This is only high school vocabulary. Yeah, Greg may be a professor and he may have a PhD. And yes, he is very smart. But these words aren't too hard to understand.
@sbcistheboss You should think about the people that don't have English as their native languague (like me), the definitions are very helpful to fully understand the meaning of what Greg's trying to say.
@HuffyT266 English is not my native tongue, either, my first language is a Native American language, that few have heard and even less speak. But I didn't think about those who aren't very fluent in English
I just love how you put the definitions in the video! Many a night I've spent with a Bad Religion CD in my deck and a dictionary in my hand. The "wordiness" has long been a joke around BR fans. Have you heard NOFX's "I'm a fan of Bad Religion"? Bad Religion taught me to ask questions. But I do enjoy poking a little fun. It's nice to know that you can be intelligent. You can have reasons for saying "fuck you", which is what rock and roll and especially punk is about... Great vid!
if you don't mind me saying, 'and did those feet. in ancient times...' is a reference to william blake's poem 'jerusalem'. it goes 'and did those feet in ancient time walk upon england's mountains green and was the holy lamb of god on england's pleasant pastures seen'. 'i don't think so' is clearly a refutal. a beautiful song, btw.
@duskostrasni the rhythm of the poem does somewhat fit, but the point of his wording is far from similar, it is very interesting to have heard this though, i love learning new things about the music i enjoy, heres for1you, Greg Graffin, the lead singer if u didnt know, does not particularly like this song, he actually kind of regrets it because of his outright statement "I dont think so", the band prefers to ask questions and not make statements, if ur curious where i learned this, get his book
dude you should do all BR videos...definitions for their lyrics should be required

@sbcistheboss I see no problem with helping our less educated friends learn a few words and understand the song more fully.

I've learned so many words thanks to Bad Religion- myoma, torpor, misanthropic anthropoid, and more I can't recall from the top of my head.
