These are probably the nastiest postings I have seen on a youtube Tom Waits video. I have NEVER seen such heartless, careless, negative comments towards others and their opinions on any other TW video postings, EVER!! Why the hell did all the assholes and trolls decide to show up at this particular video? Begone from whence ye came!!!!!!! Now back to our regularily scheduled kind comments about Tom, his works, and other posters.
This was the first song I heard by Tom Waits...I actually heard it on the radio, what are the chances?!! I now have him on vinyl,,,the only true way to hear Tom Waits. I couldn't believe it when I realised it was him in Dracula and The Outsiders XD
I know what you mean! Dracula was such a favorite of mine as a kid, and I remember how crazy good Renfield was. To be introduced to Tom 7 or 8 years ago, and finding that out blew me away.
Always thought he'd have made a great Riddler in Chris Nolan's batworld
@timbo92580 Thats so weird, I never thought of him in that role. Great call! Its a shame we'll never see it happen either. After the new batman with bane, they are rebooting again! I can just see him though, from the gods away on business video.
i got into this music because of a joke by patton oswalt where he casually mentions tom waits...now i cant get enough... wristcutters is a good movie too btw...found that on netflix by accident
In a moment of snobbery, I will say I knew this song before Wristcutters, I don't know that film at all. This was one of the first songs I heard by him, and instantly loved. But whatever brings people to his genius is okay with me.
I learned about Tom Waits through an old clock radio my grandmother always had on in the back room, it was her sewing room, and one night she asked me to shut off the lamp back there and this song was on and I couldn't get it out of my head and typed the words into google's search engine and the rest, as they say, is history!!!
I once met a woman and after 15 minutes of talkin' and dreaming about being beatniks we were kissing. It was all very fast. Couple of days later she told me she was 'just drunk'. I sent her this song. She doesn't like me at all now :) I don't care. I love Mr. Waits.
My day: wake up with some metal or hardrock, some Gothic rock in the afternoon, some old-school punk to fill it up, then finally chill out on tom waits in the evening :D
Wristcutter's is definitely one of my favorite movies. I wouldn't be listening to this song if it weren't for that movie. Now Tom Waits is one of my favorite artists.
I actually found out about this song in my school's performance of "voices in the attic" They played this while one girl painted an amazing confusing picture on this huge cloth all alone on stage
@drpork07 No kidding. I was contemplating on cancelling my Netflix subscription while I was listening to this. Not only did I find out this song played during the intro, but Tom Waits himself was a character in the movie. And best yet, it was available on Instant Play! So I watched it. <3 Great movie, great music.
@TheRealReaziN It's nothing to be worried about. It's actually a pretty cute movie (and only involves one instance actual of wrist cutting, though you don't see it happen). And it does have a happy ending. :D
@IATIKa0tiC wow you heard about tom waits before a bunch of other people? that means you're cooler than they are! dude...who...fucking...gives a shit!!
@IATIKa0tiC What's actually funny is that I heard Tom Waits' God's Away on Business, dismissed it as shit, saw the movie not 10 minutes later, heard the intro, loved it, found out that it was Tom, and proceeded to shit my pants. I now have 5 of his albums. Dear God, was I wrong. xD
@IATIKa0tiC Strangely enough I saw Wristcutters long before I knew about Tom Waits, and recently my Creative Writing teacher played his music in class so I googled him. I found it really cool to discover his music was in that movie.
I don't really see why it matters whether you heard the song off of wrist cutters, or if you just knew Tom Waits before. Just listen to the song. <3
