Well my experiences with a green laser pointer is the oppiset when it got cold it would get much weaker i would have to keep it in my pocket on cold days for it to work good if u check its manual it has a set operating temputer now if u want to overpower a laser u can pot mod it and cool it at the same time but just cooling it wouldn't work and a dpss lasers are only green lasers that have the two crystals that convert the 8-8nm inf-red to 532nm green cooling the crystals wont change anything

@JoshieBoiez then it won't burn. You'd need to ignite the flamable liquid before the paper burns. A red wavelength laser doesn't heat a liquid. No photons are being absorbed. The paper would heat up much slower and will only burn after the H2O solute of the liquid evaporates, leaving behind the flammable solvent.

Thats a red laser. They are not DPSS (Diode Pumped Solid State). Even if they were freezing it isn't necessarily going to help. Freezing it may even lower the power output. Some DPSS lasers need to warm up to reach optimal output.

1- There is only one way to prove you increased the laser's output, and that is to do an output verification.

2- Red light will burn black paper very easily... this does not mean you increased output, it only proves you did what we saw you do- move the paper closer to the laser pointer :/

1st: red lasers don't do dpss. Anyways, the commonly used ND:YAG or ND:YVO4 and KTP only work properly in 20~30ºc, so anything lower than that drops the efficiency to ~1%.

2nd: these crap lasers from china have a pushed up 100mW diode. ~130mW output tested.

3rd: if you put 3.6 instead of 3.2v, the driver wastes the additional 0.8v in heat, if he does not, you degrades the diode.

4th: MrThesubscriber99 don't even know what a laser is, and say this is fake.

Using higher voltage batteries should not run the laser diode at higher powers unless its using a really really cheap driver.

Yes changing the focal length or distance will help considerably compared to the laser focused to infinity.

Freezing the laser (or the DPSS crystal as this person claims) will not work for 2 reasons:

1. Its a red laser. It does not have a crystal set.

2. DPSS lasers are designed to run at a specific temperature, cooling them will most likely reduce its output.

This is freaking stupid anyone with even a little bit of laser know how knows that red lasers are not DPSS, like green lasers and even then this would not work because the driver protects the diode from excess ampage.

Nonsense. 1) The driver circuit cranks the diode with the same voltage, and converts excess volts into heat. Killing your diode. 2) This is the accepted norm for burning 3) Your laser was a ~650nm, meaning there are no DPSS crystals. And if there were, freezing it would turn it infrared.

500mW? Looking at the spot form that while burning without protection is going to give you serious eye damage very quickly.

If yours says 200mw and doest burn it is probably not 200. Real one should be focusable and burns instantly. Cost should be 200 and above. 50 bucks will get you a 50mw. Basically 1mw=1buck.
