  • @bub2u3 you cant have your hand held through learning guitar. He plays it once through at normal speed then plays it note for note. If you cant figure out the tones and such for yourself, maybe guitar isnt for you.

  • Thanks Bobby, this solo is simple, beautiful and soulful.

Please don't quit making videos =)

  • There are a few people on youtube teaching this song. You are the best. You do it in a magical way that is easy to understand, and you are complete in every way. Thanks for your hard work and time.

  • Simple but beautiful.

  • ottima lezione....

  • i won knowledge and lost 2 strings

  • Magnificent execution :D

  • hey man i just wanted to say, ive been trying to get this solo down for months through videos and tabs but it just wasnt working. How you incorperated tabs and simpllistic teaching made it seem so easy, since your from canada, sorry bout the bruins

  • Bobby! Thank you so much for your videos & Tabs. Just note that in the 3rd tab says D string 2->7 and on the video "3rd string 2->7". Best regards.

  • Thanks Bob from Australia, well, from me in Australia anyway, by far the best teacher on youtube......thanks

  • hey where you slide up from 2-7 the second time, it's on the G string not the D string .not trying to be a dick just correcting :)

  • A "thanks" from brazil :]

  • Bobby,

Your vids are the greatest, I am looking at this one trying to learn your techniques.

Is there a special setting that you have on your amp? a pedal to make that nice going sound when you pull up?

I was just wondering cause I dont seem to have the same sound coming out of my amp when playing the solo.

Not sure if you could give spec on what amp and what setting or pedals you are using?

    Thanks man!!!

    Fab from Ottawa

  • great job really easy to follow.. would you consider doing a video for the solo from On The Turning Away from the Division Bell album?

  • @Rwbeatles95 a turning away is from a momentary lapse of reason, not division bell.

  • great!

  • we was already tuned brotha lol

  • I like the way you teach. Mainly because you say which finger to put on what string so i don't have to look at the video while i'm playing :) Awesome method. I literally learned the whole solo by watching your lesson only one time.

  • goddamn boby you rock.. and thx for putting tabs in your lessons its amazingly useful

  • i finally learned this bob thanks alot man louie

  • holy shit my fingers were bleeding on that high e bend. hahah not really, but god damn they hurt

  • Another great lesson..Thnx Bob

PS.. how about the intro guitar solo to Shine on you crazy diamond?

  • SWEET! e ;)

  • Hey man you're very good teacher!! I've learned a hell of alot from your videos,, It's amazing how when someone actually shows you how to play a solo the way you do,,Thanks man!!! There is another guy on the tube Duey101,, I have to say he is also very good,

but he has the sound/tone down to a T man check it out if you want !!!

  • How many people agree that this is one of the greatest songs in history?

Seriously. It doesn't get any better then MOTHER from THE WALL.

  • You are an amazing teacher! I have had trouble learning this solo from other videos on youtube for about a week now, I nailed it after watching your lesson in about 10 minutes! Thankyou.

  • i cant believe i stumbled opon this, i just picked up the guitar 3 months ago, buying an electric on a whim, (my 4 yr old son saying "daddy get the red one") i joined jam session to learn it. but they dont have any pink floyd songs, this was terrific, thank you for doing it.

  • Adorei suas instruções. Parabéns!

  • bobby, u dont know how well this particular video helped me. i literally am starting to love playing guitar because u have made it easy for me to learn. if you could please do a tutorial like this for marooned and i would greatly appreciate it. Marcus from Kentucky

  • dude u sound like travis pastrana.

  • awesomee lesson the backing part at the end was a great idea. thanks

  • i've just started learning lead guitar this is this solo in gmajor which i think it is where does the bflat note come ie at the 13th fret..is this an added blues note...please help anyone...great lesson!!!....thanks :)

  • sorry meant the eflat note...(just learning mind lol) cheers folks:)

  • hi Bob, thanks for the time put in to up load this lesson, just one little thing i noticed, on the 2nd set of tabs, you have written 2nd fret on the D string but as you show how to play you use the G string 2nd fret. i take it as it sounds correct that the G string is correct.

  • Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot. I learned a song in 5 minutes! The best lesson ever :) I liked that there were the tabs and that you showed also the chords!

  • very nice lesson thanks.

  • Thank you Bob, I'm an old PF fan,and to be able to play it is awesome! You made that possible, thanks!

  • Thanks for these lessons. You Rock!

  • Great way to learn this solo. It strikes me how Guilmore can write, imo, some of the best guitar solos ever and yet end up with something uncompilcated. He has the gift of be interesting and fresh regardless of the legnth of his solo's.

  • 3rd string 5th fret,4th strig 12th fret.These notes have names you know....

  • i guess he knows that but ppl who are tryin to learn it maybe dont...

  • Can I get my view back?

  • Does anyone know where i can find tabs/lesson for the extended version of this solo like on the wall live?

  • @floydfan831 . you can buy it in any good music shop. The net helps a bit . your looking at just a couple of dollars. Then you can work out your own arrangement to suit your own style..

  • i ended up just screwing arround untill i figured it out

  • @floydfan831. groovy

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • gracias muy buena clase te lo agradesco

  • Thankyou Thank you 3am and I can play it now !! corrected the error with the 2 - 7 slide 2nd string correct ?? Do you play in a band or solo home studio ???

  • thanks thanks thanks!

  • It's nice having the tab in the video

  • could anyone tell me were to get the backingtrack for this solo ???

  • Seriously, you rock for this. Thanks to you, I learned this solo in less than two hours. I don't care if you say "aboot."...

  • @kenlay we really dont say aboot...we could all make a video saying about...candadians say it the same way..nova scotians say it differently. Way to generalize dumbass

  • this was really great! love the song and learned the solo in 5 minutes thanks to you! youre a great teacher!

  • This is a fantastic video! I'm am determined to learn this, and I can't fail with such an amazing teacher. Thank you so much! :o)

  • Dear Bob,

Thanks for sharing this tutorial. Wonderfull solo, like most of Gilmour's solo, especially on the Wall, a masterpiece. Not fast, but very very effective (yes, Mr Malmsteen, it does not always have to be fast).

    Thanks,

    Ritchie (Amsterdam, Holland)

  • a little too fast but it's ok

  • does anyone know how to play the backing guitar?

  • Watch the lesson all the way to the end and he shows you

  • Excellent Lesson! Like someone said previously:" I thought only Gilmour could play This". Thanks to you I can know play one of my favorite Floyd solos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • Buen maestro que sabe compartir el conocimiento, muchas gracias por enseñarme esta cancion que yo pensaba que solo gilmore lo podia hacer, yo soy un principiante y ya toco como el gracias a ti.

  • Excellent!!! Thank you! And keep the Floyd coming!

  • Excellent, good on you for posting this to share.

I disagree with a post below that it is too slow. Any music or solo must be learned in sections. Its impossible (as you know) to learn an entire song or solo start to finish, it must be broken down.

Your teaching technique is very effective.

  • thanks much, you rock man!

  • my fingers are sore so thank man keep up the floyd i need u 2 progress thx

  • Hi,

    Very good lessons

    Thanks.

  • the best tutorial!!!!!! the greatest lesson
