  • I also remember this song from the movie "Little Darlings". I can still picture Kristy McNichol and Tatum O'Neal...

  • @tc1261 I had a professor in college who's wife played the camp director who got the pie thrown in her face during the food fight. He said her part was pretty much edited out of the movie except for this scene.

  • I an Matthews one of my favorite country musicians i used to listen to him always back in the 70's.It sucks they don't make music like this nowdays.

  • Wow, this takes me back to spring 1980, my junior year in high school, and that hot little brunette cheerleader who broke my heart....believe it or not, it still hurts sometimes. Especially when I hear songs like this.....lol, oh well, that's life!

  • Great song then, great song now.

  • This song drives me to 1980, Great Year!

  • @imbluz ~ And here's to you & your memories.

  • Little Darlings soundtrack!!!

  • Sounds a lot like Stephen Bishop. ("Save it for a Rainy Day")

  • Very underrated song....still have the "45" single...man, did I listen a lot to that record in '79 and thereafter...glad it is on Youtube!!...thanks for posting it...

  • @blueyes816 good thing u still have it, lol. I remember having the 45 to this and I would play the hell out of it when I was like 6 yrs old.

  • estuve buscando este tema desde hace muchos años, desde los tiempos de stereo 100 en lima, gracias por subirla , gracias , gracias, el tema es realmente hermoso.

  • I remember this song back in 1978. I spent the summer in a cool beach house. Memories!

  • Classic pop, nice hooks, sexy touches with the sax, talented studio musicians and restrained backups, good use of multi-tracking and no distortion--it all adds up to that super-polished 70s sound.

A joy to the ears that we don't get enough of anymore.

  • FUCKING YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

  • I was living in Morro Bay, California in the summer of 1979 and remember this song so well. I was madly in love with Sue Bowman (we worked together for Swift Aire Lines in San Luis Obispo) ~ geez, hearing this song takes my memory, and my heart, racing back to that time in my life.

  • @MrRonnieG

I remember it airing in the summer of 78. Great memories from that summer. Here's to ya.

  • Best song in THE WARRIORS!

  • I was going through finding ideas for a 70s homemade compilation to put on CD and play in my car. I found some great tracks then I stumbled on this one. I hadn't heard this before but this song was so familiar. Full of melody and great lyrics.

  • oh! classic!!! :)

  • Love this track....picture in her wallet autographed basketball etched in memory now for over thirty years

  • Oh she could shake it in 1979..too bad what she was shaking was a fat stomach...

  • Major Flashback!

  • 懐かしや、この優しく清らかなの歌声、イヤン・マシューズの"SHAKE IT!"~AOR全盛期の極め付き曲のひとつだナ!

  • This awesome, cool song reached #13 in early 1979. (U.S., Billboard) -- Definitely one of the best songs of that entire year!

  • This was one of those songs that just stick in your head. Even after all those years. Ever notice how the current music out there is not really sticking in your head? Beiber, Gaga, Britney and much of this other stuff sounds good, has good bass and you can dance to some of it, but I do not go about my days singing any of it.....The good music is gone now.......

  • Yes! I remember that song from the opening scene to Little Darlings when Kristy McNichol kicks a guy extremely hard in the nuts. Great Movie.

"Be nice to me....slide me something nice!" haha Love It - LOLs.

  • wish i was in 79 free and without sorrows !

  • Ian hit #13 in Billboard, 2-17-79. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Wow! A flood of memories are flashing back! I love that move "Little Darlings". Good for the times, but try and make a movie like that today and your going to get into trouble. Oh the innocence of youth. It sucks we can't go back our childhood again.

  • Makes me wanna play "The Warriors" xD

  • @ElMarkyMix SAME!

  • this is so fucking funky im shaving to this song lol

  • Ah, this reminds me jumping through a window and getting the drop on the Jones Street Boys......or was that a video game I forget.

    Love ya wherever you are

  • The Warriors!!! yea i love that game..

  • thumbs up if "the warriors" game brought you here :)

  • This was a total 'summer song'... :-)

  • "Little Darlings" really talks about those growing pains and the crap that girls, and kids period, have to take on a daily basis.

  • This sounds just like a song that I sent to Mushroom Records in 1978.

They wanted to sign me but I was already signed to Epic. So they got someone to copy my hook. Wow, should've at LEAST been co-writer on this on Ian!

  • I love this song. So mellow.

  • ich quiero this chanson( amazing)

  • they used to play this song at the roller rink.skated to this many times.what a great time

  • Is this the same Ian Matthews who fronted the group, Matthews Southern Comfort? If it is, how the hell did he go from singing Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" in 1971, to singing a disco song in 1979? Talk about desperate times calling for desperate measures!

  • @Victor1970s Yeah it's the same guy....Not really a disco song in my opinion, just a lightweight pop song typical of the era. He sold out on this one.

  • the saxophone solo is orgasmic

  • Brings back memories of 1979, when I graduated high school. Other hits of that spring time 1979 was The Baby's "Every Time I Think Of You", Van Halen's "Dance The Night Away" and Orlean's "Love Takes Time".
