iv had 2 5b's please dont make the mistake of buying 1. as soon as you start hitting the rough stuff the engine brackets tear.(the engin is held on by the chassis) and every time you strip the cart down u have 2 replace very engine mounting bracket. i have a savage xl now and i love it its unbreakable (apart from tie rods) its an amazing truck.

@TheRockisSmokin The SS ( Super Sport ) version of the 5B has upgraded aluminum parts, is more durable than the v2.0 5B and has a 26cc engine, the v2.0 5B has a 23cc engine. So for a couple of bucks more you get a better Baja and the pleasure to build it yourself however you want it !
well depends on what you want and if you are stupid and break something on the baja then it will cost you a bit more to fix and the baja takes gasoline xl takes nitro fuel and if you really want baja wait for the 5t because it's a beast..also you could just get a savage x and buy the 5.9 engine for it
the saveg xl does have overheating issues but i heard the other day u can switch the gas tank and somehow that keeps it cooler idk what gas tank or how a gas tank could do that but im just puttin my two cents in
The XL has a "half tank lean " problem. This is caused by the L shape of the tank.when it gets to half tank the mixture leans out and that causes the overheating. To cure this all you have to do is set up a mid tank. That cured my problem =)
Wouldn't that make it run rich @ full tank then? Just curious because I have a savage that just screams but I want an "XL" for the length and upgrades but don't want any of the factory problems .What do you think of putting the K 4.6 engine in an "XL"?
Im not sure but your saying you have a Savage x 4.6 and you want the size of the xl? you can always do an XL conversion. the kit is sold in most places.

grab a header tank for a Raptor 50 and set that up between the main fuel tank and the engine. I think that's what SirSudiSavage was getting at
