This is so good to hear again!!! I remember getting ready for a night out listening to Petes non stop mad music suites!!!! Thanks so much for the upload!!! I am 21 again yeah!! :)
If you listen, the music is also pitched down. You probably played it back on a tape machine which runs at a slighly different speed to the one it was recorded on. You can correct the pitch of the recording with many software packages that are free.
Jeff Young (and to be fair my older sister) was a seed of my love for dance music from the late '80s. Remember Jeff Young's "N-n-n-national Fresh"? Way back in the day we had to listen to Jeff on mediumwave...
God almighty, this takes me back!!!! I even used to listen to Jeff Young's Big Beat Show that eventually morphed into The Essential Selection with Pete Tong! Good times.

@rareads No manipulation of the tape speed. If anything, I would've up'ed it. It's just how Radio1 sounded in 1992!

@mingrey1975
Mate that tape is running slow. Everyone didn't sound like that in 92'. lolol
The tunes sounds ok but Pete sounds warped. lmao.
Good upload though mate. I've still got some these shows from '91 and '92 :)

Audio is too slow, needs the pitch correcting. Tongy sounds drunk!
rareads 10 months ago
@rareads No change in the speed involved. That's just how it used to be back then. Are you perhaps Bob from Barry Island?
