@cimarronazul YESS!!! I've been searching and searching youtube for this song. Heard it in CHL, just the little snippet and now I've found it!! Truth be told, this song sounds so much fitting for a person like Hank Williams to sing, which is why this version is good. This is a folky country song, and doesn't sound right sung choir like.
im trying to convince my wife to let me buy a banjitar. i think i might just go buy one. and if she leaves, i'll play the blues on it. nah, she wont leave. that storm will blow over.
Oh, I forgot about the little baritone uke sized spanish guitar! I guess that 7 guitars, 1 banjitar, and 2 ukes! Some of the guitars in my videos are no longer mine because I've sold them. All of my instrments are for sale, but generally if one of them sells, I replace it with something else!
Yeh, the Banjo really got going in the 1830's and the 6 string was going since the 1840's in the UK. In the States as well as I know that company's like Vega were definitely making them in the 1800's. Banjos have always and still do come with, 4, 5, 6 and even 7 string variations. People who say a 6 string isn't a real banjo are plastic purists who know little of the history of the instrument. Play your 6 string with pride banjoists!
I tried two banjitars yesterday and they were terrible, i mean really awful sounding instruments, no projection and lousy intonation but i got to say the one you are playing sounds quite nice. I'm assuming banjitars have to be fairly expensive to sound decent.
As I recall, this one cost me about $350. The thing to look for is one with a real brass ring. Most of the lesser expensive ones are made of very light and inferior material. Generally, if a banjo doesn't have a little weight to it, it probably doesn't have a real brass ring, and that's what gives it that nice ringing banjo sound.
Just got one and it's great fun to play. I don't care if some banjo purists sneer at this instrument or care if it's called a "real banjo" or not. It's a really nice instrument in it's own right and gives a fantastic new sound for anyone into fingerstyle guitar playing. I guess you could experiment with different tunings for a more familiar banjo sound, but it's good for playingragtime, jazz or folk in guitar tuning, though it might not appeal to people who want to play bluegrass. Nice video.
i know but i was tauhgt to play the banjo by my uncle and he told me that a 6 string banjo is jusr a gutair wiht a ound of a banjo :/ he siad it be easier to lay thouhg :/ so maby hes worong :/
He was right! A six string banjo IS just a guitar that looks and sounds like a banjo! Hence the name banjitar! It is easier to play (at least for a guitar player) than a 5 string banjo. I can play a little on a five string banjo, but since I started much younger on the guitar I never could catch up on the banjo! The banjitar makes it possible for me to get a banjo sound without having to master a completely different instrument. And yet, for all intents and purposes, it still is a banjo w/6 str.
Right, wrong, or indifferent, I like the guitar, and I like the banjo. What better way to enjoy them both in one instrument than a banjitar? No need to apologize! {:o)
lol thats rght! lol i played the gutar but all the stirngs broke too mcuh pressure so i wanted ot try the banjo and i was good but i got to ge tmy banjo fixed needs a new base :(
Sure they are. It looks like a banjo, sounds like a banjo, and has all the same components as a banjo. Therefore it is a banjo. It just has one more string than a 5 string banjo, and two more than a 4 string banjo. Besides, I didn't call it a banjo. I called it a banjitar.
Beautifully played!

I just traded in my first 6 string banjo for the gold tone gt 500 (Bruce Springsteen has 2 apparently). It's great. I can highly recommend it.

A lot of original banjos were 6 strings and played as such. Check the wiki out on banjos.
