Anyway, am I doing something wrong? I already beat this thing once or twice (yes, I went to this "person") and all I got was...well, I don't remember, but it wasn't Energy Crystals. Am I missing something?

@strangedaysfan You need to have the rare item abillity from Bahamutt or Eden, also you have to get it at a certain level because FFVIII is not all about building levels for more HP. Its really your junctions....also have the Mug abillity from Diablos, Bahamutt, or Eden.

is there a certain level you have to be to get the energy crystals i fought that monster and i got moon stones.... and i need some pluse ammo and some dragon fangs to get the lionheart i had the lionheart my last playthrought but i was level 100 and had prablems with the omega weapon so i started over and my charaters are in the 40's

@artonelicomasterjosh Levels don't matter in this game....its how well you junction your party to withstand Omega.

I find Degenerator to be more reliable kills its target instantly 100% of the time with 3x Status Attack users + 100 Death spells sometimes I'd have to attack it for 3 full turns before it instantly dies.

But I used the Energy Crystals NOT for the Lionheart (I made it on disc 1) I used them for 300x Ultima spells instead.

@guymanjoni easiest is fighting lots of monsters in esthar city, you can draw death from those tiger like beasts and some drops there can be transformed to 20 death each

@guymanjoni Use the card modding ability you get from Quezacotl and mod the odin card which refines into 100 dead spirits,and use the L MAG-RF which 1 dead spirit refines into 20 deaths,hope this helps.

I've fought this specific Elnoyle 5 times and have never once gotten energy crystals. do I have to Lv Up Elnoyle to get them cause my characters are all only around 40-43.

@ubergamer2010 Starting when the Elnoyle is at level 40, it's supposed to drop no other item than Energy Crystals. I think enemies don't drop items if you use Mug. If you've scanned it and it's level 40, or up, my guess is that the Elnoyle respawning at all is a glitch and that you're technically fighting the same Elnoyle each time, which does not carry any Energy Crystals. You could try Carding it (easy with the help of Scan and junctioning 100 Sleeps to Status Attack on each character).

@alionheart559 I don't think so, I remember forgetting it too, but it appeared in the weapons shop. I believe you can also buy the magazine at a later time, I think in Esthar. I'm not too sure, but check just in case.

Go to Centra Ruins (where you get Odin) and in the main circular area a few screens in, kill 20 Tonberry's there. Tonberrry King will appear in the next fight in that area, beat him and he joins you as a GF. Teach him his "Familiar" ability then you can buy the final weapon book from the book shop in Esthar. Costs 50,000 Gil.

Easy way to kill Tonberry's (and king) is to keep Squall low on health and Renzokuken, use Meltdown if needed.

@alionheart559 In order get the Lionheart....YOU must ABSOLUTELY grab the magazine in the Laguna scene where he escapes the Lunatic Pandora laboratory. To get it, listen to the conversation that Dr, Odine is talking to his assistant and keep listening till he says "did you find the magazine I let you borrow?" Afterwards, head back inside to find Odine but first...PICK UP THE MAGAZINE ON THE FLOOR TO LEFT OR ELSE YOU'LL NEVER EVER SEE IT AGAIN WHEN YOU GO BACK TO SQUALL. This will bring it up...

@alionheart559 If you junction Death to all characters status attacks then you can instantly kill him in a single hit with whatever character gets lucky enough to go first with a single physical attack. Even faster then casting doom. =p

If you're not getting Energy Crystals, your level is probably not high enough.
