He has the best voice. He's gorgeous. He's upbeat. I don't think they played this in my town in 1965, but they sure did play 1-2-3. I tell my family, if I am ever in a coma or on my death bed, 1-2-3 will bring me out of it. It makes me feel so young, happy and alive inside.
Not only a talented artist in several arts, but a good man with integrity and sincerity. I had no idea until I just found out, but I always loved this song, always felt it. Glad to be born in time to hear it, Len. Thanks pal.
Great Song!! Take a look at the Cash Box chart at 1:01 and again at 2:35 and check out the songs. What amazing history it represents of timeless music. Animals-"It's My Life" at #36-Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" at #41- unbelievable!! How fortunate I was to grow up in these times. The charts were like this from the "50's" when Elvis inspired a generation all the way thru the "60's". That chart just hit me like a ton of bricks!! Thanks for posting all this Great Stuff!!
@74sodapop I heard on Sirius/XM on their Jan. 22 coutdowm of 1966 that Like A Baby was written by Leslie Gore. Today ,given that we are not living in innocent times anymore, can easily be thought of as having ped. implications
OMG!! I'm 45,and live in a small town just south of Atlanta, Ga., and we had an A&W Drive In like in your clip at 1:20!! This brings back childhood memories. The place is still in business, but it's A&W anymore, and they did some changes.
I always thought Len was a really good looking, clean cut guy. Just my type! His voice is simply magical. He was much more deserving of being a huge star; more so now with the talent-less sclock that's out there!
I understand how some followups can be pale imitations of the artist's original 'big' hit, but "Like A Baby" has always stood on its own, with such a hauntingly beautiful tune, soulful Len Barry styling and infectious beat - a wonderful companion to "1-2-3", NOT AN IMITATION - I like the comment about it being the "baby brother" - cool!
But yeah, always loved "Like A Baby" for itself.. Big hit in Jan-Feb-Mar '66 on WHYN Springfield Mass. Tks
I still love it.Many writers thought they hit a formula,so the follow-ups were done similarly.A-B-C and I Want You Back are similar but we love them all.
One of Len`s hits, but i think there`s better e.g "I Struck it Rich" and the best of all "Its a Crying Shame"now thats a great sound, please post that.
I remember this song......it wasn't a big hit but it did get alot of airplay on radio around detroit.I had just started the seventh grade.

@jctorontojctoronto But, if you made $100 a week you were very well paid.
My grandfather would tell me how as a boy he would take a nickel, buy an
apple pie & lemonade, and then take the change and gamble.

The song is great; some of these singers
don't know how good they are and Len is
a prime example; from my neighborhood,
Was ready to throw in the towel and bam..
released 1-2-3 and back in business...
so I understood from his realtives at the
time who were friends of mine.

Len was a hell of a soul singer. This tune was obviously meant to be a follow up to 1 2 3.
I'm surprised it did'nt do better. I think it's great.

It was a hit in Great Britain

@dunskie Yes , your right. But wasn't it the other way around. I thought 1-2-3 was the follow up, no??

No,he didn't write the song.Just a follow-up to 1-2-3.He hates the song.I love it. Real innocent.

There was a clip of Len singing this on 'Shivaree', here on youtube a few months ago. Unfortunately the poster was banned.
Didn't used to like this this, it sounded too much like a poor man's '1-2-3', but now, like you, I love it very much.
Len was terrific. A groovy guy with a groovy, switched-on, mid-'sixties sound.

do you know why it was banned I think he is absolutely gorgeous i cannot seem to find any other clips of Len singing apart from 123
