  • Non Hofner - ROGUE bass Beatle, Yes

  • @juanjosealva

No Juan José.

    Saludos

  • somebody but Schaller tuners on that Hofner!??!??! Yikes!??!

  • @MartinSoundLabs

You can read the history on previous commentaries.

I lent the bass to a fiend for a while... and he put they.

Few time after record that video I installed original Höfner tuner on the bass.

    Cheers

  • @Santi66

Great, yes i didn't read all the comment history.. Good to hear she is back with originals. I gotta play mine more.. too many basses and guitars.....

    best from San Francisco

  • @MartinSoundLabs Your right about the tuners!there-ugly

  • @loyboy1979

Yes, they were. Soon after recorder the video I put the correct Höfner tuners.

  • Hi man, greeeat sound...what kind of string for this video?

  • @enribass82

    Thank you for commentary.

At video the bass was strung with old roundwounds.

    Ciao!

  • You ever play a Hofner vintage 500/1 vintage '58? I saw it on Hofner's website but can't find a demo of it. Looks gorgeous, and is distinctive with its oval control panel.

  • @keepitweird2

Hi: The vintage 58 is so cool... but no, I never played one of them, sorry.

    Perhaps some day...

    Cheers

  • @Santi66 And now what string are using? Still round or flat? Everybody say flat are strings for this bass but listening to your...round gives more attack to sound. Someone uses the Rotosound black nylon for hofner... What do u think about? Thanks! ;)

  • @enribass82

    I use rounds still!

Well, you can see my other videos, with other Höfner 500/1, Höfner 500/2 (Club Bass), Höfner Senator, Framus Star Bass, Epiphone Jack Casady... all hollowbody basses and at all them I use roundwounds (no ultrabright!!).

The flatwounds can be cool for some styles and it will fits ok with the Höfner, but I prefer roundwounds for it.

And the black nylon... I don´t like for this bass.

    Good luck!

  • god that thing sounds beautiful

  • @exodian92

    Thank you for your words.

    Cheers

  • Maybe its stupid to ask that, but what do you play here ?

  • @gorpusasasa

    Hi:

I improvised a melody for this video.

    Thanks for ask

    Cheers

  • @Santi66 Ah ok ! Thanks !

  • What year is this model from?

  • @ratchetxrc

About 1968; But this bass was modified since some parts were damaged. The original tailpiece was shorter and the original controlplate was larger.

    Cheers.

  • @Santi66 Well its looking great and sounds awesome, im probably gonna get one of those cheap icon or contemporary ones they make

  • @ratchetxrc

The Icon is good for the money but the Contemporary is much better. The way it is made the neck is the same than german Höfners. The body got the same sizes and specs but the central sustain block, and the pickups are made in Germany.

    Good luck with the Höfners!

  • She's not a Höfner bass, look the mecanics on the head.

  • @Paul14880

Yes, the bass is an authentic Höfner, but the tuners aren´t,

Please, read previous commentaries and you will know all the story.

    Cheers.

  • @Santi66 Ho sorry mister, the tuners are misleading ...

Good luck for buy new ;)

  • @Paul14880

    No problem friend.

    Thank you for commentary.

    Cheers

  • you must have replaced the tuners cause they dont come with those big ones

  • @jaketheguitarist6379

Yes! The tuners was replaced with original tuners some months ago, few weeks after the video recording.

25 years ago I lent the bass to a friend; He accidentally broke a tuner... and he "upgraded" the bass with these big tuners; effective but no appropiate look.

Todey the bass got the correct tuners.

    Thank you!

  • @Santi66 my dad let his friend borrow his when he got his an it came back with out the r in hofner. now it is not working cause of the electrical work inside an we took it many places to try an get it fixed an most of them said just leave it how it is an some just didn't know what to do.

  • @jaketheguitarist6379

    Sorry!

Perhaps a good luthier can do the correct for it.

    Well, good luck, friend.

  • @Santi66 yea thanks

  • @jaketheguitarist6379 cool story bro

  • @domdabom15

Thank you! Now, this beloved bass got new Höfner tuners. We are both happy!

    Cheers.

  • Maybe I'm biased being a huge Beatle fan, but the Hofner violin has to be about the nicest sounding bass... Yeah the rick sounds good and the Fenders are Fenders...but I just love that tone.

  • @AppleCorp3

Yes! I have two Höfner basses. I like its warm, full and sweet tone. And I love Fenders G&L, Music Man, etc too, of course. But the Höfners are very good sounding basses.

    Thank you for commentary

  • Would you be allowed to tell something about the Hofner 500/1-58-0 Vintage ? I would love to see its tutorial. Thank you!

  • @megamicron

    Great bass, indeed.

Perhaps in the future I will do other Höfners demos.

    Many Thanks.

  • I like how the tuners stick out on yours on mine they dont do that and mines the averagecouler a hofner has

  • @MsBobohj

Hi: These tuners wasn´t original replacements (from early eighties). They works well, but now (after video) this bass got Höfner replacements.

    Thank you and good luck.

  • Doesn't you play any Beatles on that guitar?

  • @viceisthename

Ha, ha... I love the Beatles. But everybody think Höfner bass is only for Beatles music... and it is false.

The Höfner 500/1 is a great bass, and it sounds nice for jazz, blues, old rock & roll... and for Beatles music, of course!!

When I bought this bass, back in 1982 or 83 the first song in it was a Beatles song. After, I discovered the instrument... it´s great for melodic sounds.

    Good luck, friend.

    Cheers

  • @Santi66 Okay, how much does a new one cost?

  • @viceisthename

A German made 500/1, about 1900€. The Contemporary series, made in China (with german pickups) about 530€, and the entry level Ignition series 250€.

    Cheers.

  • @Santi66 Okay, thanks. Do you know how much that is in dollar?

  • @viceisthename

The 63 model, 2097$ in music123. 769$ the Contemporary and 370$ the Icon series.

    Good luck

  • @Santi66 dont you mean $2097, $769, and $370?

  • @PvtGaryRoach

    Yes, it´s approximative.

  • Do you have roundwounds on that baby? by the way nice playing and tone!

  • @ERCACHAQUIN

    Hi:

Yes, they are roundwounds. You can see my other Höfner 500/1 (more new, made in 2006), with roundwounds also.

The flatwounds sounds nice in hollowboy basses, but I love the tone from the roundwouns also if they aren´t too much bright.

    Thank you for commentary.

  • @ERCACHAQUIN Thanks :)

  • @viceisthename

    You are welcome.

  • I think that is isn't a Hofner!,maybe a copy!

  • @JayBSK8

No, isn´t a copy. I own this bass since 1983. Back then the bass was all original.

But some years after, I sold the bass to a friend; he ripped it. I bough the bass again and it was restored, but not all the parts come from the same epoque. At video the "monster" tuners are on it still. Now the bass got nice Höfner tuners replacements. I have other german Höfner, from 2006, and I had copies also. This one is a Höfner.

    Cheers

  • how can i restore my hofner?

  • what song or tab are you playing.

  • what are you playing its sounds cool.

  • @monge111

    This bass line is mine.

I love to play swing, blues or walking bass lines in the Höfners, because they sound sweet.

You can listen my other video with a 2006 500/1 Höfner, with a little walking bass ("Walking in a Höfner").

    Cheers.

  • I see the tuners aren't stock. What made you decide to change them or were they like that already when you purchased it? Nice bass.

  • @Peacefrog35

Yes, the tunes aren´t stock. It´s a large history... many years ago I loaned the bass to a friend for some months... he belived that these tuners would be better... and he threw they away.

Now, the bass have original Höfner replacements. Some weeks after the video the Höfner tuners was fixed, so the bass looks now better than at the video.

    Cheers

  • Wow, restored twice? Is the finish durable now?

  • @lptomtom

Yes, twice. The nitro finish has a lot of dings, cracs... mojo!

But the frets and neck are in good shape, so is very pleasant to play it.

    It´s my friend since 1983...

With my band I play with solid body basses, but I love to play Höfners, Framus and Jack Casady at home.

    Cheers.

  • awesome sound

  • @RockRiseAgain

    Thank you!

This old bass still can sound ok and offer us his nice tone.

    Cheers

  • @theJearbear93

    Hi:

    I´m not sure, but I thik it´s from 67. I own it since 83.

    Cheers.

  • beautiful bass

  • @chuecco

    Thank you!

    Cheers

  • I'm so in love with them!

  • @tripilexx001

    Me too...

    Thanks.

    Cheers.

  • what's the name of the song?

  • @nemakur

No one; only a melodic bassline just for this video.

    Thank you for commentary.

  • your welcome and happy new year to you

  • Really nice bass and sound

  • @EDEDDnricky

    Thank you so much.

    Happy new year.

  • Good,

    the sound is great men!!.

  • Thank you very much for commentary!

    Cheers.

  • it sounds f*cking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, sincerely.

    Cheers.

  • how much did it cost?

  • Well, I bought it in 1983... and it´s from last sixties.

A brand new German Höfner cost about 1500€; The Contemporary model (made in China) is about 500€.

The price of an older model depends on its state of conservción, the year of manufacture ...

    Cheers.

  • very nice sound

  • Thank you!

    Cheers

  • beautiful playing and sound

  • Thank you friend.

    Cheers.

  • I want one really bad, but not nearly as much as a Rickenbacker. Nice playing, btw. And to iloveasiangirls, me too, but my school doesn't have too many pretty ones, and that says something, because asian people are the majority of the entire school.

  • Hi friend, thank you for your words.

    Cheers.

  • Update: I WANT A HOFNER MORE THAN A RICKENBACKER BASS!

  • Yes, me too!

    Good luck

  • Is this strung with flat or roundwound strings?

  • With roundwounds.

I like the flatwounds also, but at video moment the strings was roundwounds.

    Cheers.

  • thanks (:

  • You are welcome.

  • What kinda amp are you playing threw? If you say a vintage ox I'll shit myself lol

  • Ha, ha... no. The amp is a little Kustom combo; 8" Celestion speaker and 16w, solid state.

It´s ok for play at home.

    Cheers

    Saludos y suerte.

  • this bass doesn't have the original tuners right?

  • Yes, it´s true. The tuners were changed about 1981 because the original ones were broken.

    Cheers

  • Que sonido tan bueno tienen esos fantasticos bajos,un saludo.

  • Gracias amigo!

    Un cordial saludo

  • nice bass. i need to get a hofner soon. if something ever happens to paul, this thing is gonna rocket in value

  • Yes. I love this bass.

And the Höfner Club bass is very cool also, I wish to have one of these...

    Cheers

  • Hofner basses are awesome!

  • Yes, they brings a sweet and warm tone.

    Cheers.
