I know exactly where this is, but I won't say per your wishes. I haven't fished that section of the river canyon or the reservoir, but have fish the same river near its headwaters. Curious, are the trout much bigger than those you landed? They're larger than normal for the sierras, I'd suspect because the reservoir is at a relatively low elevation, but did you get the sense that the reservoir can sustain large fish (i.e. 8-10lb class?)
