  • I remember this song......it wasn't a big hit but it did get alot of airplay on radio around detroit.I had just started the seventh grade.

  • Just heard this on Radio Caroline North. Well a recording actually, of a Bob Stewart show from 65. Great days, great Music!

  • The essence of 60s Rock--thanks, Len. A remarkable and singular voice.

  • He has the best voice. He's gorgeous. He's upbeat. I don't think they played this in my town in 1965, but they sure did play 1-2-3. I tell my family, if I am ever in a coma or on my death bed, 1-2-3 will bring me out of it. It makes me feel so young, happy and alive inside.

  • Great song, brings back good memories of the 60,s

  • similar or not this song is great.

  • ty sooooooooooo much

  • this video is terrific..the images far too haunting.

and that Burger Chef sign and store, something else.

I remember to this day Hampton Virginia Burger Chef 15 cents hamburger/ 15 cents fry/15 cent pop or shake..

am I delusional, or was it really 45 cents for the whole order in the day??

    great len barry stuff

    jctoronto

  • @jctorontojctoronto But, if you made $100 a week you were very well paid.

My grandfather would tell me how as a boy he would take a nickel, buy an

apple pie & lemonade, and then take the change and gamble.

Inflation is tax that hits particularly hard people who save.

But this how governments function and people want the governments

to do more. (lol) People are sheep. Roman saying, 'People want to

    be deceived, so deceive them'!

  • Not only a talented artist in several arts, but a good man with integrity and sincerity. I had no idea until I just found out, but I always loved this song, always felt it. Glad to be born in time to hear it, Len. Thanks pal.

  • Sounds more like The Four Seasons than Mowtown.

  • This is almost as good as "1-2-3" sorry to hear Len Barry doesn't like it. He is super singer.

  • The song is great; some of these singers

don't know how good they are and Len is

a prime example; from my neighborhood,

Was ready to throw in the towel and bam..

released 1-2-3 and back in business...

so I understood from his realtives at the

time who were friends of mine.

  • former lead singer of the dovells. had a hit with the bristol stomp.

  • unpredictabooba? what the %&T^ is that??? :)

  • Great Song!! Take a look at the Cash Box chart at 1:01 and again at 2:35 and check out the songs. What amazing history it represents of timeless music. Animals-"It's My Life" at #36-Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" at #41- unbelievable!! How fortunate I was to grow up in these times. The charts were like this from the "50's" when Elvis inspired a generation all the way thru the "60's". That chart just hit me like a ton of bricks!! Thanks for posting all this Great Stuff!!

  • Why can't they make music like this anymore?

  • yeah Lenny

  • Len was a hell of a soul singer. This tune was obviously meant to be a follow up to 1 2 3.

I'm surprised it did'nt do better. I think it's great.

  • It was a hit in Great Britain

  • @dunskie Yes , your right. But wasn't it the other way around. I thought 1-2-3 was the follow up, no??

  • No,he didn't write the song.Just a follow-up to 1-2-3.He hates the song.I love it. Real innocent.

  • @74sodapop I heard on Sirius/XM on their Jan. 22 coutdowm of 1966 that Like A Baby was written by Leslie Gore. Today ,given that we are not living in innocent times anymore, can easily be thought of as having ped. implications

  • any chance of NOw I'm Alone

  • OMG!! I'm 45,and live in a small town just south of Atlanta, Ga., and we had an A&W Drive In like in your clip at 1:20!! This brings back childhood memories. The place is still in business, but it's A&W anymore, and they did some changes.

  • Great song Len brings back so many memories of the great 60,s i was in a children home when this came out but we were aloud to here top 40.

Has Len got his own webpage.

    Thanks Len.

  • this is the music of my youth and of my summers still

    wonderful

  • I still play this in my car 44 years later.

Philly favorite. Knew his family; met him

later on; likable and talented; wish he stayed with it.

  • I hated this song, too. Nice photos. Burger Chef! 15 hamburgers for a dollar!

  • Great song-- but it makes me feel very old !! -- i remember buying it . lol

  • what a cracker! remember it well thanks for posting it x

  • You are just like a baby...Baby....I like the photos in this video......love you...

  • I never heard this song before and I really love it. Thanks for sharing!

  • I always thought Len was a really good looking, clean cut guy. Just my type! His voice is simply magical. He was much more deserving of being a huge star; more so now with the talent-less sclock that's out there!

  • wonderfull.. found this when searching for "1 2 3" of Len barry

  • I understand how some followups can be pale imitations of the artist's original 'big' hit, but "Like A Baby" has always stood on its own, with such a hauntingly beautiful tune, soulful Len Barry styling and infectious beat - a wonderful companion to "1-2-3", NOT AN IMITATION - I like the comment about it being the "baby brother" - cool!

But yeah, always loved "Like A Baby" for itself.. Big hit in Jan-Feb-Mar '66 on WHYN Springfield Mass. Tks

  • Len Barry I love you ! this song is great !!!!

  • There was a clip of Len singing this on 'Shivaree', here on youtube a few months ago. Unfortunately the poster was banned.

Didn't used to like this this, it sounded too much like a poor man's '1-2-3', but now, like you, I love it very much.

Len was terrific. A groovy guy with a groovy, switched-on, mid-'sixties sound.

  • do you know why it was banned I think he is absolutely gorgeous i cannot seem to find any other clips of Len singing apart from 123

  • Sounds too much like his big hit 1-2-3. I agree with Len.

  • I still love it.Many writers thought they hit a formula,so the follow-ups were done similarly.A-B-C and I Want You Back are similar but we love them all.

  • the 60's when songs really said something

  • One of Len`s hits, but i think there`s better e.g "I Struck it Rich" and the best of all "Its a Crying Shame"now thats a great sound, please post that.

  • I'd Love to but I have to buy his Anthology C.D. I just have a Northern Soul C.D. I'll buy it.

  • Thanks for your time, Len Barry is superb i love him.

    djdeitch(Dave)

  • Never heard this song before, but I like it!

  • Len Barry was the former lead singer for the Dovells. "Bristol Stomp."

  • Haven't heard this one in quite awhile. Thanks for adding it.

  • Brilliant stuff , i like all of len barry`s track`s but my favorite is " you baby " ........... K.T.F
