i met a teacher at berklee, jack pez, and he told me a little story about this song. he said he was backstage at a show and his friend introduced him to Clapton. His friend wanted Jack to show Clapton something on the guitar, now in this time period, i think the 60s, everyone was on drugs, so Jack played Clapton a chordal version of Over the Rainbow. Clapton said thats nice but im a blues player. and that was it. then 40 years later he gets an email from Clapton saying thanks for the song idea!
@0216johnsmith - Even if Jack lied to you and this story were not true, the story in itself is wonderful and you don't know how much I'm grateful that you've chosen to narrate it here. Good for you, good for Jack and good for Clapton.
(I beg pardon if my english scares someone... This is not my natal language)
@alaivan Ya man, I was just loving this story when Jack told it to me. to think this happened 40 years ago and the guy who showed clapton this arrangement told me, it was wild. but if its true or not is unknown to me, id love to meet clapton and ask him but like that would happen ha
