i think you should add more "Goals" for the robot ^^ like explore, Multiply, get more Effective body build,make it possible for robots to fight agenst other robots for parts! (tribe vs tribe)...would be awesome!...a mini world filled with robot tribes!

and guys dont be scarred of AI lol...we humans are way longer into evolution atm...it would take them many many years before they (ON THERE OWN) can slay us.

Waiiiit... he is learning as he moves? So he must have a processor to run the GA, or something to exchange information to process the GA? How does the robot do this on the go?

Cool robot! .What parameters was the GA affecting? Cos from the video it looked like the robots tripod gait remained the same but it was moving faster over time? Was it making small changes to the tripod gait? The autostabilisation was neat!

How does it learn exactly, a GA requires at least a small population and i only see one robot. Maybe awarding each program 'time' to control the robot, and letting the best one continue?

Hello Houshalter,

You are right. Each individue is running after an other. But i changed a bit the normal algorithm so that the new generation has juste one individue in the best case. When the new one is whorse it wil be replace by another made frome generation-1. The evolution is much faster.

The fitness evaluation is based on two things. The ultrasound sensor measure how fast he moves and we measure also the energie consuption to improve speed and consuption.

It doesn't look like it has the dexterity, so I think another robot will have to be selected for that task. ; )

I think that robots will not be able to build more of itself during a long time. Have you ever seen a robot who makes photolithographie for microchips or purify silicon??? But we can try it on the next thesis!
