just saw him live last night, went to get his autograph and tell him how much i loved him, and he actually doesn't speak outside of the stage. he says it's to preserve his vocal chords, doctors' orders, he said it at the start of the gig, that if anyone would meet him outside the stage they would see that he can't talk much. he's very nice though. that's exactly what he was like, no kidding!!
Interesting - it must depend on the situation though. We've taken him out on the town several times and the only other time he was silent was when he dozed off on a friend's couch (The girls almost killed me for trying to take a foto, but I only wanted to do so cuz he looked charming, not to embarrass him!!!) - 1b2s
The interviewer was C.B. "Pete" Barnes" -- but also give some credit to the editor (ME!) There were several touchy moments that I had to carefully excise to make this clip fun & not embarrassing!
(JR refused to drop character for an instant, by the way -- he even insisted on writing down his post-interview complaints on a bar napkin rather than admitting he could speak all along!)

the interviewer did a good job of just rolling along with it. that was more interesting than most normal interviews.
