  • This was banned? wow!

  • I thought that he was abraham lincoln

  • whats wrong with this again?

  • From Minstrel shows to the Jazz Singer black face was a way of entertainment. An art form as misguided as it was.

  • Racist?Maybe ...but look up Al Jolson(sp) on google.I'm pretty sure this was a nod to the then popular song "mammy"...by Mr.Jolson

  • just a sammy davis jr impression

  • thats not racist

  • Maybe if they would have painted Bugs Bunny's face brown like Black people skin color and not black like their hair. But other than that, I don't see a problem I mean Porky pig is a white man he clearly has their skin tone and everyone knows Whites are part swine.

  • um, i think its abraham lincoln hes imitating dude.

  • it's getting totally ridiculous...when i told some black fem co workers i didn't vote for obama..i was called racist

  • @1942PANTHERV You should've told her that a leader should not be voted according to sex, gender, skin color, (non-)religious belief or handicaps, but according to the contents of the brain.

  • @GaolisVideoLog I told her i didn't vote for him because he was a marxist..and his socialistic values wouldn't work.....hate to sa y it..but i was right!!!

  • @1942PANTHERV I think you should check up on marxism. Obama's health care program may be socialistic, but it works very effectively in Germany. They have a better distribution of hospitals there, low costs on medical support & also a higher life expectancy than the US. Marxism is very different from that.

  • @GaolisVideoLog ...i never mentioned europe...thats a whole different kettle of fish..over there what they call "socialism" is a different animal altogether

  • i enjoy a nice al jolcen referancw

  • They sd war binds door to door?

  • @szqsk8 Oh, yes. This was made back BEFORE the internet, when Pop-ups were annoying door-to-door salesmen.

  • Shut up, niggas! AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

  • I have this on a DVD set, with Daffy Duck Commando too.

  • why is elmer fudd obese

  • @THERealRibbitBartono what daffy duck cartoon was that?! I remember one where he convinced a caveman to blow up a giant inflated duck and it blew them both up, but i've never seen daffy go out of his way to kill himself

  • omg 01:09>stop vid>full screen>screenshot>LOL

  • @Lynvix lolol

  • this is fucking hilarious

  • see if a video is on youtube, in what way is it banned, banned by who and from what, to describe it as banned implies that it's in some way been censored and things don't ever really get censored, in that way. Over the years things move on, and what was OK for general prime time viewing seems a bit uncomfortable by today's standards, just cuz it ain't being shown on TV each night at 6PM don't mean its banned.

  • derp derp derp at 1:10

  • I saw it on TV. fun, but gets annoying. gee Charlie

  • I think this is more of propaganda than racist.

  • He whiped the blackness off at the end...They always promised me it couldn't rub off.

  • HE'S TAKING THE PISS OUT OF AL JOLSON SO HOW IS IT RACIST!?

  • 1:09 and a meme was born

  • I didnt see any racism, and I didnt see any hitler.

  • some pc prick got his panties in a bunch but missed the whole point of the hollywood( zionist jews) propaganda machine thats stronger today although christians are the new niggers. Moral depravity & social decay? thank a jew but not too loud because the thought police are near! lol!!!!!!!

  • He is doing an Al Johnson Impression that is all

  • It's a reference to Al Jolson--a minstrel player and actor from the Pre War era.

  • Niggers cry about everything

  • @fantomfosco so you guys complain about everything

  • 1:09 sooo thaaaats where that meme comes from.

  • how is this "banned" .. if it were "banned" it wont be widely available on youtube.

  • @dubtafoo It's banned from television.

  • Al Jolson was a widely recognized All-American blackface character at the time. It was not negatively intended at all. Actually, it may have been an attempt to be all-inclusive.

  • @mrshinkydink This was very true. Thank you for sharing about Al Jolson.

  • I have no words to discribe how I feel about this.

  • "any bwanddddds todayyyy" :P

  • HOLYSHIT, SONIC DERP FACE.

  • What a complete waste of government time and taxpayer dollars war bonds were!!

  • what I'd like to know is where did you find this? I would assume that if this was a banned cartoon from WW2 era USA, it would be locked up in a vault @ Warner Bros. Studios

  • @Godzillarulz ya but that does not mean that all of the copies got locked up

  • @Veren10000 good point

  • Thus ruining the whole episode, the only time daffy could one up bugs is by killing himself in front of a live audience. A whole generation of people will never get the priviledge to watch the episode. Essentially cartoon network took out the funniest part (the punchline of the ep) and made it just a pointless short episode of looney tunes where bugs trolls daffty.

  • Gotta love every time they referenced al jolson back in the day. What you gotta hate though is that they keep censoring the cartoons with him in it. Taking out the parts with him in it, or just not airing the episode at all. Fucking faggots. Cartoons were never meant for children looney tunes were made for adults. In the 90's these cartoons were unedited on cartoon network. You had daffy duck kill himself in an explosion. Now in the year 2011 that cartoon ends before he even explains the act.

  • You see why Daffy ain't in this. The little black duck is NOT pleased.

  • black face = bad

Wayans Brother's White Chicks = ok

  • @hogo1 I'm highly offended by your comment. To think that anyone outside of the Wayans family saw the movie "White Chicks" let alone liked it or considered it "ok" is just wrong. No one liked that movie!

  • @hogo1 I love hypocrisy.. and White Chicks was awful.

  • Comment removed

  • @hogo1 @ 0:48 is the new dance called the "BugZ"

  • @hogo1 You totally miss that. The movie "White Chicks" was not made to mock the white races. They were mocking "valley girls" specifically. And in the process, they attacked something that isn't really a stereotype. Paris Hilton and her peers are excellent examples.

Blackface, on the other hand, is a mockery of ALL Black people and is meant to disrespect an entire race of people based on ignorance.

  • @JudiG

black face was just good ol' humor

  • @JudiG exactly

  • @hogo1 robert downey jr played a black man in tropic thunder nobody got mad its all about how its portrayed

  • @hogo1 Jews ragging on Catholics in films OK Catholics saying ANYTHING about Jews BAD...

  • Where exactly id\s the Nazi at??

  • exactly, Al jolsen's appearance in the Jazz Singer, the first 'talkie. saomething the audience would relate to as 'old style values'

  • @eric5906

    sounds liek sum1s a nazi

  • Comment removed

  • In this Bugs is not being racist for a change. Go after Walt Disney at this time who was a Nazi supporter

  • Notice how Bugs imitated an Irishman, a Black/Negro, sung like the very popular Al Jolson, etc. If a person considers that "racist"....then they're just looking for an excuse to think thru skin color. And remember: ALL people...of ALL skin colors....can be "racist."

  • I was just thinking that this cartoon is a clear example of what would be considered racist today, but, to me anyway, isn't offensive. A lot of black performers also used the "black face' act, popularized by Al Jolson.

I don't know, maybe you're desensitized when growing up with this stuff. But I certainly didn't find this "offensive"........and I'm black.

  • I'll be impressed when some of you actually learn the definition of racism.Of course ,that would probably force you to change ALL those times you used it, thinking you actually made sense and change the targets you applied them to. I'll not hold my breath waiting though.

  • Comment removed

  • @darkhunter64 Could not agree more.

  • ohhhhhh yeah, back when America was acutally United.

  • buy War bonds or be drafted..or both..

  • yeah im black and i dont find this racist at all...maybe im not seeing the point?

  • There was nothing racist. Bugs was imitating Al Jolson singing in black face which was an accepted stage makeup in imitation of black performers at one time. Modes of acceptable taste change and evolve. People need to lighten up. When a white man is mimicked negatively no one cares. PC is running amok.

  • er, not sure whats racist here...

  • I didn't find anything racist with any of this it is good old entertainment and I have no problem letting my kids see this Bugs Rules.. Hell Michelle Obama you know the first wookie is far more racist then these cartoons

  • wow look at that reaaally fat Elmer!

  • The cartoon is banned from broadcast so kids won't see it and that's fine with me. As long as people can still have access to it through means like this. The only thing worse than the act itself is to pretend it didn't happen. People of a mature age can see how insensitive people were in the past and hopefully learn from it. I for one didn't mind a brown Bugs... but the blackface part was over the top... and unecessary!

  • Alright. This really cracks me up. Regardless of the fact that this is viewed as racist today, it wasn't at the time, and granted that racism was a thing of the time, but just like retard jokes, and the disgusting, vulgar humor of our time, I'm sure that things will come to light for our children just like it has for us. It was geared to sell bonds to the men of that time, not ours. Suck it up, it's history.

  • ok so why does Elmer remind me of Peter Griffin there?

  • oh no i have a black crayon THAT'S RACIST!!!!!!!

  • @ajgolfer1 reported for racism

  • MUST..... BUY......BONDS!

  • Wow bugs to believe I cheered for you in Space Jam. As for Al Jolson. Why couldn't he do his Mammy bit in his white face.

  • where's the racist part?

  • Nothing racist here, move on folks!

  • this was a good commercial for its time. It was expectable for whites to do that. To judge it without looking at the time period if came from is ignorance in itself.

  • At least a few people get this. Bugs is immitating Al Jolson who sang songs like "Mammy" in his act. Only those who are ignorant of early and mid 20th Century American culture would find this racist. Do yourselves a favor: search Al Jolson, who by many is considered the greatest Americian entertainer ever, on YouTube and maybe you'll come to understand the point of this clip.

  • @dog1701 Ah but your statement implies that because its history and relatively famous it is not racist, which is more ignorant than those you call ignorant. This was not intended to be racist, and at the time it was socially acceptable true, but the act it parodies is inherently racist. All black face is steeped in racism, but simply calling it racist ignores the social context of the time and place. We must accept aspect of history are racist, and something is not inherently bad by being so.

  • Comment removed

  • dog1701 is right. Al Jolson was popular at the time. They were just trying to cash in on pop culture at the time. It would be no different than if Bugs threw on a wig and pretended to be Britney Spears to get people to buy war bonds. Yes, the source material was derived out of segregation, but no, ultimately, this cartoon isn't racist in and of itself, because he's impersonating an impersonator who happened to be a popular singer to a racist audience.

  • "Banned"? By whom?

On what evidence do you say this was banned?

It looks pretty mainstream for the 40s.

I think you mean "It would not be acceptable today to do blackface today"-- and you're right.

  • Ehh, why is this banned? lol It dosn't make sence

  • I DIDN`T FIND ANYTHING RACIST ABOUT THAT CARTOON. BUGS WAS PORTRAYING AL JOLSON WHO PLAYED IN MOVIES. THE PROBLEM IS THE PEOPLE WHO PUT THE HEADING ON THIS ARE THE ONES WHO CONTINUE TO PROMOTE RACISM TO SELL THEIR WHATEVER IT IS THEIR SELLING. GET OVER IT ALREADY;{)

  • Leon Schlesinger = Zionist.

  • Fucking Americans...

  • Damn that's creepy, basically Bugs is saying people are coming to you door and your getting ready to be slaughtered. Now I know what it felt like to be a Jew in Germany.

  • really? o.o

  • 1:10 derp sonic

  • I think he was impersonating Al Jolson's black face routine. It was very popular in those days and was a popular subject for impersonators well into the 1970s. Then the politically correct Nazis took over and told everyone they were putting down black people by trying to stereotypically imitate them. This is what many black comedians have been doing about white people since...Go figure...

  • this song has been playing in my head all day

  • Black face was also done in The Littlest Rebel with Shirley Temple ( She was pretending to be a black girl in a scene) and by people doing Minstral shows. It wasn't considered racist at the time because it was socially acceptable in the time that it was done in.

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!

    fat Elmer Fud :<

  • ok this was ok till Bugs did minstrel face, i always looked up to Bugs but that tainted his image no pun intended. still love him tho

  • LOL hmm another racist cartoon, same Leon Schlesinger producer... is there a pattern with this particular Jew? Hmmmmm

  • If you really need a urinal, anything from over 40 years ago will do. The point of this exercise was to raise money to fight the fascist pigs who threatened the planet. No one can escape their time. At least the side the cartoon supported was morally superior to the alternative.

  • I had this on a Popeye vs Sinbad the Sailor vhs tape.

  • whos the fat guy?

  • @Mangaman369

    Elmer Fudd, before the reimagining.

  • FED Jewish propaganda. Existing valuesfor paper

  • Only a moron would say this isn't racist. White people just love to deny anything that has a BIT of racism in it. It's that denial of the truth that makes them feel less guilty. If I was white I would say "yea, it's racist, but who the fuck cares, it's the 21st century, we live in a different world." I'd confront problems like this, instead of trying to deny it ever happened or foolishly passing off something that is racist as something else.

  • @JiraiyaQWERT

Silly idiot, you've missed the point, go back to your NAACP bunker, there's nothing for you here.

  • @TheAlgorath The truth just makes fools angry doesn't it?

  • @JiraiyaQWERT

Wake up, nobody cares; everyone who was involved with this piece is dead, so there's no one to demand recompense from anyway. You can't change the past, but that makes you angry, doesn't it?

  • @TheAlgorath Not really, but I can tell it makes you angry that I'm calling you out for your grandaddies sins, am I right? I mean, why else would you reply back?

  • @JiraiyaQWERT And also, "You can't change the past, but that makes you angry, doesn't it?"

Yea, I can't. And I'm sure you're happy no one can. You'd be shitting in your pants if we could. I can tell your proud of it & you're past too. Yo wouldn't understand, but then again you cant, that's why you say "get over it, no one cares." No fool you don't care, cuz it didn't happen to you. But it's okay, year by year, you'll lose your importance. Don't worry :)

  • @JiraiyaQWERT

Nice, to bad my family were abolitionists in Kentucky, nice to see their efforts so enshrined, especially considering losing their holdings because they were white when the Union came calling.

Just move along, there's nothing for you here.

  • @TheAlgorath Yea yea sure, you're so good at lying hell you might be black yourself!. Because now you're a freedom fighter too? L0l are yous just trying to relate? Maybe cuz I said you have no idea what we go through, so now your making shit up. L0l nice try, but your right, let me move on, before you start saying you're great grandniece is black or your family was in slavery & you were racially discriminated against.

  • @TheAlgorath Though I don't agree fully with QWERT, you do realize he has a point. Also, yea you're right, slavery is dead, but racism isn't. We're white so we wouldn't understand. To you it's "OK Slavery was bad, we did bad things, let's just forget about it" like it's some nightmare we're trying to completely forget & deny that happened. To him, it's much more. Also, like I said, slavery is long gone, but prejudice & racism against all other people, not just blacks, is still around.

  • @ThrillerDude360

Where's slavery involved? Where's the racism involved? There is no point, there is no racism here; go after Family Guy or South Park, Betty Boop if you have to go old school, it's just not here.

  • @TheAlgorath That's actually true, I agree with you, like I said, which is why I don't fully agree with him. But no, I disagree with you right here, Family Guy, South Park, The Boondocks, those shows are not racist. They are like these shows, parodying the times in which these shows are in. Think of this as like, a Family Guy from the 20s or 40s. They are all parodying actual racism or slavery or blackface, or w/e racial or prejudical problems of the era they are aired in.

  • @JiraiyaQWERT its not so much of what people are saying than the preformances actual truth, "blackface" can be viewed how ever you'd like but its just theatrical make-up.........check out "1927 the jazz singer" spacifically "mammy", now at first glace most would be like "OH SHIT! thats so fucked up racist".......but if your interested in "blackfaces" background research it....."white people" all of them, a few, you would know right, thats just ridiculous?

  • @LiberatoRCOMMON I know about that movie, & I know that guy performed blackface in it. So what's you're point? Because it's in a movie, or in general any mainstream media, it's not in poor taste? If that was the case, let me get a Nazi costume, shave my friend's moustache into the toothbrush style (Hitler's style), & let me have him perform at a theatre or a bar, & let me see if it that wouldn't piss off a few Germans. You just proved the point I had in my previous comment.

  • @JiraiyaQWERT

ive watched it twice, i didnt see any parts that i would consider racist, am i missing something?

  • @JiraiyaQWERT you see i am not one to hang on to bull-shitty comments like this, i hardly check this things...but everytime a fellow "youtuber" like yourself says i am helping prove your point...yet would not even allow you to debate with me in the first place...where and how did i "just proved the point". pitch black make up is different than a swatstika, and what you discribing has happened in a motion picture called "the producers". Movies intitle a different stanza than real life ya twerp!

  • pause at 1:16 for retarded rabbit

  • This wasnt banned, i just bought a DVD with looney toons cartoons on it(including this clip) Resently bought**

  • One thing has always bothered me about bugs is how he can develop a camel toe by crossing is legs.

  • He's impersonating Al Jolsen. Look it up.

  • @CrazyBear65 *Al Jolson

  • you shouldnt have to buy freedom

  • it was more about impersonating the actor who did black face than the black face itself...

  • @theEmperorsTarot You mean the minstrel shows.......

  • BLACK FACE ........... SO NT RACIST TOWARDS BLAK PPL.

  • "black face" isn't racist its a preformace measure used to idolize the mouth (lips) so the viewer is intisted by the singers song, and its also aparent that bugs isn't even mimicing an african american.

  • @LiberatoRCOMMON You moron. black face literally heightened racist tensions for 100 years. It did however, popularize black culture. Some of the examples used were "the happy-go-lucky darky on the plantation. Denying it simply b/c you're white & you deny anything that makes you look bad or makes you feel less guilty or w/e you're reason doesn't make it less racist. This skit wasn't MEANT to be racist, it was meant to parody that racist show of performance. But black-face IS racism.

  • @ThrillerDude360 yep i am a foaming at the mouth white guy, ready to jump at anything that puts me down as a cracker species!...dont be such a blantant dumbass thrillerdude360, theres a difference in "blackface" and "stereotyping", but the truth is everything can be broken down and laughed at, or viewed as art.....thats the consumer, the creator studies and tries to find all the details in a topic.....100years!? its recorded history began in the 20s...!

  • @LiberatoRCOMMON First of all, I am white, so you don't have to use that dumb "cracker" term, & that stupid first sentence explains a lot. Second, you said everything can be broken down & laughed at & all that other shit, but I'm not even talking about the cartoon show dumb ass, nor black-face in theatre, which was in the 20s. Those are parodies. I'm talking about the black-face performances BEFORE the Civil War, & IS stereotyping, because the shit they did was meant to REPRESENT black people.

  • @ThrillerDude360 whats it explain, i am insane and white? it seems to me like you hide behind what you say every comment, if thats how you feel than feel that way, if anything you seem as though your accepting it simply because your white & you accept anything that makes you look bad or makes you feel less guilty. (i dont think this matters [cause wether you reply, im done with this] but i am not even fully white [big deal "white"....uh i mean "right"])

  • @LiberatoRCOMMON It took you like two weeks to come up with a comment & that's the best you can do? I even forgot I talked to you. You had nothing to say but you had to have the last word. I bet it made you feel REALLY important, didn't it? Hide behind my comment? Really? Because I can like pop up in front of it right? And now your using my own words against me? Really? Your whole reply made NO sense at all, why did you even make me waste the time to talk back. I won the debate, you lost, bye.

  • I guess alot of you missed Buggs in black face that is what the title is talking about

  • @QBALL85 America didn't ban the cartoons; the studio that created them did to protect their own image.

  • Why ban Cartoons in America? What happened to the first Amendment?

  • i wish that these old cartoons would be brought back......now looney tunes is just about tricking each other and hitting each other with bats and absurd items

  • @jason200912 they were back then as well actually but a lot of it was used for war bonds like this and such just as a lot of old cartoons were like even Dr. Seuss did political cartoons using his typical cartoon characters and such

  • Negro US war?? you serious...

  • these "racist" cartoons about japs and nazis and such were a huge part of the war. they helped us win the war more than you think. they were funny back then and they still are, in tadays uptight politicaly correct world you unfortunately cant do this anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • People forget how "black face" singers like Al Joslson (and many others) were loved, admired and accepted right up until the Civil Rights movement initially kicked in during the late '50s. Subtle racism was engrained in many aspects of American life, not only the lunch counters down south. Just because this cartoon was accepted back then, doesn't mean it isn't racist.

  • today america`s economy is going great. more war bond`s?

  • he looked more like abe lincoln to me lol

  • @ultrasonic99099 You never heard about Abe Lincoln having a black father? google it. His mom had an affair with a slave

  • I suppose this kind of stuff worked for most people.

  • i came here for rascism you suck!

  • @MrCameronjohns ur racist!

  • for those who dont understand how this was considered racist, near the end bugs did what is known as black-facing in which bugs is portraying himself as a black person and many took offense to this

  • Hello people! The objection was to the portrayal of the Al Jolson-like character. This actor-comedian made his money by putting black makeup on his face and lampooning poor ignorant ex-slaves of earlier times. This was especially painful given the continuing effort of Black people to recover from years of government enforced "teach no Negroes" law and similar attitudes. Study Real History!

  • how exactly is this racist? I guess any one would but that in the title to get views

  • There was nothing about a Negro in the cartoon.

Bugs Bunny briefly put on a blackface minstrel act, for which Al Jolson was famous for. By the way, Al Jolson was Jewish.

Say the wrong thing and the politically correct mob is likely to brand you as a rascist, sexist, homophobe or any other label which serves their ends (at the price of our freedom).

  • @MrPJ1954 exactly.

  • Ah, back when the war effort was actually necessary and not just to fuel the pockets of the government. Oh wait...

  • 1:09 So THAAAAAT'S where that meme comes from! XD

  • u guys must be blind bugs face turned into a stereotypical black cartoon face with the big white lips and the black face

  • @ladyOfDaGame.dont waste your time trying to inform these slavemaster decendants! theyll never hear. but still a wise comment.

  • wat the fuck i just wasted 1:36 on this video there was absolutely nothing racist about it. maby if you stopped examining cartoons long enough to understand that a bugs bunny cartoon isnt going to offend anyone, then you would probably have a girlfriend and possibly even a life you sick numbnuts piece of shit
