I used a program called Madel32 made by Yo Kubota. I'm not sure if his web page is still up, but it's a great program - easy to use. It generates a MIDI file from a fractal image according to the parameters set by the user. I assigned different voices to the MIDI file afterwards to get sounds I liked.
@130adi The user (me, in this case) sets the parameters within which the computer operates. In musical terms, this means selecting a scale, pitch range, number of voices, rhythmic complexity. The program that I used (Mandel32) allows the user to change the fractal image from which the computer generates the music as a MIDI file. The final step was assigning particular instrument voices.
Hi - I just realized that I gave you incorrect information in my previous reply. The software is called Mandel32 (rather than Madel32). Sorry about the typo. I've been searching for it, but I'm not sure it's still available.

@freitasnetuno "are you telling there is no musical composition at all??? the fractal where turned into midi?"
I think the user still get's to use the types of sound... but other than that I sound chaotic as a fractal should.
