@TheFullmoonTraveller What do you expect them to play at shows? Only songs from Dark Passion Play? You'd rather they stopped touring until they had 2 or 3 albums released with Anette so they have more variety of songs to play at concerts? Some old NW songs I can only listen to if Anette sings them. Like Wishmaster.
@GreenDay1981 Many people Tarja's opera voice a bit "heavy" for their taste.And it's your right to prefer the pop-rock Wishmaster version like the majority of people to love Lady gaga. BUT Tarja is amazing and for me Annete singing her song is just hopeless...Nettie CAN'T sing that high no matter what! And I didn't say them to play only DPP songs, but limit in some easy songs Nemo and I Wish I Had an Angel. And that's only until they have a second album! 25 songs are just fine for concerts!
it's always funny to see people bitching/discussing her higher notes and the fact how she did/couldn't do them live, absolutely forgetting about the rest of the song, like, the main part of it - the angry, desperate, wild and emotional verses which Anette sang perfectly, with so much real emotions involved.
Are you listening to the whole song ot just skip everything but the high notes, I wonder? :)

As for me, I can hear Anette's being uncomfortable on these high notes, struggling with them etc, but for me it doesn't make the whole song being "her worst try ever", 'cause the rest of the StD has been sang greatly. There's a room for improvement, always is, but still it was a good performance.

@SakumaRyuichiNG Anette is not a lyric soprano. She can't be, since she is not a classical singer and "lyrical" is a sub-genre of the classical. If you have taken that information from her blog, she wrote that she WOULD be a light lyrical soprano IF she were a classical singer, but which she isn't.
@HeartsEyes I am based in her timbre, and sometimes i even think she could be a light type BECAUSE of her colour. Obviously the only think we can be certain since we have not listen her vocalize, is the fact that she's a soprano using belting. I particularly don't know the technique but i highly doubt this is right... but who knows, no idea if belting is shouting high pitches.

Anette's open here when notes are too high for her, that's where the screaming sound comes from, and yes, that hurt her voice a lot. By 2008 you could hear that.
And I meant mezzo simply as being the range between soprano and alto, because an alto she is not, wasn't going into colour and so.

Also I think an aggressive song like this does not have to sound "beautiful" all the time, but I agree with you to some extent, because I don't like to hear how it hurts her to sing. But as far as I know, they have taken it out of the setlist anyway.

I think that is true, and also that some people feel Tarja more and others Anette. And that has nothing to do with any details or qualities of their singing styles, people are just different.

The song is not so hard to sing, and Anette does it really good, her only mistake, was trying to reach the same notes of Tarja when is not necesary, speaking about when she is doing "aaahhhh" at 3:24 and 3:54, this "aaa" is not really necesary, but, it's ok, is hard to do your own version of a song, specially if you learn it sung by someone else with other range and style diferent from you

Lamentablemente no es la mejor interpretacion de anette. pero hay que tomar en cuenta que es una de las primeras, de esa fecha a estos días anette a mejorado muchisimo, ya a logrado un buen sigergismo con la banda. The song is not so hard to sing, and Anette does it really good, her only mistake, was trying to reach the same notes of Tarja when is not necesary, speaking about when she is doing "aaahhhh" at 3:24 and 3:54, this "aaa" is not really necesary, but, it's ok, is hard to do your own version of a song, specially if you learn it sung by someone else with other range and style diferent from you

I really regret about choosing Anett for being new vocalist. She has ear for music, she has nice voice, BUT she can`t sing as Tarja, or just like any rock\metal vocalist. Her awful trying of resing Tarja songs (for some stupides - it`s Tarja songs, `cause Thomas dont sing it) irritate me and force to be hung up...

Just enjoy the old vids of Tarja singing the old songs, and dont blame Anette for trying. She was never ment to be good at the old songs, but people still want to hear them live of course. They are after all Nightwish's songs. Tuomas wrote them! I like Anette's voice on the songs wrote for here, and there is only going to be more of them as time goes on. So if you want to hear the old songs, wacth them with Tarja, but dont cry because Anette cant do them so well.

She trys, but her are Tarja are two different types of singers. NW was not really looking for a Tarja clone like you all wish they had gotten. They were looking for some one with a softer voice. Lamentablemente no es la mejor interpretacion de anette. pero hay que tomar en cuenta que es una de las primeras, de esa fecha a estos días anette a mejorado muchisimo, ya a logrado un buen sigergismo con la banda. Quiza esta no es una cancion para ella, sobre todo la parte que es más lyrica. pero anette hace una buena interpretacion con otras canciones antiguas de nightwish.
