  • I don't really see why it matters whether you heard the song off of wrist cutters, or if you just knew Tom Waits before. Just listen to the song. <3

  • I fell in love with this song when I seen WristCutters, now I feel like I found buried Treasure with Tom Waits! I love this man :)

  • i actually watched wristcutters, loved the music but couldn't find this song. then i find Tom Waits and there this song is. score.

  • These are probably the nastiest postings I have seen on a youtube Tom Waits video. I have NEVER seen such heartless, careless, negative comments towards others and their opinions on any other TW video postings, EVER!! Why the hell did all the assholes and trolls decide to show up at this particular video? Begone from whence ye came!!!!!!! Now back to our regularily scheduled kind comments about Tom, his works, and other posters.

  • I would kill myself to this song.

  • when i die either suicide or naturally this song will without a doubt be playing in my head at least

  • 'Thumbs up' if you hate when facebook reloads the page after you press 'thumbs up'

  • I thank Wristcutters for introducing me to this grand artist, don't hate the movie just because it does this.

  • This was the first song I heard by Tom Waits...I actually heard it on the radio, what are the chances?!! I now have him on vinyl,,,the only true way to hear Tom Waits. I couldn't believe it when I realised it was him in Dracula and The Outsiders XD

  • @lifesabeach9137

I know what you mean! Dracula was such a favorite of mine as a kid, and I remember how crazy good Renfield was. To be introduced to Tom 7 or 8 years ago, and finding that out blew me away.

Always thought he'd have made a great Riddler in Chris Nolan's batworld

  • @timbo92580 Thats so weird, I never thought of him in that role. Great call! Its a shame we'll never see it happen either. After the new batman with bane, they are rebooting again! I can just see him though, from the gods away on business video.

  • @lifesabeach9137

I know, right? I remember dracula as a fav film from childhood and how crazy Renfield was. To find out it was Tom just blew me away.

Always thought he'd have made a great Riddler in Chris Nolan's batworld.

  • i got into this music because of a joke by patton oswalt where he casually mentions tom waits...now i cant get enough... wristcutters is a good movie too btw...found that on netflix by accident

  • thanks to wristcutters I always clean my room to this song lol

  • In a moment of snobbery, I will say I knew this song before Wristcutters, I don't know that film at all. This was one of the first songs I heard by him, and instantly loved. But whatever brings people to his genius is okay with me.

  • who is tom waits, isnt this the guy from wristcutters? :P

  • i loved Writcutters but no i knew Tom before hand, he did an amazing job though

  • WHAT IS WRIST CUTTERS?

anyway. this is my favorite waits song.

  • thumbs up if you dont care how people heard of this song, but ou know it rocks yo' socksssssssz

  • Its funny i found tom waits cause of wristcutters but i fell in love with the meaning and music, so does it really matter where i found it?

  • @JessMel25 not at all, it doesnt matter how you discover something, just that you do

  • I learned about Tom Waits through an old clock radio my grandmother always had on in the back room, it was her sewing room, and one night she asked me to shut off the lamp back there and this song was on and I couldn't get it out of my head and typed the words into google's search engine and the rest, as they say, is history!!!

    Love Tom Waits

  • good noise, duet with sandy dillon wud be super

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT WRISTCUTTERS.

  • 1 dislike is humanist or liberal.

  • Favorite quote by Tom Waits : "Music is just a really interesting thing to do with the air."

  • I once met a woman and after 15 minutes of talkin' and dreaming about being beatniks we were kissing. It was all very fast. Couple of days later she told me she was 'just drunk'. I sent her this song. She doesn't like me at all now :) I don't care. I love Mr. Waits.

  • Tom Waits - genius, he doesn't make many albums, but when he does. he REALLY makes albums. DEEP LOVE.

  • My day: wake up with some metal or hardrock, some Gothic rock in the afternoon, some old-school punk to fill it up, then finally chill out on tom waits in the evening :D

No seriously, Tom Waits still beats it all. XD

  • this is one of the songs on my suicide playlist. ha

  • Tom waits , bizim kesilmemiş bileğimizin yerine kanamış ve bu şarkıları yapmış. Dostsun.

  • Wristcutter's is definitely one of my favorite movies. I wouldn't be listening to this song if it weren't for that movie. Now Tom Waits is one of my favorite artists.

  • Who cares where you found it, just enjoy it!

  • Ahhh, Marc Ribot.

  • Whenever I listen to this song, I think of Alaska Young.

After Wristcutters though of course x)

  • can someone please find a tab for this song

  • This song is so beatiful I want to melt into it and stay there forever

  • I actually found out about this song in my school's performance of "voices in the attic" They played this while one girl painted an amazing confusing picture on this huge cloth all alone on stage

  • Thumbs up if wrist cutters isn't where you found out about Tom waits.

  • @IATIKa0tiC Tom Waits was the reason I watched WristCutters.

  • @drpork07 Me too!!. I want to watch every movie he is in.

  • @drpork07 No kidding. I was contemplating on cancelling my Netflix subscription while I was listening to this. Not only did I find out this song played during the intro, but Tom Waits himself was a character in the movie. And best yet, it was available on Instant Play! So I watched it. <3 Great movie, great music.

  • @drpork07 And the fact that the character is based off of Eugene Hutz from Gogol Bordello!

  • @IATIKa0tiC I still don't know what the hell wristcutters is, and don't necessarily even care to click the link to find out.

  • @TheRealReaziN ok don't :)

  • @TheRealReaziN It's nothing to be worried about. It's actually a pretty cute movie (and only involves one instance actual of wrist cutting, though you don't see it happen). And it does have a happy ending. :D

  • @TheRealReaziN You're missing out, it's a pretty good movie.

  • @IATIKa0tiC wow you heard about tom waits before a bunch of other people? that means you're cooler than they are! dude...who...fucking...gives a shit!!

  • @erasermcfleafly why are your panties in a bunch...go do something interesting with your life.

  • @erasermcfleafly Who gives a shit about your belly aching?

  • @IATIKa0tiC What's actually funny is that I heard Tom Waits' God's Away on Business, dismissed it as shit, saw the movie not 10 minutes later, heard the intro, loved it, found out that it was Tom, and proceeded to shit my pants. I now have 5 of his albums. Dear God, was I wrong. xD

  • @mettlehedd

that's a common experience...it's very rare that you can even play his music for someone else and get a positive response

  • @IATIKa0tiC Strangely enough I saw Wristcutters long before I knew about Tom Waits, and recently my Creative Writing teacher played his music in class so I googled him. I found it really cool to discover his music was in that movie.

  • @IATIKa0tiC Who gives a shit its a good song and a good movie it does not matter where you find it you got to find some how one day

  • I just found out that my classmates don't appreciate him.

Damn what a voice, I can listen to this for ages.

    GRTS from belgium

  • @milanvdv Yay Belgium! I used to live there lol (just saying)

  • i want to die to this

  • a song that is not only one of my favorites but also a life-altering one...billion watches and likes are not enough for an ageless ,meaningful song

  • tom waits is one of the best blues singers in the world idc what the hell u think!

  • Fit the intro to Wristcutters so well, and I loved the role Tom Waits played in that movie.

  • oh man, thx a lot! such a good fucking movie!
