The best trail mix for whistler bike park (for the expert rider):

warm up trail: blue vevlet into black velvet into crank it up into heart of darkness.

2 run: freight train into drop in clinic into crabapple hits into upper aline into monkey hands.

3 run: Goats Gully into lower whistler downhill into fade to black to glc drops.

in my opinion the best trails to ride in one day in whistler

@Timei It depends at what shop you rent at, look around man there are cheaper places. I never have to rent because I have my own bike but my buddy has and he had a pretty decent rate. If you go for more than a day or two you can probably get discounts as well. Even if it costs you 100 bucks for a day, Whistler is well worth it. Cheers!!!

i think whistler bike park is cool but its not quite the same experience as finding trails out in the open for free without having to pay or que and be scanned and tagged before getting on the lift. Its great but i personally enjoyed the trails in moab more.

I'm looking for traisl that take you right up in the mountains. what areas do you reccomend. im after similar scenary to colorado. i really get fed up of having to scan ur pass everytime you use the lift which is why i prefer free trails.

@666bonscott I've never been but from the looks of videos, most sections that are overly difficult have alternate routes. i.e. 1:26 it looks like the flags show you which way to go based on difficulty.

nice ride! what light settings did you use? contrast, exposure, sharpness, metering? just got one (non-1080p) and the video at 720p@30fps i get is dark, and slow to adjust from light to shade areas.

This was done with the Original Contour HD (non-1080p Model) at 720p @ 30fps. Standard output and uploaded the RAW content. This was plain and simple raw Footage. I now have the new 1080p model but never shoot in 1080p. I always shoot in 720p with 60fps. Hope this helps

i have rockshox totem coil and i like to run the softest springs for small bump smoothness but now they bottom out easily on small drops. is this a bad idea generally for courses with even small drops? would i be best just using the softest spring for courses with no drops. i always bring 3 sets of springs in the car with me

What bike would be excellent for this trail, would you need a rear suspension to do a harder trail than this. So for example can a GT Avalanche 3.0 do this trail or a harder one :) Thanks

A GT Avalanche 3.0 would get thrashed at Whistler. You would probably want a full suspension with downhill components. I took my Transition Bottlerocket up there for 6 days and had no problems with it.

yea the Mongoose Otero Elite looks ok. At the very least get some good downhill tires and replace the 44 tooth sprocket with a bash guard (Maxxis minions are sweet)

this is one of their more "flowy" trails. my guese is you could do it on a dirtjumping hardtail, but it will rattle it apart prety quickly. the other trails are alot more rocky so i have heard.
