  • i see no point in deadlift really it seems like NO one knows how to do them every one has a different way of doing it. Its dumb should callm back breakers thats all there good for

  • IWannaGetRipped`s comments shows he knows jack shit about deadlifts. (You unload on every rep with deadlifts. That`s deadlifts 101 bro.) Though maybe he`s learned something in the last month.

  • To wide between his feet in my opinion

  • this guy is shit at deadlifts. It's proven better to make sure that when you go down, that your weights dont touch the ground.

  • @IWannaGetRipped Their called DEADlifts for a reason. You're supposed to lift the weights off the ground each time.

  • so if i do this with that much weight ill look just like him??? HELL YEA!!!!

  • BREATHE MAN BREATHE

  • lifting on plywood with no shoes is a serious splinter waiting to happen.

  • I've seen 5' tall girls lifting more.

  • @sooupdragon Perhaps, but this video was for demonstration purposes, not for showing off.

  • breath :p

  • anyone can have perfect form deadlifting 95 lbs lol.

  • ...Christian Bale?!

  • loL I'm 15 and I can lift 150

  • why arnt you breathing before lift?

  • beast !

  • what a powerhouse!

  • was that like 100 lbs

  • Does this put any strain on the back at all?

I've never done deadlifts but plan to incorporate them soon.

  • @denzelnolet Yes. It's a great exercise, but if done incorrectly it will ruin your back. Perfect form is a must with deadlifts.

  • @norml840 So basically I should focus on my legs to lift it not my arms, correct? I don't get how this helps with overall mass building but I going to start doing it tomorrow.

  • @hereonearthme

It just hits so many muscles in your back and legs that its just essential for building mass. The hormones produced by such a strenuous exercise can actually help stimulate recovery and further increase gains in muscle groups which arent exercised in this specific exercise, merely due to how much it works the large muscle groups in the back and legs.

You should be focusing on as youre lifting, driving your hips forwards so your legs and back simultaneously take the load.

  • @Furicist Dont want to get funny here but tehnically the hormone thing isnt true. Theres actually practically no research stating doing the 3 heavy compounds releases hormones or even alters them that much. You know Serge Nubret? He never deadlifted in his whole life and well look at him! Deadlifts are a very very good exercise but dont do them if your biomechanics arent suited to them. I wouldnt say deadlifts are essential. Although it depends on your goals at the end of the day.

  • @Furicist thank you very much !

  • you should really wear some shoes with non-compressable soles, for the arch support. lifting barefoot is really hard on your feet.

  • @DKMurphys77

You train to lift fast, but when you are actually lifting a weight that is more than what an 8 year old girl would do, it won't move that fast, but being trained to move it fast helps with lifting it, especially past sticking points, etc.

  • you gerk up too quickly

  • he has one hand gripping one way, other hand gripping the other. that is strange.

  • @beijoso thats accually the best way to grip the bar for a dead lift

  • @beijoso no its not, quite normal, you just dont use this grip for very heavy weights as it put too much stress on the bicep

  • well ive dropped a 10kg weight on my foot with a shoe on and 10kg isnt much, but it still gave me some nasty brusing and nearly fractured it.

  • @haagendaz100 haha same here

  • Deadlift after squats is the best exercise for harmstrings and glutes..Check out my 135 lbs deadlift video!

    have a nice day!

    take care!

  • @NitaChicTV

Thanks for sharing your video! You're looking good :)

  • @NitaChicTV Weaksauce! haha

  • @NitaChicTV never EVER, do deadlifts and squats in the same day.

  • @ricksexyy umm.... a lot of strength / powerlifting routines have squats and deads on the same day, example: Ripptoe's Starting Strength routine. We're not talking about doing 4 sets of 10 squats and then hammering deads at high volume, deads and squats can be done on the same day when done in low volume, say 3 sets of 5 reps for each exercise. Cheers!

  • @GUIPenguin one exercises will always be worse off than the other. Its the same idea as shoulder pressing one the same day that you bench. Synergizing muscles take to too much of a toll, and you are unable to give your best on the second exercise in the order. IMO.

  • @ricksexyy I do Stronglifts 5x5 and we do Squats and Deads on the same day. Its actually great. If you can't do it, then fine. But it is possible and highly recommended....

  • @neoi78 youd be stronger if you didnt.

  • @ricksexyy Yeah? You might as well consider the squats a warm up. A particularly heavy warm up, but nevertheless, you ALWAYS perform better AFTER warming up... and not with just a light jog. Example: Running. Your first mile or two sucks. But after that, you can run allll day. Squat, and deadlift. Dont be a pansy

  • @neoi78 youd be stronger if you didnt. You get better isolation on the muscle breaking the two up. It also gives your core a day to recover from the strain of one of the exercises.

  • @ricksexyy Rippetoe's and Starr's 5x5 Starting Strength are staples in getting stronger and gaining mass for a beginner. Both of which include squats and deadlifts on the same days in the routine. Squats/Deadlifts are essential for all bodybuilders, the point isn't isolation; they're complex movements to encourage growth everywhere. Do some research on powerlifting too, learn before giving wrong advice. I bet you're the type that does curls in my squat rack.

  • @ChefGrogs good luck with that bro. Unless you're sticking a needle in your arm, or youre a competitive athlete, whose tendons are used to that level of strain due to years of preparation, I would not advise 5x5 for both squats and deadlifts on the same day. You can still do them on the same day, just not 5x5 for BOTH groups. You're insane. What is a beginner to strength training doing powerlifting????

I have my degree in sports medicine btw ;D.

  • @ricksexyy The exercises are mostly 3x5, the first day would include: 3x5 Squat,

    3x5 Bench Press,

    1x5 Deadlift,

2x5-8 dips etc. A quick google search for the program will show the routine. It's very well known. After you said "What is a beginner to strength training doing powerlifting?", nothing you say can hold any credibility. I wont tell you why, i'll leave you to google that too. It's obvious you have no experience in the gym, I hope you're not planning on becoming any sort of instructor.

  • @ChefGrogs You get your facts from Google, and I've paid 20k for mine. That's the difference between my level and yours. Ill see you in my clinic after you slip a disc you stupid shit.

  • @ricksexyy I got my facts from experience, when I joined a gym 4 years ago that was the routine I used. I'm living proof it works, so are millions of other people. Are you trying to say Mike Rippetoe, a world famous strength training coach is wrong? You can't call anyone stupid after you said "What's a beginner to strength training doing powerlifting?" haha. PM me and I will show my progress pics, anyone who has been lifting for just a couple months will know i'm right and you're full of shit.

  • @ChefGrogs 4 years huh? I've ben training for about 10. I'm saying that Mike Riptoe wants to make money. What he would call a beginner and what you would call a beginner are two different things. Do you think that he would give away all of his progression methods in a 40 dollar book when he most likely charges his clients over 100 dollars an hour??

4 years is nothing. You'll understand soon why what you did was very very stupid.

  • @ricksexyy You're clueless, I told you to google the routine because it's free. Every bodybuilding forum has it on there for beginners. It's not only him, there's Bill Starr's, StrongLift 5x5 and numerous other strength training programmes where Bench/Deadlift/Squat are the main focus and done together most workouts. You apparently paid 20k and spent 10 years in the gym without having this basic knowledge. You can't debunk something that is tried and tested. Guranteed to build mass and strength.

  • @ChefGrogs You're retarded...

  • @ricksexyy Aww lil guy realises he is wrong so turns this into name calling. You looked it up and realised I was right, couldn't argue what I posted and couldn't admit you were wrong. You've got some growing up to do mentally and physically lil guy!

  • @ChefGrogs nah bro. You think very short term, and you don't understand any of the underlying science behind weight training... and you play world of warcraft, I cant respect your opinion. You're a cretin.

    I

  • @ricksexyy Look up a "straw man argument", that's all you've been doing every reply because you can't refute my claims and prove your own. The argument started out as you telling people to *NEVER* do deadlifts and squats on the same day for a short term reason, now you're spewing some long term reasoning bullshit lol. How do you expect anyone to take what you say serious? I don't play WoW either, good effort though lil boy. Drop a PM, I'll show my physique and you can wish you was me brah.

  • @ChefGrogs gotta love it when people like "ricksexyy" think they know what is right and what is wrong because of bro advice and a couple books

  • man its easy to do correctly with 2 kg try it with 1OO...

  • terrible

  • Are you kidding me? You don't have enough sense to wear shoes in the gym and you're giving advice?

    Pleeaaase!

  • @coach9184 Why do you need shoes?

  • drop weight on your feet on you will know why

  • What are your shoes made out of!? It would still break your foot if you dropped the weights while you were wearing trainers.

I've actually had someone recommend to me that if you don't have proper weightlifting shoes to just do it barefooted because the padding in a normal shoes makes it harder to push up from your heels.

  • Try dropping a dumbbell on your foot with and without a shoes.

  • I don't think I'd notice much of a difference to be honest. Not unless my shoes were made out of steel.

  • I think it would make the a huge difference.. there is only one way to find out xD (outch)

  • I'll test it on my brother ;)

  • @Paradoxolog

in which case the steel breaks and stabs your feet

  • your such a retard, if you don't have socks or wrestling shoes its best to do deadlifts barefooted because you drive down with your heels. With shoes that have a heel, i.e. almost everyone shoe, it is a disadvantage to the lifter as well as a higher risk of injury. If you don't know what you're talking about then just keep your mouth shut.

  • yeah buddy lightweight

  • Hips are too low.

  • Are deadlifts supposed to be done in a slow controlled motion, or in an explosive motion?

  • controlled mediocre motion

  • Control your eccentric movement more and breathe dude!!!

  • he doesn't use his legs enough on the eccentric phase, there's hardly any hip flexion to begin with. that's the trouble with demonstrating exs like these with too light a weight

  • @DKMurphys77 to every rep there are two phases: the concentric "lifting" phase, and the eccentric "lowering" phase, you are supposed to perform the concentric phase (lifting the weight) as fast as possible shedding as many muscle fibers as possible, while the the "lowering" eccentric phase should be done in 2-3 seconds. This is from a book called The Truth About Building Muscle by Sean Nalewanyj.

  • @DKMurphys77 well...hes using light weight so thats probably why...but its not momentum..its maximum force(effort) lifting with explosive force.

  • that really was helpful

  • you have to be full of breathe before pulling. And pull from legs, that have to push against the floor. these are the things that miss in this video. the other things are ok.

  • thought the same !

  • ;) thanks, Connie Roleman?? hahaha ;)

  • lol.. breathe man! i thought i was theonly one seeing his head turning into a tomato

  • tomato head deadliftz (v) -

when your god damn head becomes a tomato

  • Look out Mr. Potato Head. . .

Mr. Tomato head is coming to town!

  • lol! tomato man!!! hahaha!!! :)

  • This is the sensored version. In the original his head actually explodes!

  • BREATH "!!1!11

  • I noticed both hands are facing opposite direction from one another. Is this how it should be done, or is he just putting a twist on it?

  • It gives you a better grip.. for such low weight you should use double overhand to strengthen your grip... once you're at much heavier weights and your grip starts giving out you should look at reverse grip etc... with deadlift grip strength is very important your body won't lift the bar if its feels that your grip isn't adequate

  • It's just something you can do if you are lifting heavy weigths. It prevents the bar to slip out of your hand.

  • If you are going to use this mixed grip, remember to switch it every set.

On one set, the left grip is underhand, next set is the right one.

  • that's how its done. his form is good, its just his breathing that needs work...

  • Decent deads mate, keep it up.

  • strong deadlift, theres nothing wrong with

holding your breath during the lift, it keeps you tight

  • 90% correct.. you forget breathing. your head got more red than a tomato

  • lmfao, I actually do see a change in colour of his face :P

  • I thought his overall technique wasn't bad. Maybe it could have been done from a better angle but he has gotten the gist of it.

That said, I agree with keeping the bar as low as possible. Simply having it on the floor works well enough.

  • Your form honestly isn't the greatest here. It's a bad angle the video was shot from, but it's pretty obvious that your eccentric path was way in front of where you started from because you were touching down on the front of edge of the weights you stacked up as a platform.

  • good catch. it looked fine from this angle but from a side view, the bar is probably a little too far out in front

  • I thought in general it was preferred to have the weight lower than ground level (for example, lifting from a platform so you can lower the weight to your feet level without touching ground). You seem to be doing the opposite (keeping the weight higher than ground level). Thoughts?

  • The plates are smalller than standard olympic plates

    Thus the platforms.

And It is also an excercise to deadlift from platforms. It's useful if you don't have problems with getting the bar off the ground but do have problems with bringing it all the way up.

  • lol
