New Muslims who enter Islam imagine MUslims should be so pure as Qur'an asks them to be !
They forget that that is the IDEAL which we should try to reach although most Muslims do not try at all !
Being born in Islam does not mean we are supposed to be most rightly guided.
Being born in Islam gives us best opportunity to learn Islam and the chances are better in the very same way as if someone who knows the question papers of examn but will not benefit if he does not prepare the replies well
Dr Jeffrey Lang seem to have become frustrated with our Ummah where people are more frequently trying to Judge each other.
That frustration was expressed in the video
Strangely I never watched Jeffrey Lang
I watched his lecture on explanation of Qurán 2:31-37 which was full of emotions and then I searched for his other videos and found this one which was showing his experience 20 years after he entered our Ummah.
from the sign of Qyama our prophet said there will come a time for my umma there will be full of them in the mosqe they call them self muslim even they are the furthest away from it i seen it with my own eyes it is true islam is allah deen i have no right to discriminate not human even any moving object on this planet it all belong to allah
Aminah Assilmi, a prominent Muslim lecturer, writer and women's rights advocate in the U.S., died Friday morning in a car accident in Tennessee. She was returning with her son from a speaking engagement in New York. Sister Aminah was reportedly killed instantly; her son was injured and taken to hospital. (5 March 2010)
@pqz91 Aww, dont ever let the Muslims deter you from practiscing the True Religion. Its actually really quite sad that its the Muslims themselves that are causing people to hate Islam, when it shoudl be the other way around. May Allah make you and I steadfast on His beautiful deen. Ameen.
islam is pure untiy i agree with wat he chats about . we need to stop the divisions sunni, shiite ,black, whit and brown when will it stop. keep to game and just be a muslim this means more then any sect or coloer . divide and conquer is the shataans game to play this game is a granted lost.
I think this is one of the problems in a secular state...this happens also in my country in Indonesia...although the number of people affiliated with Islam is the majority, but the quality of Islamisation of the community has faded. So I think, indeed present conditions we must work harder to restore the true Islam in the lives of their communities.
@ASA753 But people are people too, and they'll be nationalistic and cultural. The issue I can see is, because Islam by its nature doesn't decimate local culture, these cultures have stayed. The thing really is the transition of a people from one culture to another (American) over several generations.
The key is, as the brother pointed out, is a deep introspection on which of our practices are really from Islam and which are excess baggage.
@BelligerentPacifist Narrated by Abu Da'wud that the Messenger of Allah (saaw) said: "He is not one us who calls for `Asabiyyah, (nationalism/tribalism) or who fights for `Asabiyyah or who dies for `Asabiyyah."
The Messenger of Allah (saaw) referring to nationalism, racism, and patriotism said: "Leave it, it is rotten." [Muslim and Bukhari].
@BelligerentPacifist nationalism destroys & separates the ummah because we know full well that people tend to take it far too seriously where it becomes nationalist 1st Islam 2nd. Allah called us his nation & named it Islam this is our priority, what country we come from is irrelevant to how we are supposed to live under the guidance of Allah. some culture of course is harmless and doesn't contradict Islam example; food, ‘some’ styles of dress, our housing etc
@ASA753 I share your view. I don't think linking Islam with culture or traditions et c is appropriate. Islam is Islam, and when we talk about the cultures of Muslims around the globe, we don't say Islamic traditions, rather we should say traditions of our cultures that adhere to Islamic rules, regulation or criteria.
When I became a Muslim I was astounded at the amount of segregation of race, color, nationalists, groups, social status and cultural ignorance that exists in our community.
It is soooooo fustrating to know that Islam teaches the contrary, Islam is perfect and yet we don't follow the truth that is Islam.
"you are only a convert" I hated hearing that!
Alhumdullila I am a proud Muslim my deen is the only truth that is Islam..
@ASA753 Brother (or sister), if you think about it, Omar Al Khattab, Usman Affan, Ali bin Abi Talib and Abu Bakr Al Siddiq were all "just converts". So just ignore those who said that to you.
@ASA753 This has been going on for as long as Islam has been around. Once the a group of people came to Rasullullah and said, we'll convert to islam but we don't want to pray nor do anyting obligated upon us frm doing so, the prophet agreed but said they had to stay in and around masjidil nabawi for a time, the exact reason as to why escapes me and the outcome I'm unsure of but it's an example of how long it's been.
@onesuchpath Yes well it would do that to you wouldn't it? Can we imagine the Prophet (saaw) doing such a thing?.... never!.... he is the one we have to emulate and be like and he had the hide to 'brag' about it (slamming the door on these poor women)....something very wrong there.
@ASA753 I fully agree with your comments. Remember the Prophet (pbuh) last sermon at the Farewell Pilgrimage in (632CE) as follows: “....All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood...
@ASA753 strange that people make it sound bad that u are a convert for god sake the companions of the prophet peace be up on him were converts piety is the only thing that makes a person better allah says in the quran { the best among you is the most pious } but dont be many people are not practicing islam well so it shows on there manners but a good muslim will not act that way never

@ASA753 Poor you, there is no truth in Islam.
Why would any sane person want to bring their childred into such a hateful religion.

@FindingIslam Islam is not hateful, all new Muslims know, but Muslims often become misguided and retain their prejudice even whne they are Muslim

@farzanatasneem I find that Islam inspires hate towards non-Muslims.
I still haven't found any logical reason to consider Mohammad a prophet of God.
