  • I donated yesterday. I'm a platelet donor, so the vampires get me in both arms. It isn't a lot of fun, but it is rewarding and necessary, and hey, it keeps me out of trouble, right? I'd urge all of you to donate if you're medically able, and to urge your friends and colleagues to do so, as well. A coworker needed platelets while recovering from a serious case of breast cancer, so I have a firsthand view of ho important it is.

  • I donated today and considered it my last time for a year becuase I planned at getting a tattoo for my birthday. My nurse told me about THIS video and I told her that although I love donating, I've been wanting this tattoo for some time. After watching this and realizing how important it is for me to keep donating, I think I can wait more time for the people like Madeline. Keep your chin up sweetheart, we're all here for you!

  • Why our jobs at American Red Cross is so very important

  • @Afriqueen4 So true! This story made me so proud to be an employee of the ARC! And to all of the donors who donate and expect nothing in return, you are all true heroes!

  • As a cancer fighter, employee of Nationwide Children's Hospital, former blood bank employee recent donor & father of 3 precious children...I was moved by Madeline's story. I remember shaving my mom's hair (picture of Madeline shaving her dad's) in her own cancer battle that she fought & won! My boss is Madeline's neighbor and shared this video with me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a beautiful girl and amazing story. Glad in some way I could be some small part of it.

  • Beautiful video. We have a similiar story too, I never knew how important donating blood was until one day sitting in the Childrens Oncology clinic waiting for transfusion for my son and they said we had to WAIT, that the supply was low. Cancer patients require numerous units of blood throughout their treatments. It is so hard watching your child go through something like this BUT they are the STRONGEST & BRAVEST people on this earth. Prayers for you Madeline that you continue thriving.

  • I am not going to lie, I just sat here and cried my eyes out!! This is why I donate, I am O negative and I donate regular this story was amazing ! Best of luck Madeline! I will continue to be your fuel!! ( Ohio here to)

  • @23Cavaliergirl Thank you for being a true hero! Donating blood is the most selfless act a human being can do, they are literally saving lives and expecting nothing in return. God Bless you!

  • thats my little cousin, no joke she lives in ohio we met her at another one of our relatives weddings before she had cancer
