachael's situation in the film provides such a setting that no lyrics are necessary. Just beautiful.
Beautiful!!! .... I've seen this movie a million times, but I'll never get tired of this images, and you have arranged some in a most seducing and hypnotic way... especialy because Rachel's Song is not in the original film.
I'm an editor myself, and the one advise I'd give to you is that you replace the photograph at the end with some more movie clips, it slows the pace too much... Otherwise this montage is great, I loved it, putting the flames at the end was sweeeet!.... Congrats.

Very good portrayal of the lack of deep emotional connections she experiences as a replicant. Check out The Future Sound of London for a more modern take on this song, it's called My Kingdom.

Yes, Corlakis, I sure enjoyed this piece ( I didn't know ). Thank you for sharing and the editing !
As Sci-fi passionate lover since childhood, Blade Runner holds a very special place in my heart.
The puzzling questions : " What's life? What's Love ? " " Does artificial life has rights ? Can there be Love with an artificial life form ? " Intricate questions in the search of our human meaning.
As of today the Rachel look ( Hair up ) it's the most fascinating to me.
Well Done corlackis! It's a lovely piece by Vangelis, haunting and evocative...and the imagery you chose were bang on! Mind, there aren't many images in this gorgeous movie that wouldn't suit beautiful ambient music! Again, BRAVO!
There aren't many things anymore for a Greek like me to be proud of.Apart our history and the physical beauty of our country,it's nice to see that there are still many great Greeks and Vaggelis is definitely among them. His music inspired the electronica as a genre. This is by far the best soundtrack ever made!I 've been working for some time a video about a d&b tune, which is influenced by this movie and i just realize that it looks a lot with your video.Maybe i won't finish it.

I'm honestly not a big fan of Blade Runner but clips like this along with this beautiful song makes me want to pull it out of my DVD collection, sit down and watch it again. Great job! 5/5 on this.
I think this song should have been used at the end of the movie. That sounds weird but think about it for a minute... I'm not a huge fan of the end music anyway, but having this beautiful, but ominous music playing while they're driving north would be really powerful.
