  • i just noticed that his lisence plate says who 1

  • Jon Pertwee actually owned the 'Whomobile' silver car. He had someone build it for him. Shame the current Docs a bit of a spaz compared to the smooth Bond-like dandy Pertwee was. Lol.

  • LOL. A 1970's thrilling car/air chase consisted of doing up your seat belt! SERIOUSLY?

  • Lol, at 18:03, that's the worst green screen ever.

  • @JamesBondFan001 you mean yellow screen.and i see what you mean.the yellow is reflected on the metal.

  • @johnxgin1 Yeah.

  • @JamesBondFan001 that's the 1970's for ya!! haha XD

  • I love how the Brig's answer to everything is to call the MO.

  • Wouldn't the spider get squashed when he's driving the car?

  • And they said bullitt had a long chase scene...

  • @Catachan1brainleaf It wouldn't be so bad if the advert volume was adjusted in line with the video! There I am watching Doctor Who in the dark and suddenly there's a crappy advert booming out at me, waking up the whole house :-(

  • This serial wins the "Most sensitive portrayals of foreigners and people with learning difficulties" award.

  • Some adverts should NOT be allowed to be shown...exspecilly on a program that children could be watching! The worlds last chance advert should not be on here as it could really upset people and scare children if they happen to see it.

Apart from the adverts I have to say that this is one of my all time favourite episodes.

  • i love how this episode is basically one giant car/aeroplane/spaceship/boat race :)

  • The best Doctor Who chase scene ever! Love the old style Police car too.

  • Is it just me, or is this very similar to "there is something on your back" from the modern series? I suppose Russel T had to get ideas from somewehere lol

  • @doctorsdaughter01 It was supposed to be the same species.

  • this is one of my fav doctor who episodes ever!

  • one day DVD's will have adds

  • This is BBC worldwide, which requires outside funding. Quit yer yapping - it's free Doctor Who with minimal adverts.

  • @Catachan1brainleaf

this is what happens when an arsehole company like google buy youtube

  • @madman1221221 no this is what happens when Goverments passes legisleure saying that web sites that play vids must play ads, There afraid youtube and it's like will kill the media.

  • It doesn't help that the spider sounds rather like Alpha Centauri from the previous serial.

  • What would Jon Pertwee say about all these adverts?

  • The ads are really inappropriate to the audience. "Join the Army" ads when Doctor Who is fairly ANTI military (one of the reasons I love him in all his incarnations), ads for make-up when the majority of people who are into classic Who don't wear the stuff - Come on BBC, show some bloody brainpower!

  • Got to admit when the car chase started this became less Dr .Who more James Bond. I was half expecting Pertwee to address Sarah-jane as Moneypenny.

    :)

  • god damn adverts

  • the thing at 19:14 on the dr's car looks quite like a tv aerial lol

  • That cigarrete advert is really starting to bug me...No pun intended :P

  • @doctorsdaughter01 I,ve gt the Dr Who film fm the 60,s vs daleks on earth2051,and,sure enough the dr is hiding next to a big "SugarPuffs" ad/billboard in that cute 50,s ad style-it,s great

  • the spiders jumping onto peoples backs in this episode was a big inspiration for the tricksters brigade beetle in turn left

  • Sarah Jane was my first crush! And she's still lovely!

  • Holy crap, the guy at 20:50 is terrible.

    "Look out."

*gets hit by lightning, falls 5 seconds later with bizarre grin*

  • I hope that this is out on dvd soon.

  • me to

  • I want a hovercraft now.

  • 902 views? wtf. I would have thought classic Dr Who would have at least over 1000

  • it does now

  • Lol

  • Did the doctor just run that guy over?

  • whomobile vs. bessie - bessie wins every time lol

  • great to see "Sarah Jane,s" early work, as she has a show of her own now-BBC1or C- Beebies (Kid,s channel-BBC)

  • @tintriumph CBBC

    CBeenies is for 0-4 years

  • gosh - it's a different world - pre-chavs, pre-eu, pre lots of crap. Though weren't there power cuts around that time?

  • @grantha

Yes, loads of power cuts and strikes from fire service, dustbin collection etc, bombings by the IRA and tail end of OPEC oil restrictions. Petrol was available in 3,4 and 5 star and still had lead added. And yes, there were no hoodie wearing knife carrying yobs - just kids being kids. No such thing as low-fat skinny lattes either. Perfect....

  • @TK42138.. Yeh it certainly was a different time back in '74. No YouTube, no internet, no videos or DVDs and only 3 channels on the TV.

  • There's something on your back...

  • Yeah, Russell T Davies ripped it off with the Beetle on Donna's back in 'Turn Left'...Shame on you Russell!

  • @harryhillstvfart

I agree, not enough originality in tv or film writing. I believe in recycling but ripping off is another matter altogether.

The Eccleston/Tennant series are all too intent on pandering to the Playstation generation with attention spans of a goldfish (allegedly). I'm hoping the new Doctor will be 'Old school' along with the writing and plot lines otherwise it will just end up cramming in too much in 45 minute stand-alone episodes.

  • brilliant! but they should have called it grand theft who the amount of vehicle robbery, a marvellous story for jon to end on

  • I love it!
