How can anyone NOT like this???? Just because she's a mormon people automatically hate it. What if she was a Jew? A muslim? A Catholic? A Baptist? Black? White? Does it honestly matter THAT much to tear people down if you don't agree with what they believe? Baffles me that people don't understand that
I don't get how people can hold onto faith so hard after they've been wronged so bad, if god really loved you he would have stopped the accident from ever happening. How about the millions of other accidents that happened where people weren't so lucky and died? It's most likely because there is no god and random stuff just happens. I don't mean to take away from any of this, and I feel for these people, it just seems so odd to me.
Just letting you know effective prayer is an oxymoron. Keep in mind the doctors' work, rather than claiming prayers saved your life. Good luck to you, this is a very inspiring story :)
Whenever I feel like my spirituality needs readjusting, I watch your video. It is a very palpable reminder of Christ's Atonement- how it's not just for people who sin. It's for ALL our aches, pains, empty hearts, and the like. Thank-you Brother and Sister Nielson for following the gospel and being such a light unto the world through your adversities and your laughter as well.
I had the same issue w my appearance. I got sick, lost my hair & aged 20+ yrs in a few months. Its so hard, when you're once so attractive to whr ppl stare at you, to looking obviously not healthy. But my son told me, mommy i dont care wht you look like, you always will be the most beautiful woman in the world to me.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you stephanie are one of the most beautiful people i have seen in this planet. You inspire me to motivate myself and to keep on moving. Thank you and may god bless you.
How wonderful it is to see that beauty is not only based on appearance. Our bodies grow old and change but who we are on the inside can last eternally. Looking deeper than the skin is hard for some, but who we find on the inside can show us unseen beauty.
This is an honest question for any mormon that i would like an answer for: Why is it a popular mormon teaching that when you die, someday you will be united with your husband or wife (or wives) and live with them for eternity, when in the bible (Matthew 22: 23-33) Jesus says that in heaven there will be no marriage? Since these two teachings are complete opposites is it even possible for the book of mormon to truly be God's true word or something merely made by man? I just seek the truth.
@TheBrett437 Matthew 16:19 is when Jesus Christ tells Peter of the authority of God that was conferred to His apostles and what is able to be done with that authority. If you look at the context of the verses, the Sadducees' question was regarding marriage that is not performed by the authority of God. Because if were to be done with the authority of God as mentioned in Matthew 16:19 it will be valid in Heaven as well. Best thing to do though is to pray and ask God. He answers.
@TheBrett437 The Bible states that there will be no marriages in heaven which means none performed there. Marriage, we believe is an earthly ordinance that must take place while you are alive. We do believe that marriages that are sealed in our temples are for time and also for eternity. We also do proxy marriages for people who have already died without having the chance to receive these blessings for themselves. That way they have a chance to accept or reject that work done.
@TheBrett437 Jesus did not mean that families cannot be forever in Gods kingdom, what He meant is that in heaven you cannot marry, eternal marriage is done here on earth, in Gods Holy Temples.

@Mas0o0n Mormon doctrine would agree with you. We don't believe that a person will be kept out of heaven because of what they drink or smoke. The health code we espouse is meant to enrich our lives and bring us closer to God, but there will be plenty of people in heaven who drink or smoke!

Stephanie, Saw you on gbtv today. My prayers will be with you and your family. In you, God has a wonderful and beautiful lady spreading his word. okay i dont love or hate mormons...im just really confused as to why there is such a movement for mormons right now. i mean, it just seems silly to get all worked up about this
There is a movement because it is the truth. Everyone should have the opportunity to hear it. They also have the free agency to accept or reject it. If you listen and watch with your heart--or in other words the spirit that you came to earth with, you will hear it. I don't understand why you think everyone is getting "worked up"--you make it sound like a bad thing. But I got worked up because it was such an inspirational story. This story makes me want to be a better mother.
The movement is interesting indeed. Mormons send missionaries around and share personal stories because they want to issue a challenge, that all might pray and ask God if his church has been restored to Earth and if so which church it is.
Peoples responses to this challenge are most commonly either positive or negative. It is few who remain in the middle.
I'm glad you posted here. I hope you enjoyed the video as well as I.
@keloha3 Basically they're trying to get the message out that they're normal like the rest of us. Personally, they shouldn't have to, but there are plenty of stereotypes out there that say otherwise. I'm not a Mormon, but I recently went to their church and had an understanding that they wanted to let people know they're normal. And also followers of Christ, because some people think Mormonism is different entirely.
Of course it was prayers and faith that kept you alive and facilitated your recovery... all those doctors and hospital staff had nothing to do with it. It wasn't their years and years of medical training... it was "miracles".
@butchermachine LOL those doctors and their training ARE miracles! Who are you to say otherwise? Where is it written that miracles have to have no explanation?!
Absolutely stunning. Your love of God and your faith has surely made you a beacon to those who are seeking a higher purpose for their own lives. Thank you for helping each of us be grateful for all of the blessings that God bestows on us each day.
I saw her on 20/20 a few months ago.. I knew she was a member.. I could see it in her countenance.. Beautiful lady and beautiful family. xo Wonderful testimony..
I watched this right when it came out. A while later, I heard you and your husband on Conversations on the Mormon Channel as I was working one day. When you were talking, I thought to myself, is this the same Sister who was on the mormon message? You were!! So I listen more intently to te Conversations broacast and heard about your blog. I felt impressed to look up your blog. That was awhile ago too. Then just recently it accurd to me that I should read your blog from start to finish. I love you
I love this. I love her. Stephanie, you are an inspiration and you have a beautiful family. Just know that your testimony has touched the heart of and 18 yr old girl.
This is amazing. I just spent the week at EFY and after gaining a testimony of the atonement this takes a whole different meaning in my life. I'm so grateful.
how could you dislike this?!?!? You are so brave and amazing! i can't even imagine what you go through, but thank you for sharing your story. You are so strong in the church and so positive. You have changed the life of a teenage girl:)
Great testimony. I am about to head off to the MTC from Alaska, and I've been kinda struggling lately. I am the only member in my family, and, especially since I spent the past 8 months in BYU, I am viewing the world in a more different light. I love the gospel, it gives me the peace that helps me though those difficult times and gives me the hope I need to carry on. I don't exactly know yet the purpose of my temptations, experiences, and so forth, but I have a hope for the future.
I saw you & your husband on Glenn Beck...I have watched it twice. I love you guys so much. I was truly affected by your story. God bless you forever...and thankyou for being so brave & for sharing the truth with the world. Love, Betsy
This Mormon Message makes all of my aches and pains go away....Stephanie & Christian you are both such brave people, may God bless you greatly in your times of need, you are truly both and inspiration.
Hi Stephanie & Christian, I was watching Fox News today and saw you both on tv. I was so curious with what happend to you both. Jesus Christ will never leave us. May He be always with you! You're such a very beautiful, brave and amazing person, you chose to live with your children and husband - hats off to you! You will be forever blessed with courage and strength. Nothing is impossible to God. I will share this to my family and friends. I will always pray for your recovery :)
Thank you soo much for being you! I am soo glad that you guys are alive with so much to live for makes me take stock in what my purpose on earth is and how important our lives truly are in God's great plan. May the Lord bless you immensely is my prayer!
I have a strong desire to become more happy in life, and just remember how precious life really is, I want to have that strong of faith just like they do...
I don't understand how there are dislikes. This is amazing and beautiful. It's so inspirational. I am Lds and I Love her testimony it makes me cry every time.
I am so glad to see this video.. Although I am not a mormon, I am a Christian and I believe God DOES have a purpose for all of us. So glad that Stephanie is here, what a blessing she has been to her community, her friends, her family, her church and strangers like me around the globe. As I've followed her story (for the last 2 months) I have found SO much inspiration, as well as messages of great strength. The Nielsons are in my daily prayers. Thank you for sharing your story. From my heart <3
WOW.....this is so moving to me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have this as my homepage when I open a new webpage to remind to watch it before I do anything else. I try to start my day by watching this. It humbles me every time so I don't forget whats really important in life.
You and your husband are amazing individuals who are such strong examples of what all of us should be like. Your children are very blessed to have you as their parents and I'm sure you feel blessed to have them, too.
Good luck and may the Lord bless you all richly with all the righteous desires of your hearts.
This is an amazing video. I've seen this video several times, yet it didn't hit that much until a few minutes ago. Because seven months ago, a three foot blood clot in my left leg threatened my life. And I shouldn't be here, that's how bad it was. When she said that every day is a blessing it made me get choked up. Whether or not you believe in a God, I know that my Redeemer lives. His compassion and patience are sometimes sent in trials to teach us how to become stronger. Thank you Stephanie
She has the most incredibly beautiful green eyes; this video inspired me so much..that everyday i should live it like my last because i don't know what will happen everyday;
Im Catholic, and very much devouted to my faith, but i found this story so inspirational. it truly is a miracle that you survived, and this nearly brought a tear to my eye....may God bless you and your family.
thank you for sharing your story. your healing becomes a salve to those who read about it. your story heals the parts that people can't see or touch, but are very real. you are a beautiful person inside and out.
this story hits me in my heart I start to cry 80% of your body was burned I bet you wish you could go back to the time your were in the plane and save you and your husband but your new life has more feeling I mean I bet you feel closer to god I am a mormon and I have A D D It feels hard I can't get along wih my family Im nine and I live in Calgary, AB, Canada you hold on this is him saying I am going to challenge you with your faith in me. your very lucky i bet you feel more close to yourfamily
I am a christian and not a mormon ,but ithink the important thing to remember here is that we all belive in the Lord Jesus Christ, We are all a peace of His body, regardless of what we "are" (Christian, Mormon, Catholic..etc.). The bible says to us that we must all stick together in faith, we all need each other.
This testamony is wonderful and its building all of us in faith.
The streangth and love this woman have is truely a sighn from God to all people.
Stephanie, you are astounding. Your story has touched so many lives, believers and non-believers alike. You are beautiful inside and out. Had this happened to someone else, they may have asked themselves "Why me, God?," but you took this incident and turned it into a blessing. You have such a wonderful testimony. I am so sorry for the way you achieved it, but blessed that you have turned it into this wonderful, awe-inspiring life story. God bless :]
Steph is living proof that our outer appearance isn't what defines us.Her spirit is more beautiful than many I have ever heard from. She will be whole ,of body and spirit after the ressurrection and she knows this. Truly inspiring story from a truly inspiring sister....Luv this!
What a strong testimony of the gospel and the love of our Savior Jesus Christ! I am a mother and sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but it's nothing compared to you Stephanie. You are absolutely beautiful inside and out! Thank you for sharing your story, you strengthened me and my testimony.
I often think of this couple and their family. It's a hard to leave a comment to this video. They have blessed my life in so many ways. I wish we could all remember the message they are trying to share with us. We are not our bodies...there IS more to life that who we see in the mirror. Christ taught us what life is about. I can only imagine how hard this trial is for them. Everyday. Stephanie, we love you. Thank you for being who you are.
I m a Russian LDS and this touched my heart so deep.. Stephenie, you are a great daughter of God and you showed me how we all could follow Christ's example
Ive been following Stephanie blog for a year now. I absolutely adore her and the love she has for her family. I never really experienced such a dedicated family. So her story absolutely warms my heart and has made me look forward to having my own family one day.
Your story is an inspiration. Your comment about "I am not my body" has been my mantra for 3 years now. But I know it is not easy. I had back surgery, had 3 disks removed, 2 artificial ones placed and a fusion in between. My pain increased and my symptoms continue to increase. Many people who have the surgery are completely cured and back to their lives. I continue to struggle daily. But I do know my Heavenly Father loves me and I feel his tender mercies. Thanks for your example.
She is such an inspiration. Her story makes me want to be a better mother. I am very sorry that she had to go through this hard trial but I am so glad I heard her story.
I can truly say that you are so beautiful, inside and out, right now. Don't compare yourself to who you once were, because I'd bet you are an even better, stronger, more loving person now because of your trials. I appreciate the comments of others, especially those not of the mormon faith who can appreciate an inspiring message and not label it because of the denomination to which it is linked. Thank you for your message Stephanie, you are an inspirer.
It's hard for anyone to see how someone could be happy without a beautiful face anymore. But she is beautiful on the inside and it shines through. God bless
The missionaries just showed me this testimony last Friday. It touched me deeply and reminded me of my own trials and struggles. A single mother of two boys, disabled from a stroke in 1998 and I just lost my mother last December. Jesus Christ will carry us when we find it too hard to bear on our own. He's there. He's been there before we ever experienced pain or sorrow or struggle. Thank you Stephanie for your message and may God bless you and keep you and your family in all you do. Amen
@Gittadone, please remember, whether you are mormon or not, that the relief society sisters will help you through anything and lift your burdens regardless of your interest in the LDS church. They are wonderful. Don't be afraid to reach out to them and ask, because they will reach back. We are all one huge support family. God bless you!
You are such a beautiful person, I couldn't help but cry, tears of happiness and joy that our god is so good!! Thanks for sharing your story!! It was very touching!!
You are TRULY BEAUTIFUL!! Our culture has forgotten what really matters in this life. You, Stephanie "get it"! May God bless you and protect you and your family. You are amazing!!!
Hello, I used to be a mormon boy. Unfortunatelly, i grew up and my mind changed. But, this testimony melted my heart...watered my eyes...Thanks for persons like you guys...I know you are the ones this world need...I wish you the best of the best on your family and you...Thanks, thanks and more million thanks...As a teacher i will share this message with my colleagues and, for sure, my students...Love from the bottom of my heart...From Panama with all my love...You deserve the best...thanks again
This is a beautiful video. I am going to look at her blog. You know, she was talking about how she struggles with not being physically beautiful and the only thing I could think was, her husband has PERFECT hair! And so does she. They're both beautiful.
I met Stephanie last night. She and her husband both gave wonderful talks. I think everyone in that room was crying. She is truly an inspiration to me. She is so brave and SUCH a beautiful person -- inside and out. She gave me a hug and I could feel nothing but love coming from her. Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing your testimony. I've had many conversations with your parents and I can tell they love you and think you're amazing. I think you're amazing. I hold so much respect and love for you!!
Mrs. Nielson, thank you for hanging there! Your testimony of Heavenly Father's love for you touched me. We are indeed lucky to have the restored gospel. I hope for you to endure to the end with that charity (love of Christ) that is in your heart. God bless you and your family.
thank you soo very much for being an example of christ in these days i have also had a very hard life and i need to remember to thank heavenly father for all the trials i go thru thank you you have helped me soo much. i am mormon but i am the only one in my family i am 17 years old and i dont live with my parents
Hi Stephanie-- I am here via Cindy Baldwin, whom I follow (and I check in on you from time to time :)) and I want to join with the other commenters who are non-Mormon in affirming that your message is universally appealing and inspiring. I do not believe in any supernatural powers; I *do* believe in the power of human courage and love. You are a shining example of both. Thank you!
This is a very moving video. Thankyou for sharing it.
I pray that you and your family continue to seek God.
I am not Mormon my family is Mormon and I am a christian.
I have learnt since becoming a christian that a personal relationship with god is far more important then and works that we can perform for any minister, bishop, priest etc.
God Bless you
Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life, nobody comes to the father except through me.
Stephanie, you are a beautiful woman. I think there needs to be more women in the world that have the perspective on life that you do. Thank you for touching my life and giving me greater faith and hope in the future. I have gone through my own challenges in life and you are so right that being a father or a mother is a privilege, and it does bring us the greatest Joy in life! Joy is found in the things you sacrifice the most for, true happiness!
I just want to say I know how you feel Stephanie Neilson. On the same day you were in your plane crash, I was in a terrible car accident with my friends. My best friends had just been sealed in the Atlanta Temple that morning and we were headed back home for the reception. Just 10 minutes before arriving, our car was hit from behind and one of my friends died in the car. I'm the only one that saw and remembered what happened. This accident did bring my closer to God. I love Him and his Son!
How can anyone NOT like this???? Just because she's a mormon people automatically hate it. What if she was a Jew? A muslim? A Catholic? A Baptist? Black? White? Of course it was prayers and faith that kept you alive and facilitated your recovery... all those doctors and hospital staff had nothing to do with it. It wasn't their years and years of medical training... it was "miracles".
butchermachine 4 months ago
@butchermachine LOL those doctors and their training ARE miracles! Who are you to say otherwise? Where is it written that miracles have to have no explanation?!

I love you

God bless this family and all of you

Stephanie, you are astounding. Your story has touched so many lives, believers and non-believers alike. You are beautiful inside and out. Had this happened to someone else, they may have asked themselves "Why me, God?," but you took this incident and turned it into a blessing. You have such a wonderful testimony. I am so sorry for the way you achieved it, but blessed that you have turned it into this wonderful, awe-inspiring life story. God bless :]

I can truly say that you are so beautiful, inside and out, right now. Don't compare yourself to who you once were, because I'd bet you are an even better, stronger, more loving person now because of your trials. Thank you for your message Stephanie, you are an inspirer.

Amen

I just want to say I know how you feel Stephanie Neilson. On the same day you were in your plane crash, I was in a terrible car accident with my friends. My best friends had just been sealed in the Atlanta Temple that morning and we were headed back home for the reception. Just 10 minutes before arriving, our car was hit from behind and one of my friends died in the car. I'm the only one that saw and remembered what happened. This accident did bring my closer to God.
