In case anyone wishes to argue with that assessment, I urge you to do the research first. The public keys that were obtained from the firmware are pretty much useless when it comes to building new homebrew or Custom firmware since the private keys are what allows the creation of signed executable files that will run on a PS3.

Also, Sony cannot change the masterkey. That is what was released to the world. I have a copy and so do many other homebrew fans. All geohot needs to do is wait for an email and he has it back. And he probably trusted one of his friends with a lot of files he made so he will be able to get it all back whether or not he turns anything over.

- The masterkey is what makes all the current games run. If that is changed then no games on PS3 will be able to run. That and the masterkey is embedded into the hardware. You don't know what you are talking about.
