She really has come so far from this video. From a child we thought would always have difficulties to a VERY VERY BRIGHT little girl who is a month into 3rd grade math at age 7. I am forever proud of her accomplishments!
she reminds me of my kiddo at that age. He is 6 1/2 and HFA. He is very talkative and smiley like your little one, I bet she keeps you laughing all the time with her unique perspective on life.
I love the way you draw her out verbally ! My son will be 4, July 2009, and we do the same for him...find a subject he wants to talk about and just keep him going. You were asking questions and keeping her engaged...good for you..Autism doesn't have to be all strict and structured, every kid needs some fun wiggle room! Good on You!!!
shes beautiful....i work with autistic children..and for those of you who ask why she has a diaper on? im surprised she has anything on....cant keep any clothes on em.lol. most i see is a pair of buns running away. shes too cute...autism is a very misunderstood thing and many people just dont understand. so thanks for putting this out there.
Jo, I didn't know that. My son is 12 and has Asperger's and he's always been much more comfortable out of clothes. It never occurred to us that that could be an aspect of the autism! Learn something new every day.
i think its because of the lack of inhibition and heightened senses. one of the little boys i work with is severely autistic. he has an awesome memory and perfect pitch. another one i work with has a huge thing with colors..no matter what he asks for he adds a color. and to be honest when are they the most comfortable? in their birthday suits of course. so to be honest i think they associate that with being comfortable.
Pancakes!I aaked my son ehat he wanted for his 5th birtbay. "green".
When I showed him his birthday sandwiches, choc spread as a treat I asked him what he thoughrt was on them. He has only ver had choc spread at the two induction days at his soon to be primary school. He asked if it was jam and when I said no he took another guess. Pickle?!
I'm proud of her. I know all about autism and Asperger's Syndrome, and the differences between the two. They have spectra, and shameless to say, this girl is on the high side for functioning. :) She's very bright.
What are the differenes between the two disorders? The only thing that I have read that differiates the two is that there is no language delay or cognitive difficulties. Are there any more differences of which I am unaware?
@tiffanyb4 This is a marvelous video! Thanks for uploading it, and thank you for educating the YouTube community about the potential your child has. :)

By the way, the people who are talking about a shirt are so prudish!
At THAT age, what does it matter?
Above the waist, a little girl is exactly the same as a little boy.

Wonderful declarative title!!!
People should always approach children WITH a disorder instead of AS a disorder.

@naithom I'm the same way. I'd tell my mom the jeans felt like cactuses and the bathroom towel was too spiky.
Oh, and a Bug's Life, may i say the loudest, scariest thing I ever witnessed.

There really are none, that I'm aware of. Most ASD specialists hold the same perspective.
Needless to say, I knew someone with Asperger's, that was lower-functioning than some that have been diagnosed with autistic disorder.
