  • Back in the day Ralph ruled. And Miami was an American city.

  • Tony just retired about 3 weeks ago

  • Anyone else thinking the movie "Anchorman"?

  • anyone know where that theme music can be found?

  • I believe this music was from a jingle package from Tuesday Productions - the demo was originally made for WCCO Radio. IIRC, the package was called "Real Radio" and most of the cuts had vocals with the lyrics "...Real Radio, W-C-C-O."

  • Great clip. This aired on Tuesday, March 5, 1985.

This was Ralph Renick's next-to-last broadcast for WTVJ. He left for a vacation in Switzerland on Thursday, March 7, 1985, and injured his shoulder while skiing. He left WTVJ on Wednesday, April 10, 1985. (He said he was leaving to run for governor, but his newscast had recently slipped behind WPLG's 6 p.m. news.)

By the way, the baby had stopped breathing due to pneumonia. The cop revived the baby using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

  • That 1972-88(?)"4" logo got reformatted in 1988 during the network switch. to see what I mean see here:

  • Actually, they used that logo from 1958 until December 1988, about 2 weeks before they made the switch to NBC.

  • After the switch, It was the same 1958-88 logo, but they filled in some places making it an regular italicized "4" so it was a "soft" update of an familiar logo.

  • Isnt it kinda wierd to think...this intro is only 20 years old or so, and they're all dead?

  • Sorry, just found out Tony Segreto is still alive
