  • ok so, is he in a tunnel towards the end? I can't figure out how he's not knocked off the board ....and looks like the tow skier deserves mass cred.

  • tout simplement excellent /..............

  • wow, backside too!. I assumed he was fading into a bottom turn.

  • did he live?

  • What woyld you do for a klondike bar?

  • The 1000-ft deep and 3-mile wide underwater canyon -- which stretches for 105 miles -- acts likes a funnel when it receives Atlantic swells, creating huge waves.

  • Amazing what man can do. What man wants to do!

  • Now if we could watch a video without Laird's ads we would all be better off!!!

  • Excellent que du plaisir ..................

  • All the white caps are crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Acording to my calculation this wave has about 81.964 feet. Put on full screen. With my screen size, the man measures 14 millimiters. The wave at is maximum measures 225 millimiters. Divide 225 by 14 = 16.0714... Multiply this number by is height (5.10 ft) = 81.964. Maximum wave height is about in the 24 second. I measured the top of the wave slightly to the right of the surfer foam track. The question is "wheres the bothom of the wave?" Still world record anyway...

  • 90 + feet. He never made it to the bottom. Good thing he took a high line.

  • This is so scary!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful green ocean, nice music to go with this surfing. My heart was raising thanks. thumbs up.

  • stop with the slow motion ur boring the world

  • the difference is on all the other videos they go straight down the wave... not this time

  • Portugal, surf and Fátima!

  • A'WAVE'ZING!!!!

  • 30 mt: un sogno fino a ieri x tutto il mondo del surf...a cosa non può arrivare la mente umana quando non finalizza la propria grandezza all' autodistruzione

  • Amazing video - I wrote the music by the way, track is called 'Surfer Girl' and is available from Audio Network.

  • @chiswaah Wonderful tune! Well done!

  • It doesn't look like he's having much fun riding it.... I think it would be better to just ride small waves, more fun... and there's still that "danger" element for you adrenaline junkies.

  • awesomeness - and cool music

  • I could do that

  • noting special... i do this all the time on my kinect

  • Awesome vid.

  • That's not really surfing if your holding onto to a rope being pulled by a water ski mobile thing!

  • @rwhaney77 I would guess they measure from bottom to top.

  • this is amazing ahh

  • You heard people say- "it will never be found", "it ain't true", "it just can't be".

I'm here to tell you these People are WRONG- I found it. Using Google Earth -

I found God's Watermarks of the REAL Garden of Eden. Look at my Channel and see the Video I made of it. I didn't point all of it out either- there are many things still hid for you to find. Come see.

  • @MCPM9358 You have a better chance surviving Russian Roulette....

  • surfs up dude

  • awsome!!!

  • Too bad it won't be confirmed since Guiness requires at least 720p lol

  • Just to mention this was in Nazaré, Portugal.

  • don"t make waves

  • Awesome wave!

  • The bible says God thinks slavery is peachy. I wonder how DHSpriory spins that...

  • A proper interpretation of the Bible would not lead one to conclude that "God thinks slavery is peachy." Try reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the dignity and rights of the human person. For a good article search on Google: "Let My People Go: The Catholic Church and Slavery by Mark Brumley"

  • @DHSPriory I totally agree with you.

  • like a bos

  • great music big sea guitar one should check out the red eye of jupiter coriolus to study waves also. There is live film section on the red eyes coriolus. Trade winds physics love the gutar allows one to be reflective without the noisy cyber attack .the definition of free space from physics.

  • first

  • mexican wave

  • @vissmeer portuguese wave, lol

  • @vissmeer It's a Portuguese wave, from Nazaré, in Portugal, between Lisbon and Oporto. Those more than 30 meters high waves occur due to a phenomenon that exists there called "the Nazaré Canyon", that's what creates so big waves there.

  • des is a ride...

  • WOW, imagine his adrenalin!

  • PORTUGAL!!!!

  • This is not a Tsunami -.-" It's a big wave but not a tsunami

  • And then, sadly, along came a 90 foot shark.

  • In my opinion this is not the biggest wave ever surfed. Sorry Garrett.

  • oh yea big steel guitar great audio thanks! Big sea guitar! Was it Praia do Norte in the Azore antipod tasman sea tasmanian devil bugs buuny McNamara ok nickname tasmanian devil look-a-like what was the hurricane that precipitated that wave. Volcano Canary island earthquake east coast america what hurricanes can also do.All those weather report time line i'll find it myself. Azores history maybe that what gaught Christopher Coloumbus to set sail the Volcano eruptions seen from europe!Cosmogonic

  • I have a stupid question. How can you tell it's a 90 ft. wave? It's not like there's someone out there with a measuring tape. How can you tell how high the wave is?

  • See the other video without the pauses. Garrett McNamara rides 90 Foot Wave! (Full Video) New World Record

  • Takes about 10s for the water to fall from the top of the wave. Corresponds to 9^2/9.8*ln(cosh(10*9.8/9)) which is 35m

  • this song is okay. All the pauses are real annoying.

  • im pretty sure a 90 footwave is a tsunami..

  • @ZeeCon300 A large Tsnami is 1000km/hr and all white wash. a 90 foot tznami would tear him apart.

  • @ZeeCon300 A tsunami is a wave with a big wavelength, usually caused by an earthquake, and the huge amont of energy put in the tsunami by the earthquake explains why it can hit distant shores. Nevertheless the tsunami can be 10 feet tall or 90, it depends of the structure of the bottom of the ocean near the coast, and the wave surfed here has a very short wavelength, meaning that it will not go very far, despite its high. All of this to say that it is not a tsunami.

  • i kinda like the song :(

  • What's the name of the song?!

  • Kieth Moon was a surf music fan he loved it. But that said this song was not what Keith liked. It was surf "death" metal ala Dick Dale or the Alantics . The Atlantics songs like Crusher , Bombora , Shark Attack ect were Kieths training wheels and why he became the worlds best rock drummer later on in his life. This video should have had a driving speedy surf song portraying possible doom, not the boring limp.... pile of slow goo, ya I muted it. I needed to stay awake.

  • ehhh i'd say its more likr 88 or 89ft, 90s pushing it a bit

  • @StraightUpMovies Someone sounds just a little bit salty. You mad bro?

  • loved the music... who is it, would love to download it. ahhhhh brings back memories....

  • Thumbs up if you didn't mute the video.

  • Good Lord Garrett...have you ever considered a safer profession...like formation sky diving? What an awesome ride that must have been....thanks for posting...and CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

  • @Arti575 As I say, if one day I would want to commit suicide, I'll try to do one of those waves. If I succeed, I'll be famous, and if I don't, I'll die in the best way possible, in a fight against Nature's strenght. :D

  • WHATS UP WITH ALL THESE BULLSHIT COMMENTS!.. This video is about EPICNESS,AWESOMENESS, and all the other ness that goes with dominating a 90 foot wave... peace.

  • @marzwulf Some people are here accusing Portugal of things instead of watching the videos. Well as they are just spreading hate I'll just ignore them. I'm here for the surf and the great Mc Namara. :D

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom that is because they havn't waves like this portuguese beach :D

  • @keplermission There are big storms there in the north also, the Invencible Armada was almost entirely destroyed in crazy storms when trying to go to Spain around the UK, some ships went against the riffs. The Iberian emperor didn't imagine at that time that the weather was so bad at that time in the north. If he could have our technology then, lots of lifes would have been saved. They didn't want to fight, tried to escape and lots of them went against the riffs.

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • NOW SHUT OFF AND ENJOY THE VIDEO :D

  • @Assassin2036 Yes it would be good just to enjoy the video but there are some people here (usually called "trolls") that are just trying to spread their hate, in this case against Portugal, I can't understand why.

  • If Portugal isn't rich it's because € is a big shit for all european countries. Greece Now Spain, Italy

If Portugal have his money they're one of the richest countries in europe

  • @Assassin2036 I'm against Portugal being in the European Union, I thing we would be better in a Iberian Union, Portugal + Spain + Andorra, being the 3 independent of course, just a union like European Union. European Union with different policies for each country doesn't work. Nevertheless we can't go out of the EU now, because our debts are in Euro. We must solve the problems first, and then let the politicians decide. :D

  • @SquishyCandyftw That's false. That means that Spartacus etc thousands of years before, weren't traded. AHAHAHA you're funny! :D

  • you are Haters !!!! Portugal is Smal but 2 Big 2 !! History Coulture !!!

The Last Resistance to Roman Imperium .... the ones who crossed an Ocean with a boat !!! stfu you haters !!

  • @TiTiMoney Something cool to know, the biggest galleon of the Spanish Invencibe Armada (composed of Portuguese and Spanish ships because of the Iberian Union empire) was a Portuguese galleon called "San Martin" / "São Martinho" it was the most powerfull galleon ever hehe.

  • EUROPEAN HAWAÏ IS IN PORTUGAL

  • @SquishyCandyftw so proud to be a surfer

  • @luckbokx my guess would be no. I dont think he could survive the fall, the impact and being held under if he fell forward. his saving grace would be if the leash broke, if hes even using one. I wouldnt want to be tied to the board.

  • GoncaloFerreiraCom who created that ??? Romans !!!

  • @TiTiMoney Yes Romans, and the Egiptians enslaved the Jewish and others, and etc, etc, slavery always existed.

  • and i tell you more !! we didnt fight our governement .... Spain is Spain Portugal is Portugal.... i clan teach you some history ... when Cristianic troops fighted Arabs in south of Iberian Peninsula this was devided in kingdoms not a country... 7 ou 8 kingdoms we portuguese defeated Arabs mussulmans.... and the 1st King Afonso Henrriques sun of Queen from Leon y Castella and he claims his territory .... we have a sigle language !!

  • poor ??? we colonized BRAZIL , ANGOLA , MOZAMBIQUE , tropical islands like CAPE VERT ..... we had tons of gold !! we are poor now because politics...

  • if he fall,so long my friend

  • @fleszmuzik Maybe you don't know that Portuguese are proud of their country the entire year. It isn't just when someone surfs a 30 meter wave. I don't understand why you say that only on that day people become proud of something, what a strange thought. Show me why you think that on the rest of the year we aren't proud of our country or History or traditions, or etc? :D I was always proud, I don't need a small 30 meter wave to be.

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom i said that, because I noticed so many people saying that (comments below)

  • @fleszmuzik people are just insatisfied due to the austherity measures due to the speculative attack that forced the Portuguese to ask help to IMF, but that's just people unsatisfied, they don't represent the 10 million Portuguese, or do they?

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom definitely it was awesome, I am sure many surfers dream to get a chance to surf such wave.

  • fleszmuzik , do you know what i like about Portugal ?? the 1st country to abolish the deadh penalty .... want to know more ? i like Portugal because when Spain tried to conquer Portugar... they lost... more ? i like portugal because we crossed the ATLANTIC OCEAN in a boat maded with WOOD !!! that is BRAVE !!!

  • were does the waverunner go? lol

  • @luckbokx nope.

  • @luckbokx

the answer is no. but he is a pro

  • Who does the music? :)

  • Guess when you play this close to this much energy...you simply can't think about it....

  • @luckbokx yeah man i do this all the time, i just don't like the press attention

  • I'M SO PROUD IT HAPPENED IN MY COUNTRY x)

let's hope it would bring many amazing surfers to Portugal!

  • PORTUGAL BABY MY COUNTRY......PROUD TO BE PORTUGUESE !!!!

  • Garrett is also in phenomenal physical shape, trains in waves of this magnitude consistently and can hold his breath under water for nearly two minutes, and has jet ski assistance to scoop him up out of the impact zone, so yes making falling and surviving is very possible.

  • He absolutely could survive if he fell. Keep in mind, he is wearing a newly released inflatable life vest containing a small air tank that with the pull of a rip cord fills it with air and gives him immediate buoyancy in the water, much like the air vests that inflate on aircraft.

  • @goodstuff999 hopefully it protects him from the wall of water that would be close behind him..floatation is all fine and dandy in calm water...

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 90 foot Wall Of Watery...can u imagine that, more than 30 tons of weight....F....Only in the best wave, food, wine, sun and people...YES PORTUGAL. J. Simão

  • PORTUGAL FTW!

  • aguante river carajo!! re q nada q ver aca...

  • Tsunami?? Nice vid. Horrible music

  • Who does the music?

  • Nice vid. ...too bad about the cult spam.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song?thanks

  • @petardo41 Chris Blackwell - Surfer Girl.

brought to you, using Shazam software

    Greetings from Portugal

  • hola como se llama la cancion que suena? hello what´s this song?

  • Nazaré waves are huge sometimes, that was a small one, the ocean in Portugal is really savage. They can be bigger than 40 and Nazaré people say that there were some waves so big so big that invaded the city parts near the ocean. Ocean is really nasty there, but the waves are really perfect. And there are some smaller ones of just 5 to 15 meters on other places. :D

There is also near Lisbon "Santa Cruz" one of the 10 natural surfing reservations in the world.

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom Of course you don't get 30 to 40 meter waves there everyday haha. But on stormmy days it's worse.

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom

show me some proof that waves are bigger in stormy weather!

  • @MrLietotaajvaards show us proves that they WON'T get bigger in stormy wheater!

    thx

  • @MrLietotaajvaards It's strange asking for that when everybody knows that that day wasn't a stormmy day. When there are storms, there were waves so big that invaded the city. You can find news on tv in Portugal in Nazaré saying that very big waves invaded the city and destroyed some houses.During storms, waves are a LOT bigger. That wave wasn't on a storm day, it was a "normal" day, although there are days with smaller waves also. Bug on storm days, you'll have bigger waves but impossible to surf

  • @MrLietotaajvaards Search for "Onda gigante invade marginal da Nazaré" and you'll find one of the many videos in which GIANT waves (much bigger than this 30 meters one) invaded the city and destroyed things. But those are impossible to surf. Storm days. Much bigger. It is a geological deformation of 5km depth and 200 km long that causes that. You bet there are much bigger waves there, but they will be killer waves.

  • @MrLietotaajvaards So there you have the proof. The 30 meter wave? Is small compared to some that appear there sometimes on stormy days. :D

  • @GoncaloFerreiraCom

what are you smoking? waves over 30meter on stormy days and nobody has a video of them?
