Troy and Brent are my favorite vocal tandem behind only Jeffrey Nothing and JMann. And the fact that they do it while playing instruments is all the more impressive.
It almost looks like Brent is wearing a shirt with Roy Orbison on it. Watching this at home in front of my sorry computer is giving me goosebumps...I expect that they'd provide an amazing live performance.
I listened to this album on the top deck of a cruise ship in Alaska. There were mountains on both sides and it was dark and cloudy out. Towards the end of the album there was a split between clouds, a crack in the sky if you will, and the sunlight was coming though it on top of the mountains. It was the most epic thing I've ever experienced and I will never forget it. Looking at the mountains surrounded by black clouds but sunlight streaming down on top. I remember every time I hear this song.
next time someone points out in a live 'studio' recording, like Letterman, or those other ones floating around have bad vocals, point them to this video.
I keep saying they sing awesome live, but there's just not enough good evidence online. This is what they sounded like, but there's simply no way to fully capture the power...
Pretty awesome gig. I was in the very front just too the right of wear this video was shot. I recorded the whole Crack the Skye performance but it was too loud for my camera too handle. I was also fighting a crack head whore during this song. Good times, and good video!
I would kill to see these guys live.
