Morning Musume is more personality than talent. There is more to an idol than just singing.

However it seems like it's more and more personality over talent, especially in the current line-up. Some of the older members weren't the greatest looking, but all of them could sing. For me, while the new generations are good, MoMusu through Gen 4 was the best. When Yossie left... that just saddened me.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the newer members well enough. I see potential in Mitsui Aika, the one that people mostly ignore, and I like JunJun and LinLin. However, they're not the talents that the first four generations were. Even the fifth and sixth generations, while mostly good, I felt sacrificed talent for looks. The first four were ideal; fun personalities and fantastic singing.

I love Morning Musume and I have done extensive research on them. Let's just say I loved them for about 10 years but until recently I didn't know how to put a name with a face. Now, I have to say after practically going on an obsessive kick of spending at least a month doing little other than watching H!P related videos (and a little unrelated anime), this current Morning Musume group is by far less talented and more bland than 4th gen and before. Only 1 or two even stick out.

They are mostly all the same height now, body type, and there is no real obvious age differences beyond 1-2 years. This is an extreme polar opposite to the original generations where it was made up of girls who looked, even if they weren't, to be in their 20s. This was probably due to the very conservative dress. Then you have what I like to call the true golden era with Lida, Marippe, Aibon, Nono, Yossie, Gocchin and the rest. THAT was the true Golden era by far to me. No comparison.

I totally agree. This was probably one of the best line-ups that Momusu's had as of late--Aika really helped even them out, in my opinion. It's unfortunate that Yossie and Mikitty are gone now (although Jun Jun and Rin Rin are pretty good).
