  • I’ve always defended him on that arm thing in Utah; other than the obviously crucial mistake of not telling anyone exactly where he was going and for how long , the accident was just bad luck, and solo canyoneering (or even hiking, or boating) wasn’t necessarily that big of a deal. After seeing this, I’m not so sure about Aron Ralston’s judgement. Trying to hit a huge hole on purpose, in fairly deep backcountry, without basic safety gear like a helmet, is very poor judgment and risk assessment

  • Aron, how easy is getting off the oar once you flipped? Great video by the way.

  • @ajaxkizer He has a pin in the prosthetic (at the "hand") that needs to be removed before the prosthetic can be released from the oar. Needless to say, it was a bit nerve-racking as this was the first time he had flipped while locked in to an oar.

  • @BryanMLong That was kind of what I was thinking, but that insures a nice strong grip on the oar. I'm going to have to add the Yampa to my list. I've done Westwater, Salmon, and the Snake all before breaking my back. I've just been able to get back into guiding private rafting trips after breaking my back.
