You people need to learn the difference between electromagnetic waves and gamma rays. They're not the same. Microwave exposure is like a sunburn. Radioactive decay is something different entirely.
this is an absolute outrage!!!!! no government, anywhere in the world should be aloud to have tech like this. yes it may be non lethal, and yes it may be good to help reduce casualties in foreign wars......BUT, you have to remember that a non lethal tech like this can also be used against us to prevent riots or even peaceful protests (occupy wallstreet for example). where do you think we would be if our government had this tech during the vietnam protests of the 60's
@quantumbeatsmusic I think you may be referring to alpha or beta radiation, nuclear radiation, not microwaves alpha can be blocked by aluminium and beta by skin but microwaves react with liquid by energising the moisture particles and then building friction which effectively cooks the target. Hope that helped just thought i would point that out to you as i have been studying a level physics for almost two years now.
The fact (assuming it is a fact) that you study any level physics doesn't change the fact (which is a fact) that metals like gold silver copper and aluminum block microwave radiation.

r u kidding this isnt dangerous at all. u really think if it was super dangerous theyd shoot him with it microwaves are extremely overrated when it comes to danger
this is isnt that impressive of a technology, its just sadistic and sick that they would build this. The reporter is an idiot for exposing himself to this
it's a much higher frequency than a conventional microwave oven. I believe it's in the 50ghz range, therefore with such a short wavelength, it only penetrates something like 1/64th of an inch

A microwave oven somehow keeps the radiation from getting out. I think it might have to do with something called ummm.. metal?

lol. I saw this when it aired. it makes me laugh, the way he jumps out of the way.

He uses a plywood and a mattress? If you use a thin piece of metal or aluminum foil this weapon is almost useless.

@jaxdaman999 DDT wasn't dangerous, right? Agent Orange? Vaccinations are safe, right? Don't be an idiot. It's population control.

its using sub-microwave technology. actual high strength microwaves can actually kill someone.

yeah. it entirely depends on the frequency and also the wattage that they are pushing too. be interesting to cook some hotdogs with that thing :P
