A pleasure, Downbythewater73. I recorded (sorry!) a memorable DC concert, on my auntie's Walkman recorder (a very expensive and valuable item in those days) probably two years later ('88-ish?) at The Warehouse (off Wood Street, behind Bold, now 'cool' FACT/bar area, then a dark backstreet) run by a lovely guy who also ran a second hand furniture warehouse - next door? - and unfortunately ended up killing himself, I know not why). This also had fantastic keyboards, played by Vinny.
We saw Vinny and Bruce in Liverpool: Cafe Berlin, Bold Street: free concert, when Debbie was expecting our first child (who turned out to be Sian, born 5 October 1986). We sat on the stairs and Sian was treated, in the womb, to a great set. We've seen Vin a few more times: he is, like many Manchester musicians - particularly the eclectic Fac gang (we are scouse fans of which: non-sectarian!) very unique and very valuable. Continua Vinny! Continua Mancmusic!
This particular video on a Fac VHS was how I was introduced to the D C back in the early '80s. I have not missed a Vini or a Bruce lick since. The Durutti Column will forever remain standing.
I have been a fan of JD for about 8 years now and not until about 2 weeks ago I found out about Durutti Column. I have to say after a few songs of DC I was smitten, then I find this and it all falls into place. What a band, what a tribute, and what a fantastic blessing to music. Will be a fan of Durutti for a long time to come.
Wonder how many times I listened to this track back when it was released and never knew who he was singing about. This is a classic video.
