I grew up in Kosova. When you have no functioning law and order people stick to their own kind for protection and justice. Further you have to take into the mindset people have "eye-for-eye" style of thinking. When the law fails to provide justice you create a vacuum in between groups. The Balkans is just the perfect scenario where lawlessness and greed leads to total destruction.

Its not that much about Kosovo. Its the principal of it all. They allow anyone that isn't Serb to get independence.Yet when we tried to separate from Croatia in '91 or when we TRY to separate from Bosnia in 2008, that move isn't allowed. When they take Serbian land away, its perfectly legal. Well it isn't.

Its winter time in Kosovo, so it would be crazy to become independent. They would freeze to death. 80% of electrical power is controlled by Mitrovica Serbs. Around 5%-10% comes from Bulgaria across Serbia. Albanian high council understands that it would be bad if they do it now.

I just checked, and around 62% of property in Kosovo is legally owned by Serbs. Just like 33% in Croatia. At least in Croatia they didn't steal any of it, it is still ours. So what are Albanians gonna do about that? Just steal it?

I take this back. I just found out that Tadic is secretly asking EU to just separate Kosovo from Serbia and be over with it. He will be lucky if he survives through next year. There is a an old curse, that says: any Serb that supports Islam on Serb territory is good as dead. I think he is placing that curse on himself. england is a very peculiar case in which they didnt try to integrate anyone and just letted it flow and even accepted some known terrorirts in england cause they believed that by doing that they were establishing an "unwritten contract" and that terrorists wouldnt attack them. in deed they werent attacked like other countries (in the 70s, 80s) until recently because of the bush thing etc but well anyway its no reason to generalize.

Kosovo was not always populated by a Majority of Albanians, as you can learn by viewing the Demographic History of Kosovo. But that is not the Point madbcc. See, we can't go on lacerating every European Country for the sake of Separatism or support of Minorities, that became a Majority in a small Region of a Country. That can't be the European Future. Integration is important. So many Countries fought Wars in Europe, but still they found a way to stick together.

Frankly i don't think that Kosovo will ever be Independent neither will it be admitted as Independent by all Countries. No Country, facing a high Percentage of Immigration and a huge Number of Minorities will admit Kosovo as a Republic. The Question is: Will there be War again, forced by Albanian Separatists, if they don't get what they want? That seems to me the most crucial Question.

Alot of Polish people support the Serbian position. Also, I know French, Italian, non-Orthodox Slavs, etc. who DO support the Serbian position on Kosovo. You must consider what the Serbs are saying. What about the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Kosovo? Haven't you heard about that? Albanians are not the only victims in this situation.

ok ..but Greece for some odd reason is considered to be a part of "Western Europe"..I have read some books on the Balkans from outside Serb & Albanian authors..and from what I've read they Stay objective...they present the Albanian standpoint...and the Serbian Side... Furthermore...Eastern Europeans didn't colonize the world..enslave Africans, etc..

Yes..but the question still remains...what will happen 5 minutes AFTER the fact. The Serbs are beating the war drums right now as we speak. Also, what will happen with the Serbian minority in Kosovo after independance...Is there no HOPE for them? Will ethnic Albanians exterminate them? Think about these questions.
