  • Camera man's been drinking again.

  • what the hell is wrong with this video !!! it jumps, its distorted, it looks weird, and thus earns a thumbs down. :)

  • just because your life may look glamarous or awesome to others, dosen't mean you truly respect it. i wouldn't say that he commited suicide, i wouldn't say that it wasn't. People sometimes focus on the bad aspects of their life and don't realize how much or lucky they are/have. He could have felt like shit and no one could have known.

  • George was about to be married to a beautiful lady (Lemmon), and was getting a nice raise for a renewal of his Superman series. There is no way he committed suicide! Get a clue! His jilted lover Toni Mannix paid for so much of his stuff, and was jealous that he was getting married and putting Lenore in his will instead of Toni. When George died Toni got everything from his will. Toni probably told Ed Mannix George was just a gay friend, or something. Ed woke up when George engaged Lenore.

  • He George Reeves was murdered--

  • Probably the best Humphry Bogart look-a-like / imitator I've ever seen.

  • Was this filmed during an earthquake?

  • Asswhole u wrong he never tried to comit suicide!this was mannix's work.period.no conspiracy theories, rusian rulet,accidents.period.bottom line is he n berns deserve new death certificate wher it says death by gunshot only. That ho monroe killd herself but cuz she was so popular they put on death certificate accidental suicide.what da fuk is accidental?shame on em!

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • i thought superman was faster than a speeding bullet? didnt george reeves die from a single gunshot to the head? now thats ironic! (:>)

  • is that one guy supposed to be "humphrey bogart" haha

  • ...damn Kryptonite bullets!...

  • I don't buy into the whole "hitman" theory but I believe that most likely one of two scenarios played out. He was under the influence that night and had been taking pain meds for a concussion he got from a recent car wreck...such a combination results in a depressed state in which people may do things they'd normally not do. Add to that that he had a history of a couple suicide attempts. The other possibility is that Lenore in a fit of rage killed him, either by accident or on purpose. Very sad

  • Allow me to begin with the fact that I'm a huge fan of GR and that while I'd like to think that he didn't commit suicide there are some truths that need to be said:

To begin with, the old hash about no fingerprints on the gun or no powder burns. The gun had been heavily oiled and at close range powder burns are seldom seen as they go INTO the wound. What does concern me though is that he was found lying on top of the bullet casing and there weren't any (reported) burn marks on his back....

  • there was no powder burns on the body if he shot himself there would have been powder burns on his gun hand.

  • 2 words: murder & cover up

  • Very interesting video.

  • it was murdered i know i can feel it

  • I always thought Larson was hot, although my heart has always belonged to Superman.

  • He was found in his room alone . He had mental issues . He had been typecasted as Superman so he couldn't even get work as an extra . Were talking about this pesons livelyhood destroyed . He committed suicide and by doing so he proved to everyone that he was treated poorly , left those who treated him this way w/a guilty conscience & that by killing himself he also killed the myth of Superman , went to his grave w/a big smile .

It would be many decades before that franchise would recover.

  • @cdddraftsman George Reeves was not unable to find work, he did not have mental issues. He was going to star in and direct another season of The Adventures of Superman in 1959. Scripts for a Fall 59 season were being prepared in May. Pierre Watkin had been hired to play Perry White's brother while Mr. White was on an extended vacation since John Hamilton had actually died of a heart attack in October '58. George was also going to direct a movie called Return to Earth starring Phyllis Coates.

  • It's Bush's fault!

  • I too was amazed at the sparking resemebellence of this naratotor as being Bogart.... And I never will Think He Killed himself, Nope and the killer is out there... It May be a Cold case, But I believe the kiler is out there.... Even though I wasn't even born before his demise or maybe 3 yr's old He was murderded And thats the way it is, As Cronkite would have said iit....

    '

  • I must be more stoned then I thought... I was really confused how humphrey Bogart was narrating :P

  • If a time machine was "REAL" then I say use it to travel to different points in history and find out what really happen. you could solve a lot of Unsolved Mysteries by finding out what really happen...to George Reeves,, or John F Kennedy when he died in dallas ..or if Billy the Kid Really died or lived to ripe old age...just as examples of mysteries that could be solved.

  • Was Jack Larson (played "Jimmy Olsen") really gay?

  • Yep. Fully out in the open.

  • They were kryptonite bullets.

  • " If We Ever Need A Super Man " by John Hunter Phillips on youtube

  • Could you have the sense to put the camcorder on a tripod?

  • reeves was murdered

    how stupid were they

  • Some people at a party decided they would go up stairs and target practice on superman. They saw it done hundreds of times on the show.after all they were all drunk.

  • then why don't someone reopen the case and get to the truth about george's death????

  • Interesting video. BUY A TRIPOD!

  • no that is not Humphrey Bogart just a guy named Robert Sacchi who does a imperssionation of Humphrey Bogart, on the you tube in the top right corner it mentions it in the info section.

  • Is that Humphrey Bogart ? I sounds and look just like him.

  • read the description

  • there were no finger prints on the gun how do you explain that? it was a hitman....

  • FYI, because of the texture and finish it is almost impossible to get a useful finger print from a hand gun. What is more telling is the lack of powder burns on George Reeves' body...

  • another vid said something about the position of his body weather it was forwad or backward i forgot but his position was not characteristic of suicides

  • The gun was also oiled down.

  • No problem with the jitters! Thanks for posting the vid!

  • Robert Sacchi... awesome.

  • that one guy looks like humphrey bogart LOL

  • I've watched "Hollywoodland", a great film staring Adrien Brody and Ben Affleck, over and over, and it never ceases to amaze me. It's one of the most complex films I've ever seen with its detailed account of George Reeve's life and untimely death. I thought it portrayed George as a very good actor who was unfortunately typecasted and also blacklisted.

  • This is just a way to add a mystery to his death. A man who worked on the show is retired here now and said Reeves had a dark side to him.

  • Damn...Jimmy Olsen hasn't changed a bit...on ya Jimbo.

  • Toni harassed Reeves, absconded with (and probably killed) his beloved Schnauzer, Sam, pestered him incessantly with hang-up calls, and telephone threats. I don't think Eddie would have allowed that if he had serious and immediate plans to deal with Reeves

  • If Eddie had anything to do with it, George Reeves probably would have been killed a lot earlier than he was and not from cutting the brake lines of his car and staging an auto accident... It seems too amateurish for someone as professional and ruthless as Eddie Mannix... He probably wouldn't have allowed his wife to communicate or do anything to Reeves to keep the element of surprise open...

  • Jack Larson and Noel Neill aged very well.

  • I guess what is truly important is that their is reasonable evidence to piont the crime away from being a cemented suicide. Unfortunately at this time it is highly unlikely we will ever know the truth, which can be viewed as truly unfortunate or somewhat lucky for George Reeves. Regardless he brought of happiness to our parents, and grandparents so he deserves much respect for that.

  • They say it was suicide, however the situation points more toward murder when they mention the people in his life at that time.

Toni Mannix who was the wife of Eddie Mannix who had a mistress he was cheating with.

Eddie Mannix who was the head of MGM and saw it as you can date my wife, but make her cry and you're a dead man.

Ms.Lemmons who wanted to marry Reeves and was jealous of Reeves former time relationship with Toni. Did anyone know that his brakes were drained once causing a crash?

  • I think it is also possible Eddie himself may have had little to do with the murder... At the time he was very ill. I strongly believe Toni could have enlisted the muscle to do this on her own...

  • Yes it could also be a possibility as well. Who knows though for sure? To this very day the case has never been solved correctly and this goes all the way back to the 50s.

  • I think Jack Larson knows enough about what happened and I think Toni Mannix confirmed it in the beginning of her senility. I feel very sorry for Larson if that's true. He must be feeling like Atlas.

  • Love ol' Sacchi popping up. Stroke of genius, that.

  • It was VERY ironic that, playing a character who's faster than a speeding bullet, it was the aforementioned that ended hiis life on the night of 15-16 June 1959.

  • if this was 1982, then tonni maddix would have still been alive to see this. doubt she was too happy!

  • She had Alzheimer's and had less than a year and a half left... She may have been too far gone to notice by then.

  • Dear OakandWidow,

    I agree with you!

I no longer believe that Mr.Reeves

kiled himself..There are too many holes

    in that theory.

And since..he was involed with two women

..who took tremendious advvantage of him?

    They had him killed.

  • I agree. I recently watched the movie with ben affleck. I think theres no way George Reeves shot himself.

  • the narrator looks alot like bogart

  • I never seen this documentary on

ET...this is my first viewing of the

recreation of this actor's tradgetic death.

  • I doubt very seriously Reeves killed himself... He wasn't that depressed, he was going to direct a movie after his honeymoon, and he was signed up for a 1960 and 1961 season of the Adventures of Superman... However his jilted lover, Toni Mannix, who had underworld connections through her husband, MGM Vice Prisident Eddie Mannix had reasons for getting the last word on her boy toy.

  • I agree with you, there is just something fishy about all this. Suicide is an awful way to end your life, you don't get peace, you go to Hell.

  • Only if you believe in the Jewish bible...better known as "The Bible."

  • I have no doubt that he killed himself. Many who knew him think he did.

  • Jack Larson is too nervous... He knows a lot more than he's telling and it's killing him.

  • One of my favorite old time TV series. My father and I looked forward every week for The Adventures of Superman when it was on TV way back in the 50's. I have watched every episode from Netflix and it brings back memories of my father.
